WEED One of the most elab orate weddings held In recent years in this area was solemnized Sunday, May 24, at the Holy Fam ily Church in Weed when Prank J. Linville took as his bride, Mar garet Lillian Salanti. Officiating at the rites was the Keverend Father J. Sullivan, pastor of the church. ' 1 Mamarct selected for this im portant event in her life a nylon tulle over white satin in floor length. Lilies-of-the valley were gracefully attached to the head ing, of the nylon tiers. Her veil was in finger-tip length attached to a tiera of orange blossoms. Escorted by her father, who gave her in marriage, she carried uouquel of steplmnotls centered with a white orchid. Maid of honor, was her sister, Inez Salanti, in a ballerina frock of orchid nylon over orchid taffeta. Four bridesmaids were In at- tendance Including: Orsola and Laura Silva and two other sisters of the bride, Cecilia and Elsie Salanti, wearing ballerina - fash ioned frocks of nylon net over taffeta in pastel shades. They wore tieras of net and flowers In shades matching their dresses; and carried nosegays or roses and sweetpeas. . . The bride Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Salanti who have been residents of this area for the last fourteen years. They own a large ranch three miles north of Weed. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and. Mrs. Jack Linville, whose home Is In Weed. Best man was a cousin of the bridegroom, George Linville; and ushers were, Dan Linville, George Dunlap, Harold Silva and Edgar Davis. Mrs. Salanti chose a gray after noon dress with white accessories for her daughter's wedding and Unloading of Coronation TV Film Telecast-From Boston Airport " Mrs. R. H. Anderson returned from Beaverton last week end, where she was a houseguest at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William DeCcw. Her grandson, Mrs. DeCew's ton, Larry Snyder accompanied her and will remain in Beaverton. Mrs. Anderson was awake at 4:i a.m. and "heard" the coronation- then at 12:45 p.m. over television she saw the Jet plane arrive at the Boston airport with the TV films which were relayed from London to Iceland to the United States. NBC and CB3 were in open com petition as to which would be the first to telecast the coronation cere monies and had chartered planes to stand bv in London to rush the films to the U.S. It appears that NBC beat CBS but ironically CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corpora tion! were first of the three. Mrs. Anderson was fascinated With the pictures of the actual un loading of the film. Limited space necessitated packing the precious reels around the pilot and he had to remain in the plane until most of them were gingerly taken from around him. The 1 p.m. film was Happy Hour Club ' The Happy Hour Club met with Jennie Hum, 439 Pine Street, May 26. Members present were: Alice Lawrence, Anna Bean, Maud Hos ley. Lora Evans. Anna Blehn and Lina Motschenbacher. Mne An derson was the club's guest- for the afternoon. The bride- groom's mother wore a tailored suit in navy blue and her cor sage was of red and white car nations. Following the ceremony a re ception and luncheon was held at St. Michael's Hall attended by approximately 140 relatives and friends. The wedding cake was a five tiered creation and, according to tradition, was cut by Oie bride assisted by the bridegroom. Potted palms, baskets of white daisies and gladioli, and lighted tapers In candelabra were used for church decorations. Mrs. Lilllam Thomas, organist, played traditional wedding music. Soloist. Mrs.Duane Blackman. sis- ter-ln-law of the bride, sang "Oh Promise Me" and "Because." . Best man was Wayne Wilson. Candles were lighted by Hilton Wil son and Duane Blackman, who also served as ushers. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Blackman wore a lavender dress maker suit, with pink and white accessories and she wore a pink rosebud shoulder corsage. - Mrs. Burleigh wore a grey auit, trimmed in white, white accessories, and a corsage of pink and white rosebuds. Immediately following the cere mony a reception was held in the church parlors. 1 A band-crocheted table cloth, loaned for the occasion by Mrs. M. A. Bowman, covered the bride's table. The three-tiered cake, with white swans separating the tiers, was a beautiful confection decor ated with bells and leaves, and topped with a miniature bride and groom. It was served by Mrs. 8.R. Balslger, after the young couple had cut the first slice. , 'Arrangements of yellow tulips and white Hlacs, yellow and white candles, completed the table dec Mrs. Dale West presided at the coffee service; Mrs. Sam Hollan der was at the punch bowl; the guest book was passed by Mildred Schmldll, and Irene Behnke assist ed about the room. A blue and white check rayon suit, white white accessories was worn by- the bride for travel. After a week's trip to San Francisco, and "points south," the young cou ple Is at home In Merrill. .
