CHILOQUIN Joseph Mercer, principal of the Chiloquin high school during the past four years, was completely surprised Thurs day evening a week ago when the school staff gave both Mr. and Mrs. Mercer a farewell dinner and party at the Empire Room of the Winema hotel in Klamath Falls Following the dinner the teach ers gave a clever program wnn Mclvin Bay, grade school pnnct pal, acting as master of cere. monies, Oroup singing was led by. A scrapbook depicting the KLAMATH SADDLE CLUB ; The regular meeting of the Klam ath Saddle Club was held on June 2nd at the home of Mrs. Clyde Page. Plans were discussed for the Queen's tryouts and the forthcom ing events during rodeo season, as chaperones for the Queen and her court. After the business meet ing a baby shower was given for two of the members, Maureen Kee ner and Joyce Rlker. Refreshments were served by the hostesses, Dar lene Blackman, Fat Klrkpatrlck, Bessie Page and Bonnie McMahon. Manzanita Chapter Wound Up Year on With meetings suspended for the summer months, the meeting Fri day evening June 5 of Manzanita Chapter 173, OES, beckoned mem bers to far away places and to the great out-doors. The hall was ap propriately decorated by Georgian na Clark, and the huge bouquets of wild dog-wood and branches of the manzanita shrub In bloom showed signs of an enjoyable trip into our own beautiful Klamath country side. The napkins were pastel pansles with OTI in the comer and were made by Earl Bairey's silk screen class. At the time that this writer was there, Mrs. Olive Cornett and Mrs. Paul Landry were presiding at the coffee service. Mrs. Cornett was gowned In a lovely shade of pale magenta lace and Mrs. Landry was most becoming in soft grey. The hostesses were pictures in pastels . . . Mrs. Winston Pur vine, Mrs. Carl Stolpe, Mrs. Law rence French In luscious pink; Mrs. Charles Jacob!, Mrs. Ed Anderson and Mrs. G. C. Bcddow in shades of fresh lettuce green; Mrs. Wallace Uerllngs in French lilac; Mrs. Francis Mcintosh In a soft cream Chantllly lace; Mrs. Jesse Crabtree in peach taffeta; and Mrs. Marion Brown wore an electric-blue taffeta. She Is a high ranking student of Sacred Heart Academy and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Lee. She particu larly enjoys compositions of Bach and Deems Taylor. Mrs. George Hill WESTSIDE A baby shower was given May 28 in honor of Mrs. George (Delorls) Hill at the home o( Mrs. Andy Hill. The presents were heaped on a table in front of the fireplace.
