Tha stand Is primarily for selling large quantities of fruit and vege tables for canning, so that custom ers need not wait In turn with other grorery customers In the store when all they want Is a few lugs of fruit. Chiloquin History Study Set CHIIXXjUIN, July 1 The history of Chiloquin as a study In an thropology and sociology la tha basis of an eight weeks' project being undertaken by Dr. Theodora Stern of tha University of Oregon anthropology division and the three students taking summer school work under his direction. Tha em phasis will not be on personalities but on racial groups and on or ganizations and labor. , The group Is spending tha first weeks In getting acquainted wllh tha town. It surroundings and Its Inhabitants, listing names of those who will be able to trace various phases of tha comparatively new city, which waa Incorporated only 23 years ago. The last project on this order done by Dr. Stern was In the a lata of Virginia where the family treea and written material dated back some 360 yeara. Material gathered this summer will give tha basis for a research paper and possibly will later be Incorporated Into a broader writing Including tha entire reservation. Chiloquin Is thus tha basis of anthropological work for three doc tors this summer: Dr. Robert Spen cer of the University of Minnesota, who la doing a race and culture study; Dr. 8. L. Creasman, who Is continuing his work of tha past two summers In determining the extent of life In this area long before tha memory of present men, and Dr. Hlem. who Is tracing the history of the vicinity since the coming of the white man. With Dr. Stern are Hlrato ZakoJI. a senior at tha University from Portland; Eleanor Ribbons, a for mer Wave from New Jersey who now calls Portland home, and Patri cia Marks, from the University of California who moved here from England, where she had served In tha Wrens, since the war's end.
