A "fact iheet" with full Information about the Progress Dvs ex position to be hrld at the municipal airport was prepared today by Uie cnamucr 01 commerce aviation committee, sponsor or the event. Here In the text of the statement: ' Sammy Mason's "Hollywood Hawks" will be the featured attraction 1 at the Klamath Progress Days Air Shows and Exposition, sponsored by the Klamath County chamber of commerce. Mason Is a famous itunt and precision flyer himself, with elsht years of experience at the top of his profession. He has a troupe of equally proficient flyers and performers making up a well-rounded and diversified thrill show. Mason's show will be held at the Klamath municipal airport Monday afternoon, May 31, at 1 p. m. This Is a legal holiday. ; 8ammy Mason has a variety of special air- show planes, including a rebuilt Jenny of World War I vintage. This Jenny Is used In a re vival of'the old wing-walking act. so popular after the first World War. The wing walker hangs from the skids below the plane, walks along Uie wings and climaxes his performance by standing on the top wing while the plane docs two loops. At the top of the loop, while In an in verted position with his head toward the ground and Uie plane above him, this daredevil extends his arms and "makes like a bird,' accord ing to advance notices. Another performer does straight and delayed parachute jumps. Still another, after a series of breath-taking aerobaUcs, picks up a , handkerchief from the ground with his wingtlp. Some of the other acts are of a surprise variety so we can't tell about them In advance of the show. All are strictly professional and uie best obtainable In their class. Buttons admitting to the Sammy Mason show and to the other features of the Klamath Progress Days event are now on sale at the Klamath Chamber of Commerce office and at many business houses. A button costs $1.20, tax Included. Children 11 years old or younger will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Refreshments will be available at Uie airport. A home-talent air show will be held at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon. May 30, under the chairmanship of Bud Arnold, who is an old hand at aerobatics, himself. A good show Is assured, due to Uie number of flyers here who were hot pilots in military service. The exposition part of the event consists of displays of new cars, trucks, tractors, implements, industrial equipment, boats and motors. sporting goods, electrical appliances and building supplies. The ex hibits will be set up in Uie huge double hangar built but never used by the navy Jusi prior to giving up the local airport. There will be some thing of interest to everyone In the exhibits. Displays open at 12 noon on Sunday and at 10 a. m. on Monday. Potter To Push Charter TULELAKE, May 13 Don Pot ter, as chairman of a group of local men, will work between now and June 1, date of the primary elec tion In California, in the interest of the proposed charter form of gov ernment for Siskiyou county. Potter was Informed Tuesday of his ap pointment by L. D. Taylor, Duns mutr, chairman of the district or ganization favoring the charter. Fifteen freeholders are to be elect ed June 1, and after that date this group will prepare the charter for presentation to voters in November at the general election. Appointed to work with Potter are Earl Ager, W. H. Anderson, P. C. Bergman, Clark W. Fensler, Tom Kadous, L. C. Klrby, Katherine Ad dison, W. J. Shepherd. Charles K Wiese and W. H. Weltkamp. Hawaii Air Route -Action Asked :i Truman was asked Wednesday to i acfc lavoraoiy ionnwim ' on the Pacific Northwest's appllcaUon for direct air service to Hawaii. The request was made by the Northwest-Hawaii air route commit tee headed by Darwin Meisnest, Se attle. The committee action asserted Uie Northwest is being discriminated against, and that 11 western states, Including California, have approved the Northwest route. California Is the takeoff point for 30 scheduled trips, Uie resolution said. Meisnest said the committee ac tion followed word that Uie recom mendaUon of the civil aeronautics board approving the route had been referred back to the board by the president for further consideration. There were two sets of twins born. One set of boys, on April 16. and on April 20, a boy and a girl. There were 50 girl babies and S3 boy ba bies. Of the 38 deaths, nine wore cor oner cases. The preceding month of March saw 124 births and 26 deaths.
