A half-hour program, starting at 0:30 p. m. Thursday over KTLW. will feature artists who have been here or are expected to appear in Klamath Falls. Inland Empire Contracts Signed SPOKANE, April 32 WV-PlTt In land Empire lumber operators have signed new 198 contracts and negotiations are under way with four others. Orley D. Armstrong, business agent of the CIO Interna tional Woodworkers of America, said today. The new contracts call for an In crease of 13 't cents an hour in all cases. Armstrong said. This brings the district's top minimum to il.42'i or S.1J7H. depending on the pre vious contract. Secret Plant Strike Ends ALBUQUERQUE. N. M., April 32 W Workmen returned to a secret military construction project out side Albuquerque today to end a 10 day walkout. Settlement of a dispute Idling 700 men was announced late last night in a Joint statement from the six unions Involved and the contractor, the Peter Klewit company of Omaha. Neb. The construction Job is near the army's Sandia base, a special weap ons project. Military spokesmen have declined to Identify It further The work stoppage began April 13 when 58 carpenters struck In sup port of demands for a 55-cent In crease In their $1.75 hourly wage. Other unions honored the carpen ters' picket line. W. H. Wright, attorney for the Kiewit company, said the firm boosted the carpenters' pay to S3 and met the prevailing local wages for members of the other unions. Malheur and Harney counties were here today for the ninth annual conference of the Con fraternity of Christian Doctrine of the Cathojlc church. The session here is one of three meetings of the conference scheduled in the diocese of Baker City. A session was held at The Dalles April 30 and another will be con ducted at Klamath Falls April 37.
