Condemned Slayer Dies For Crimes WINNIPEG; Manitoba, April 18 oO Lawrence Deacon, 36, was hanged for murder early today despite appeals for commutation of his sentence by 14.000 private clt Irens. He was twice convicted 3t the Iron-boll slaying of Taxi Driver Johann Johnson In March. 1948. The defense Insisted the verdict was un justified because the evidence was circumstantial. Driving Course OK'd Amos E. Neyhart. driver training specialist for the American Auto mobile association, authorized the third teacher-training course In driver education for Oregon, while In Portland recently. The course will be held August 33-37, under the Joint sponsorship of the Oregon state system of high er education and the Oregon State Motor association. Arrangements for the course will be made by the Portland extension center, as the course will be part of the summer work of the stale. Professor Neyhart will be brought to Portland by the Motor associ ation, Oregon AAA affiliate, to leach the class. He taught the two pre vious classes at which more than 100 Oregon high school teachers received certification as Instructors in high school driver education and training. Teachers who attend the class re ceive three hours credit, graduate or under graduate, the Motor asso ciation announced. Schools with trained teachers become eligible to receive free dual control road train ing cars, assigned by the AAA and loaned by local dealers. Cars are loaned only after their assignment has been approved on the basis of properly qualified teachers offering approved courses of instruction. Two Killed In Car Collision PORTLAND, April 18 W A col lision of two cars killed Robert E. Mellor, 33, and his young woman passengers early Thursday, and In Jured two other occupants of the car. Schools Slate Musicale The music teachers of Klamath Falls grade schools are busy re hearsing their acts for the annual ail-city extravaganza which will be presented April 23 at 8 p. m., in the KUHS auditorium. Those who are not familiar with this unique entertainment put on by the music department can look forward to something new, colorful and varied. Each elementary school gives a sample of its best In music, acting, showmanship and costum ing. Hundreds of children will partici pate In the show. Tickets go on sale this week and can be purchased through the grade schools. Admis sion Is 80 cents. Tulelake Farmer Dies TULELAKE. April 18 Clayton Warring, about 60. of Tulelake. died at 6:32 p. m. Thursday at his home, three miles east of Tule lake. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Warring started into a field when he became 111 and returned to the house where he died shortly afterwards. He had been In 111 health for some time. He was a veteran of World War 1 and was one of the 1938 home steaders In Tulelake. He wo a member of the Tulelake American Legion post. Warring Is survived by his wife, Llllle, and a brother, Earl, both of Tulelake. and one daughter. Patsy, who Is a student at the University of Oregon. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Earl WhlUock's funeral home.
