JO, 749 Klamath Flying lews By JOY BK'.GB Mnun Parachuted A message dropped in a silk hand kerchief from a plane over Lake o' the Woods Monday conveyed to Jim Elledge news of his father's Illness In Everett, Wash. Keith Moon was flown over the lake oy Pilot Penny Payne and after burling Caretaker Ed Morse's where Elledge la flaying he dropped the 'chute made of a llk scarf containing the message. Russell Elledge, Jim's brother, re ceived word of their father's serious illness and told Moon, who arranged to drop the message. Roads to Lake o' the Woods are Impassable by car part of the way. Flight Changes United Air Lines flight schedule for March has no change for the northbound morning flight leaving from Klamath airport at 11:20, flight 167. Thert will be a five-minute change In flight 187 afternoon northbound which will leave at 7 p. m. Instead of CSS p. m. Quito a change is being made in the morning southbound which now leaves at 11:06. Beginning March 1, it will leave at 10:60 a. m. going through Redding and Sacramento with no change of planes at the Ban Francisco stop and non-stop from there to Burbank, arriving at 4:06 p. m. Flight 264 southbound will leave at 8:20 p. m. instead of 8:66 p. m. topping in Sacramento and Oak land and arriving in San Francisco - ,t 11:15 p. m. Passengers continuing t oWlf will change here on this flight. New Flight ' United Air Lines is contemplat ing resuming the flight to Eugene which operated last summer and discontinued In the fall. It will be started again in either April or May according to tentative plans. Visitor O. E. "Tex" Autry of the Portland traffic office of United Air Lines spent three days in Klamath Falls thus week conferring with Harold Clapp of World Wide Travel bureau and getting acquainted with local business men. Mexican Flight Wives of the men who left Sunday and Monday on the flight to Mexico have all received messages by phone and mail that the weather is perfect and a good time being had by alL Delos "Whltey" Mills and Dick Reeder left Sunday In their Cessna and are now enjoying the sunshine and sail fishing in Mexico. The ethers, Dave Zumwalu Matt Kohn, Merrin Wilde, Jess Smith, Jerry and Laddie Rajnus and Jlmmie Otto man. Bill Rajnus drove Kohn. Wilde and Smith to Reno where they joined the flight along with two men from Palo Alto. Zumwalt flew Jerry Laddie and Jimmy in a Stinson. Hops And Landings ' Penny Payne Hew Henry New housvto Missoula, Mont, on a busi ness trip three days last week, re turning Saturday. He took an Er toupe. Tom Lenhart, a partner of Lake land Flying service, flew L. R. Thompson, Klamath Falls business man, to Alturas Monday on business in an Ercoupe. Jerry Short has purchased a new Ercoupe from Lakeland and is tak ing flying Instruction. He started last week-end and is about ready for his solo. New Club A group of Interested airmen of Dorrls and vicinity met Tuesday night to organise a flying club. There la a landing field about one fourth mile northeast of Dorrls. Les Chase was mimed chief pilot: C. E. "Tip" Humphrey, engineer; Virgil Holbrook. co-pilot. The group talked of tentative plans for an Air Day to be held in April and Is offering a prise of a flight over Lower Klamath lake, Klamath basin and the lava beds as a prize for a name for the club. The contest Is open to all Butte valley residents. Operation Sunshine Mike and Margie Houser will leave in their Ercoupe Saturday for Mexico on the trip "Operation Sun shine." Planes will leave Troutdale airport. Portland, at 8 a. m. Satur day and the Housers will pick up the flight here. There will be 35 planes in the flight coming from Portland, Pendleton, Bend and Mcdford. The Bend and Pendleton group will put down at Klamath airport and pick up the flight in Sacra mento according to present plans. There is a rumpus room, a two-rai garage and a shop room, besides a concrete-floored outdoor living room The interior walls are finished in canvas over sheetrock with a good ly portion of the main room in natural birch paneling. The rumpus room and boy s bedroom are finished in knotty pine. Concrete floors are laid through out the house w hich has no base ment. The floors are entirely car peted with the exception of batlis and rumpus room. Bedrooms have large clothes presses with sliding doors and closed shoe shelves below. The closets are cedar lined. In the master bedroom the bed and chests of drawers arc built-in. The rear of the house extends with wings on either side of the mam room enclosing the outdoor living room and tho garage Juts forward from the front of the house. The exterior Is finished In rough-sawn siding with oil stain. Sheldon Brumbaugh Is the architect. Handy Animal In Burma, the signal corps used elephants in pole-line construction.
