The new 23-mlle-per-hour speed sign, recently erected on the high way entering Wocus Is greately ap preciated by the residents of that area. A good time was had at the box social on Saturday night, and many have asked that It be repeated In the near future. The community wishes to thank all who came and helped to make the affair a big success. Plans are being made to erect the shelters for the kids with the pro-' cecds gathered from the auctioning of the boxes. Group Defends Property Survey PORTLAND. Aug. 14 tJPi A formal statement was Issued today by the Portland Home Builders' as sociation approving a statement by Its natlonul president criticizing veterans' administration property apprnlsals. E. R. Carr, Washington, D. C, president of the national associa tion, declared earlier this week the VA appraisal policies were unfair to builders and discourages them from erecting homes needed by veterans. The Portland group's statement was In Carr's defense after com ments by Portland mortgage firm spokesmen and others supporting the VA policies.
