Bribery Probe Delves Further Info Sports Another Gambler Sought For Connection With Football 'Fix' Attempt; Graziano Hearing Set For Friday NEW YORK, Jun, 29 (P) Middleweight Boxer Rocky Graziurio will have opportunity Fri day to convince the New York Athletic commission that the $100,000 bribe offer he claims to have received was too "ridiculous" to report. Irving Cohen, Graziano's man ager, said he asked the cancel lation after the fighter devel oped a back ailment. Hogan had said Graziano "faked" a sore back to halt the match. Eagan said the commission can "take disciplinary action if a fighttr has been offered a bribe and has not reported it to the commission." Ha added that he would make no statement regarding the Graiiano-Zale match prior to Friday's hearing. Last September Graziano gave Zale a pounding before the champion rallied ,in the sixth round to win by a knock out. Their re-match was ex pected to draw a gate that would net Graziano close to $100,000. Hogan, declining to comment on Graziano's complaint that his story was misinterpreted, meanwhile sent out a 48-state alarm for David (Pete) Kra kauer. indicted on bribery and conspiracy charges in connec tion with an attempt to "fix" the National Professional Foot ball league title game Decem ber 15. Krakauer, described by Ho gan as a "known gambler." was one of three men indicted Mon day after the grand jury had heard testimony by Alvin J. Paris, who was convicted Janu ary 8 of offering bribes to Frank Filchock and Merle Hapes of the New York Giants to "throw" the December 15 game to the Chicago Bears. The bribes were not accepted. The Bears won, 24 to 14. The other two indicted were Harvey Stemmer and Jerome Zarowitz, who pleaded innocent at their arraignment yesterday. Zarowita. said by police to be a clerk in an Elizabeth. N. J., bet-making office for which Paris was front man. was held in S 10.000 bail. Jan. 29 (jP) The house game committee today re commended passage of bills to let the state game commission estab lish a new system of tagging deer, so that each piece of meat would not have to be labeled, and prohibiting non - residents from hunting or trapping fur bearing animals. The committee also recom mended bills prohibiting the bor rowing of hunting or fishing licenses, placing all of the Ump qua river under game commis sion control, and compelling hunters to notify the game com mission of elk kills. The committee delayed action on bills to increase the fees for non-resident hunting and angling licenses. Talking Frog Now Talks Alone SALEM, Jan. 29 W The Marion county talking frog has hopped away and Matthew Tom Nix says he will have to train another second voice. Nix explained that the tiny frog he has used to keep in practice the vocal chords once stricken by paralysis jumped from the jar in which he carried it. The frog is presumably out in the fields speaking for itself. The Marion farmer earlier had claimed that he regained use of his vocal chords by using the small frog in his mouth to emit sounds. Later his own chords strengthened and he only used the frog to amuse friends and keep his own voice strong. About 18 per cent of Ameri cans are engaged in farming. Jan. 29 CP The third meeting of Heavy weight Champion Joe Louis and Chilean Arturo Godoy is ex pected to draw 47.000 fans and between $80,000 and $100,000 when the, two square off in a 10-round exhibition bout here Feb. 5. The bout will be staged at the new Plaza Mexico, built at a cost of $15,000,000 and ad mission prices will range from five pesos ($1) for general ad mission to 150 pesos (S30) for ringside seats.
