Standard Truck Measure Gets Approval Of Many LAKEVIEW. Jan. 14 Hopes for successful passage of the standard truck measure have been raised by a group of fa vorable replies to letters Issued last week to all members of tho legislature by the Lake County chamber of commerce. The chamber letter points out the importance of truck trans portation to Lake and surround ing counties, and urged support of the bill which will be intro duced to put Oregon on the same footing with the ten other western' states on truck legis lation. Legislation for standard truck laws has the backing of the Oregon Association of County Courts, Oregon State grange, Oregon Farm Bureau, and vir tually all livestock and agricul tural organizations in the state. Replies have been received by the Lake county chamber from Senators Howard C. Bel ton of Canby, president of the senate during the last session, Merle Chessman of Astoria, w. W. Most of the abovo senators and representatives replied fa vorably to the letters, and even those formerly opposed to the bill indicated that relict from transportation problems in this section of Oregon is justifed. A number of the legislators indi cated that they would follow the leadership of Rep. Burt K. Snyder of Lakeview, who has filedged his efforts to secure the egislation needed. Stat Police Arrest 2296 SALEM, Jan. 14 ') Stale police arrested 2296 persons in November for traffic law viola tions, with fines totaling $18. 223. There were 42 arrests for drunken driving. Arrests In the general law enforcement division numbered 268, with fines of $3366. There ) were 261 arrests for game vio lations, fines totaling $7481.
