Ice Storage Plant Planned Tho Western Fruit Express company hu applied for permis sion to build a 1000-ton capacity Ice storage plant in Klamath Falls replacing the old, small storage building now in use. The civilian production ad ministration In Portland re ceived the application till week, but no action has been taken, Thu new building will be locat ed In the Great Northern yards, according to present plans. W. B. DcWIlt, station foreman for WFL, said today that busi ness has outgrown present facili ties In this area necessitating ad ditional space. The Icing plat form, which now has a 10-car capacity, will be enlarged to double Its present size. No estimate on the cost of the structure Is available. DeWitt stated that construction of the plant has been hold off in recent years because of a shortage of neccssnry materials, hut build ing will begin immediately if the CPA approves the project. The company hopes to have the plant operating in time to handle the next rush shipping period in early June. Jan 14 lar, Mrs. Dorothy Smith, 32 died early today, victim of the same food poisoning which claimed the life of her husband, Vern John Smith, last Wednes day. She had been in a hospital since they were found in their home, the husband dead and the wife unconscious. Nelson, a paratrooper In the 82nd airborne division, la the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Newt Nelson, 1951 S. 6th. He arrived by plane December 23 for the holidays with his parents and sister Faye, and found the town greatly changed, he said, since he left it nearly seven months ago. Nelson graduated from KUHS with the class of 1948. He played left end on the Pelican football team and high-jumped for the track team.
