June 12 fPj The price of that elusive loaf of bread advanced a penny today with OI'A approval. The Increuso la effective Im mediately, ulong with a price boost of one cent a dozen for bicud rolls. The higher prices upply to nil kinds of bread except rye, which went up two cents a loaf April 30. Prices are being raised, OPA said, because bakers' production costs have climbed as a result ol u 25 per cent cut in the umount of flour they muy use. The reduction was ordered to help meet famine relief re quirements. OPA said that before the flour cut, bukers made a "small profit" by spreading their costs over a lurge output of breud louvcs. It udded that the effect oi trimming production has been a substuntiiil Increase in the coat per louf. For this reason, OPA mild, bukers "no longer are in a posi tion to continue selling at prices 'frozen' at March, 1942 levels."
