' Mnrycnrol Jones, former wel fare worker here, has returned to tho United States after serv ing with the American Red Cross in Luzon, Philippine Islands, according to a coll re ceived by friends here the other night. ... - Miss Jones returned on Mon day evening after a 22-dny trip across the Pacific from, Luzon and she Is to report to Wash ington, ' D. C, on August 24. She returned to the States to receive treatment for a bnck Injury received when sho fell from n Jeep while serving With the Red Cross in New Guinea. Service Wives The Servicemen's Wives club met for their regular Thursday evening meeting this week with a feature being a no hostess pot luck supper. The group met in the lounge of the USO at 7 o'clock with spe- cial guests of the evening being Mrs. Kuth Glasgow, new USO di- rector here, and Ann Dirks - meier. Womens Clubs.Make Plans For Affair. Plans are now being made for the annual f&ll tea and flower show given every year by the members of -the Klamath Falls Women's Library club and the Garden dub. This year the event will take place on Saturday afternoon, September 8, at the Library clubrooms. A feature of the after noon will be a fall revue of fashions with the theme of the meet ing being "Fashions and Flow- ers. A musical program will also be presented. The Garden club has an nounced that anyone Interested ir. making a display of their flowers, vegetables or weeds is invited to do so. whether thev are members of the Garden club or not. The arrangements will not enter in a comDetitive con test this year but will be for display only. Klamath Falls Library and Garden club members are also invited to the silver tea and dis play of war trophies to be held on this Sunday. August 19, at 2 p. m. at Merrill when the Lost River Garden club will sponsor the affair. Women are also invited to bring trophies they have re ceived from someone overseas and display them at the meeting. Slumber Party A slumber .party celcbratine the birthday of Donna Blake and Mrs. Bud Peterstciner was given by Mrs. Peterstciner, the former Edna Renner, at her home at 325 South Fifth street on August 12. Twelve were present, and later in the evening they ad journed to the house for cards, with Ruth Stanley, Bertha Bishop and Stella Dryden hold ing high score. The place for the next meeting has not yet been decided. , Major and Mrs. Fred Ehlcrs are the parents of a son born Saturday morning, August 18, in San Francisco, according to word received here this morn ing by Mrs. Ehler s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Collier of Pa cific Terrnce. Mrs. Ehlers is the former Eleanor Collier. The baby boy has been named Fred crick Douglas. Moser of Lcwiston, Ida,, and Joe Wil kins of Boise have spent the past two weeks at the home of Mr, and Mrs. Warren Noggle on Homedale road. Dr. and Mrs. Moser are the parents of Mrs. Noggle. On their return to Idaho, they will visit with Mr. and Mrs. Louis H. Helphrey and family of Bend and the Roland Wilkins of Boise., ' From Salem Visiting here as guests of Mrs. James Kerns of 446 La guna are Mrs. Bob H. Napier and Mrs. H. Wendell Patch, both of Salem. Mrs. Kerns has been visiting recently in The Dalles and Salem and she and young daughter Betty Jean were accompanied home by the two Salemites. Mrs. Napier is the former Peggy Hay who will be remem bered as a teacher at Klamath Union high school several years ago. Her husband, Lt. Napier, is on duty with the army, in Italy. Lt. Col. Patch is with the 10th air force in China at the present. The two women will remain here until August 24 when they will, return to their homes in Salem. BPW Meets Sunday The final social affair of the summer season for the Business and Professional Women's club will be held on Sunday, August 19. when Emma Carter will pre side as hostess at her home on South Sixth street. Members have been invited for 4 o'clock when a picnic sup per will be served around the outdoor grille in- the yard and, according to those in the know. the menu has an appetizing sound. Those planning to attend 1 have been requested to call Mrs. 'Carter and make reservations Sunday Picnic Veterans , of Foreign Wars, Pelican post 1383, members of the auxiliary and their fam ilies held- their annual . picnic in Moore park Sunday, August 12, and over 75 were present. The potluck picnic was served at noon, and was followed by games and contests of strength and skill. It was the first wed ding Mr. Crandall had attended since his own.
