Newspaper Page TextSIX HERALD AND NEWS Church Circles Meet Thursday Afternoon The four circles of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the First Methodist church met on Thursday, August 0. Circle one met at the new homo of Mrs. W. B. Christensen of 2027 Fremont and she was assisted by Mrs. C. H. Barnstable. Dessert was served at J:30 p. m. and Mrs. E. W. Mocabee, chairman, con ducted the business meeting, at which plans were laid for a rum mage sale to be held in September. Mrs. McBride led the devo tions and Mrs. waiter ncrnoon was in charge 01 me icsson. Eleven members attended. Circles two and three united for a picnic at the home of Mrs. Earl Redman of 803 Front. Each circle held a short business meeting after luncheon, and Mrs. George Casper was leader of de votions for both circles. There was no lesson, and the rest of the afternoon was spent in sew ing and visiting. Thirty mem bers and guests attended. Mrs. H. S Wood, of 1963 Au burn, entertained circle four for dessert at 1:30 and she was as sisted by her daughter, Mrs. John Yadon. The previous day was Mrs. Wood's eigniy-secona hirthdav. and Mrs. Yadon served a large birthday cake In her honor. Twenty-three attended. and there were two guests, Mrs. Charles Roberts and Mrs. ThomDson. both of Eugene Mrs. Paul Edwards had charge nf the lesson and Mrs. John Ya don the devotions, taking as her theme a nature lesson which Was much enjoyed. The business meeting was in charge of Mrs. S. H. Snell, chairman of the cir cle. All circles are studying a book upon the North American Indian at present, 5 Victory Club The Midland Victory club met at the home of Mrs. Charles Gray on Wednesday, August 15, with a double birthday party in honor of Charline Gray and Dan- ny Paddock who were both three years old. Many lovely gifts were enjoyed by the children. Games were enjoyed on the lawn by tne following 18 chil dren: Terry Lee and Shirley Ann Buhrig, Bob and Mary Ann Weinright, Ruth Ann and Danny Paddock. Raton Mistier. Mav- nard and Darrell Chaffee, Char- ime jittyr r.auie ana wary Burke, Catherine and Wynne Milanl, Anna Rae Bollman and Sharon Kuhlman. Mothers of the children and members of the Victory club present at the party were Mrs. Wendle Weinright, Edna Trav ers, Gladis Buhrig, Mrs. Louis Paddock, Mrs. J. H. Phipps, Mrs. George Flowers, Mrs. Chaffee. Mrs. John Mistier, Mrs. Edward Burke, Mrs. Fred Milanl and Mrs. Charles Gray. Mrs. George Flowers won the special prize. 8 $ Auxiliary The Townsend auxiliary met on Wednesday, August 8, at the home of Betty Allen for a pot luck luncheon and business meeting. The president, Bernice McCracken, presided at the meeting. Mrs. Highley was a special guest of the afternoon. Members present were Ber nice McCracken, Eva Myers, Nettie Schiminesky, L u r a Brazee, Mrs. Gerew, Mrs. Mc Whithey, Maude Cross, and the hostess, Betty Allen. The next meeting will be on August 22 at the home of Daisy Douglas at Modoc Point. Mem bers are asked to be at the home of Eva Myers at 500 N. 9th not later than 10 o'clock on that date. Mr.' and Mrs. Al Roome of Oakland, Calif., are visitors this weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Baldy Evans of 2044 Vine. The Roomes are the parents of Mrs. Evans. Finsr WAS at this low price! The colors of pink and white were carried out with the table centered with a large cake. Seven Years Old SPRAGUE RIVER Friday, July 13. was the seventh birth day of Emilee Ann Carter, when she invited 14 little girls to help here celebrate. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. Z. Carter and will be in the second grade this fall when school starts. Games were played and ice cream and a large birthday cake were served. A fish pond with favors for all was a special fea ture for the little girls. Those invited were Mabel Ellen Thompson, Martha Jane Roper, Charlotte Barney, Shelia Ann Hale, Sylvia Hill, Clidene Roper, Jessie Lee Roper, Linda Story, Clarene Welch, Donna Lee Carter, Mary Jane Mc Bride, Beverly Johnston, Ruby McNair and Jessie Lee Kelley. Party hours were from two until four and were spent playing games. Covers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hansen and daughter Nadine, Mrs. Frank Cardoza and Marcia Hofter. all of Klamath Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Sparks and children Bonnie and Billie. To Leave BONANZA Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Eyers, residents of this com munity for almost 20 years, have sold their home and are moving to their new home near Grants Pass. They were honored last Fri day evening with a party spon sored jointly by the Oddfellow and Rebekah lodges and the Bonanza Nazarene church and Sunday school. During the course of the eve ning games were enjoyed by the young people, and the guests of honor were presented with a lovely wool blanket by the church group and a walnut cof fee table by the lodge. Mr. and Mrs. Eyers have been active in community organiza tions for many years. Second of the series of card parties sponsored by Women of the Moose was held in the Moose hall on Friday, August 10.
