Mrs. Schultz and Marjorle re turned lo Sun Jose on Thursday morning. Mrs. Schultz wns the guest ot Mrs. Sylvia McClelland ot her homo nt 1042 Arthur during her stay here. Marjorle, who orrlvcd here before the Fourth of July holidays, was a Ruest of Nannette Schubert at the Schubert home on Bisbeo street. The two were honored Wednesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Loren Palmerton on Pacific Terrace at an infor mal buffet supper. Greeting the visitors were Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Reiner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Reiner of DuBois, Pa., and Thomas B. Young of Klamath Falls were married Friday, June 20, at the Klamath Lutheran church by the Rev. S. M. Top ness. The double ring ceremony was used. The bride, a member of the navy nurse corps, wore a full dress white summer uniform with a corsage of pink rosebuds. The matron of honor, Mrs. Ran dolph Hnmm, wore a navy blue ensemble and a corsage of pink rosebuds. Marine Sergeant Randolph Hnmm attended the groom as best man. The bride, who Is stationed at the Marine Barracks naval dis pensary, and the groom, superin tendent of the Klamath Heating company, will make their home In Klamath Falls. Middleton of Houston. Van Ordcn and two children, George Jr. and Florette, have been honored at many informal affairs this past week, and next week also promises to be a busy one for them. The Van Ordens are leaving the Marine Barracks next week and at that time Col. Merlin Schneider will assume command of the post. Last week Mrs. Van Orden was guest of honor at a progressive no-hostess luncheon with guests being served different courses at different Homes This past Monday evening. Col. and Mrs. Van Ordcn were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Matthews at their home on Pa cific Terrace, and on Tuesday night, Dr. and Mrs. Lowell Cog gcshall entertained for them at the officer's mess at the Bar racks. The staSf non-commissioned officer's club next to the Wil lord hotel was the scene of a farewell party given for the Soroptimists Install Officers Wednesday . Kathleen Thompson was installed as tho new president of the Soroptimist club on Wednesday noon nt the Willard hotel. The 1045-40 officers were installed after a brief business meeting and two new members wore also Initiated at this time. Those who will bo assisting Mrs. 'Thompson during-the com ing year In the organization are Alice Lamm, first vice president: Doris Peyton, second vice president; Alice Howard, recording secretary; Lena Robbins, corresponding secretary; Gertrude Moore, treasurer, nnd new board members, Catherine Brum baugh, Olive Cornett and Lil- linn Hlllls. An honored guest for the meeting was Pearl Young who brought greetings from tho Summer Guests Being Honored With the advent of general midsummer lull, visitors In town ore prompting most of the recent social activities. Ad vantage Is being taken by many of the opportunity to take a few days or weeks off and spend some time at cabins and homes ut nearby mountain lakes. Most cabins at the lakes have been full to the brim during the past several weeks of warm weather. Spending some time here now as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. 11. R. Macartney at their home on Washington street, are Margaret Taylor of Wellslcy, Mass., and her sister, Mrs. Lcs Avrit, tho former Sally Taylor. Mrs. Avrlts husoand, a former KUHS Instructor, is now serv ing overseas. The two are spend' Ing this weekend at the Frank lin Weaver cottage at Lake o' the Woods. Another visitor here for the fast two weeks nas Decn jean laugcr of San Francisco, who has been spending some time with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Hauucr of Pacific Terrace. Jean leaves Sunday morning to return to San Francisco, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Weaver returned to San Francisco last Sunday after visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin L. Weaver of Auburn street. Young Connie Weaver Is still here with her grandparents. For the benefit of those who arc not so fortunate in oeing able to go to the lake for these warm weekends, two swimming pools are now open for public use. The. pool at one end of Modoe field is being ODcned for an adult swimming program this weekend and the huge new pool at the Marine Barracks is open for civilian use evenings after six o'clock with the exception of Thursday and after one o'clock on Wednesdays, Saturdays ana Sundays. For those who enjoy pho- toeraDhv. a wonderful opportun ity has been offered by the USO at their camera club meetings. Dark room facilities have also been opened to tho public and those interested need only to sign up for a certain time and the equipment will be available to them. Engagement Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Deneault of 1415 Oregon avenue, Klamath Falls, have announced tne en of their daughter. An- nabellc Dcnault, to Homer De puy, S 3c, son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Depuy of this city. Plans for the wedding have nnt vet been made. Homer has. recently been home on a 26-day leave after being stationed in Alaska and the Aleutian islands for the past year. He is now stationed in San Francisco. Miss Deneault, a 1945 graduate of Sacred Heart academy, is now employed by the United States department of agriculture. 8 : Ruth Palmer of 1129 Crescent, was hostess to the Thursday Contract club on the afternoon of June 28, and the assisting hostess was Alice Lawrence. Plans are now being made for receptions which will be given next week for the new colonel and his wife when they arrive, president of the Stockton Sorop timist club. This gathering marked the close of a busy and successful year for tho Soroptimists, and tho outgoing president wos complimented by the club mem bers for her untiring work and tho success of the major pro ject, Soroptimist House, home for servicemen and their wives, at 73 Pine, Tho club will vacation until September 1 wh,cn members will have their first meeting of the new year, , " Mrs. R. H. Merrltt, the former Betty Buchanan, left Saturday, July 7, for San Francisco where she was to meet her husband who has been recently stationed In Kansas. ' Ho was in the bay city on a delay en route to his new station at Piute, Tex., and the couple Is spending that time In the bay area.- USO Dance A Pan-American dance with rhumbas and a conga line are in store for servicemen attending the Monday night dance on July 16 at the USO clubrooms at 11th and Walnut. Junior hostesses will be in charge of the dance and music will be furnished by the Marine Barracks band. Decorations will be put up for the dance by Junior hostesses and servicemen at a party to be held on Saturday '. night at the USO starting at 8 o'clock; Small replicas of Pan-American flags will be used around the room and girls will wear bright col ored dresses in the "fiesta" theme for the Monday dance. On Sunday, the USO will be entirely staffed by girls from the junior nostess organization. Girls will be stationed at the snack bar, the soda fountain, the check room and the information desk. t: , 5 .. ' Bride Honored A bridal shower honoring Mrs. W. H. Baustien, the former Pat Richardson, was given - on Fri day, July 6, at the home of Mrs. Wcs Harsey on , 4525 Bisbee. Mrs. Harsey was assisted by Mrs. J. F. Ferguson. Many beautiful gifts were received by Mrs. Baustien. . . Refreshments were' served to Mrs. T. H. Massey, Mrs. D. S. Mathis, Mrs. C. H. Hagen, Mrs. E. L. Barnes, Mrs. W. F. Uppen dahl, Mrs. Roy Call, Mrs. Floyd Stewart, Mrs. Eddie Richardson, Mrs. Charles Bowles, Mrs. Pio D'Olivo, Mrs. F. R. Thomas, Betty Harsey, the guest of honor, and the hostesses. Mrs. Baustien left for San Mateo last Saturday morning to be with her husband who is now stationed near there at San Bruno. Navy Wives The Navy Wives club will en joy its monthly luncheon and cards this coming Wednesday, July 18, at the BOQ of the naval air station. At this time plans will be discussed for the picnic to be held for members and their husbands. Those planning to attend the luncheon, are asked to call Mrsl W. P. Leonard Leitzke of Klamath Falls and Erna Leese of Everett. Several Klamath Falls people attended the ceremony. Klamath Resident 5 Weds In North :1 Before a large group of friends, Erna Lese, daughter of Mr.'' I and Mrs. William Leese of Everett, Wash., became the bride of ;i Tech. Sgt. Leonard Leitzke, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Leitzke of"? Klamath Falls, in a ceremony at the Immanuel Lutheran church in Everett in June. The bride was lovely in a gown fashioned with a white satin bodice with long sleeves and a net chiffon skirt. She wore a fingertip veil caught in a coronet of orange blossoms and carried a bouquet of white rosebuds with sweet peas. She was given In" marriage oy ner tatner. - Her matron of honor. Mrs. Fred Hanenburg, wore a pale pink chiffon gown with shirred top and full skirt and carried sweet peas. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Clifford Schultz and Ruth Krause who wore gowns of sim ilar style, one pink and one in blue. A niece of the bride, Claudia Hanenburg, was flower girl and wore a gown of white over blue taffeta. Lincoln Leitzke, broth er of the groom, was the best man.
