At this time there will be a demonstration of canning, drying and freezing with Mrs. Ernest D. Lamb in charge as sisted by Mrs. Horace E. Gctz, Mrs. Will Wood and Mrs. A G. Proctor. The dryer, to be used dur ing tho demonstration, I louned to Garden club mem bers through the courtesy of Klamath Union high school. All types of preserving will be given actual demonstra tion including the preparation of fruits and vegetables for tho freezing unit. . MRS. Miner Popular Local Girl Marries in Church Ceremony On Sunday; Reception Later In an Impressive and beautiful ceremony read In the First Presbyterian church on last Sunday, July the eighteenth, Miss Dale Motley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grovcr C. Motley, be came tho bride of Lieutenant Charles Miner. Tho ceremony was solemnized at three o'clock and the Reverend A. Theodore Smith officiated. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was lovely in an ivory satin gown with sweetheart neckline deco rated by smull seed pearls. Her veil of illusion net was caught with a coronet of small seed pearls, and she carried a bou quet of gardenias and lilies of the valley. The twin sister of tho bride. Miss Gnlo Motley, was the moid of honor and Mr. Robert Miner, a brother of the groom was the best man. Brides maids were Miss Lucy Kim ball and Miss Peggy Keating. The young ringbcaror was Dale Ring. Ushers were George Cornell Jr., and An drew Soul6. The moid of honor was dressed in a gown with a pink lace bodice and a skirt of white marquisette with pink ruffles. The two bridesmaids wore matching dresses of white with veils of white net caught at the crown of the head with pink carnations. All three at tendants carried old-fashioned bouquets of flowers. A reception was Inter held in tho banquet room of the Wiilard hotel for wedding guests. Assisting about tha room were the bridesmaids, tho maid of honor. Miss Laura Kimball and Miss Betty Lea Dntlcy. The wedding cake was cut by the bride and groom and later served by Miss Gale Mot ley. Drury and two children Karen and Don are leaving with Mr. Drury for Mexico where they will make their home. Many parties were given this week for Mrs. Drury and other Klamath people who are making their homes In other cities. Kathleen Livingston Miner is stationed for the present. Miss Motley attended the University of Oregon for one year and with her twin was a popular member of the college group here. Lieutenant Miner attended Oregon State college for two years before entering the serv ice. He has been stationed in England but returned to the United States this last winter. FRIENDS HONOR MRS. Nevada street on Thursday evening, July the twenty second, In honor of Mrs. Ernie McGoran who Is leav ing with her two children, Anita Mary and Ernest Charles for a visit with her parents in Vancouver, British Columbia. She will then go to Sacra mento to join her husband who is employed there and they will make their home in that city. Johnson was guest of i honor at a shower given for her Tuesday even ing, July the twentieth, at eight o'clock. Vases shaped like baby car riages and filled with sweet peas and other summer flow ers were placed about the rooms. Sohrakoff were married on June the sixteenth at the parsonage of the First Baptist church in Klamath Falls. The ceremony was read at five o'clock and the Rev erend C. C. Brown officiated. ' Best man for the ceremony was Mr. Mike Sohrakoff and Evelina Sohrakoff was the maid of honor. The bride was dressed in a beige colored suit with blue accessories and a corsage of pink rosebuds and gardenias. A reception was held later at the homo of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ohles, the bride's par ents, near Weyerhaeuser. Mr. Sohrakoff, who is with the navy as a machinists mate 2c has been in the service for three years. He is now going to school at Bremer ton, Washington and Mrs. Sohrakoff is staying with her parents. Leave for Fasf Klamath Girl to Study Drama in Theatre Colon ' At Priscilla Beach, Cape Cod Lois Phillips, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Victor Phillips, will leave her home here on Wednesday for Plymouth, Massa chusetts to attend the summer training base of the National Association of Dramatics, Incorporated. Miss Phillips has been appointed a member of this year's theatre colony at Prlscllia ' Beach on Cape Cod. The training consists of actor-ln-trainlng studies under professional actors and directors, stage make-up, acting tech nique, fencing, dancing, voice and diction, among other things. f"TY TO EAST Lois Phillips is leaving this coming Wednesday for the east where she will take training for drama work. Every week a different play Is produced and as many as three plays are in rehears al at one time. This year these productions will be given; at various army camps stationed In Massachusetts, at the play house In the theatre colony, the U S O. shows, and the pro fessional theatre in Plymouth which is a branch of the school Itself. Talent scouts and visit ing professional people are daily visitors to the colony.' ' Miss Phillips (s a graduate of KUHS with the class of 1940 and was active In drama there under the direction of Mrs. B. B. Blomquist. She is now a senior at Willamette university in Salem, major ing in drama. She served this past year as president of Theta -Alpha Phi, national drama honorary, member of the lit tle theatre, Willamette Radio Guild, and the Willamette players, beside serving as vice president of the junior class. She took the lead in sever al dramatic productions, " In cluding "The Philadelphia Story" and "Arsenic and Old Lace". one was awarded the pre sent scholarship through her dramatic coach, Mrs- Margar et B. SOUTH A V Mrs. Wilbur Jones of 203 High ' street has returned from a short trip which took her to Antioch, California, to see her grandson, Larry Me-'- haffey Jr., who is a corporal, in the marine corps. He is home on a thirty-day fur- . lough from the South Paciilo and came directly from New .Zealand where he has been : for a short time. He has been in the marines for almost two years. -Mrs. Jones went south with her son. .Don Newhurv. And family of Medford. The Don Newburys were hosts at a family dinner at the Clare mont hotel in Berkeley, Call . fornia, on Monday evening honoring Corporal Mehaffey. The Carl Newburys of Wal nut Creek also entertained at family gatherings and the Wilbur Jones Jr. family of Pittsburgh, California . were among those present at all celebrations. ' : BRITTS GIVEN FAREWELL PARTY BY FRIENDS Mrs. Frank Killian enter tained at an open house at her ' home on 724 Mitchell street on Tuesday evening, July the twentieth, in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Britt, who are leaving to make their home in Missouri. About fifty-three of their friends were present to bid them farewell. Mrs. Walter ' Pomeroy and Mrs. John Pat terson presided at the tea table and Mr. and Mrs. Britt were presented with a beauti ful blanket by members of the . First Baptist church, the East Side Mission, and the Worn en's Missionary society. They also received many other gifts.
