Eleanor Collier Bride Of A Klamath Girl Marries in Ceremony at Presidio in San Francisco to Captain Frederick Ehlers With all the romantic excitement and glamor of a mili tary wedding, Eleanor Collier, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred D. Collier of Klamath Falls, and Captain Tredorick Ehlon, of Redmond, Oregon, were married In a ceremony read at the post chapel at the Presidio In Ban Francisco on the afternoon of Juno the twenty-sixth. The ceremony was read at four o'clock, Tho brldo'a only attendant, was her youngar sister, Dorothy, who was Junior maid o( honor. Lieutenant John P, Tipper was best mun and ushers were Captain Charles D. Y. Ostrum and Lieutenant Ned O. Klrkham. 1110 bride, given In mar riage by her father, was love ly In a long-sleeved white princess gown fashioned of marquisette over satin. Her fingertip veil of Illusion net was fastened to a Juliet cap. She carried a shower bouquet of three white orchids sur rounded by small white but terfly orchids. Miss Dorothy Collier wore a blue marquisette gown and carried on old-fashioned nose gny of gardenias. The Presidio chapel was entirely decked in white. Tall, white tapers were flank ed by whlto snapdragons and stocks banked against the al tar and garlands of white stock were fastened to the ends of the pews. Mrs. Alfred D. Collier, mother of tho bride, wore an afternoon gown of powder bluo and black complimented by an orchid and a small flower trimmed hat. Immediately after the wed ding a reception was held at the new home of the couple at 1338 Filbert streot in San Francisco. Recoiving guests were Mr. and Mrs. fchiers and Mrs. Alfred Collier. Mrs. Guy Page, sister of the groom, assisted In cutting tho cake and Miss Georgia Vail pre sided at the punch bowl. As sisting were Mrs. C. E. Har rington, Miss Peggy Groves, Mrs. Guy Page and Mrs. John Almark. Guests at the wedding and reception were members of the Immediate famillea and members of the headquarters staff of the Western Defense Command and Fourth Army, and their wives. For going away, the bride wore a gray tailleur with gray hat, white gloves and black accessories. Mrs. Ehlers Is graduate of the University of Oregon where she was affiliated with PI Beta Phi. Later she at tended graduate school at Stanford university. Captain Ehlers Is gradu ate of the University of Ore gon where he was a member of Sigma Nu. He is at present bomb disposal officer of the Western Defense Command and Fourth Army stationed at the Presidio In San Fran cisco. Out-of-town guests for the wedding were Dr. Dorothy Collier of Eugene, Mrs. Den ton Anderson, New Haven, Connecticut; Dr. and Mrs John Almack, Stanford uni versity; Mr. and Mrs. Guy Pago and Grant Page ol Grants Pass; Mr. and Mrs. George Ehlers, Marcola, and Mrs. C. E. Harrington of Mo desto. SEW AND STUDY. CLUB MEETS ON JULY I The Sew and Study club met with Mrs. L. M. Haines, 1114 Crescent avenue, Thurs day, July the first, for dessert luncheon at one o'clock. Brown and Mrs, Murlon Barnes uc't Intf as co-hostesses with Mrs. Gcbhardt. This shower was attended by members of the Lost River grange of which Mr. and Mrs. Barton aro both members. Mrs. Barton was the recipient of many lovely gifts. The young couple are making their home In the. Henley dis trict for the present. Lleutenunt-Colonel and Mrs. Boyd Yadon are guests this weekend at the homo of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Hancock of 701 Pacific Ter race. The news was told at an announcement breakfast in the bay city last month. She is formerly of this city. Romalne Miss Loosley Marries Ft. Klamath Girl Weds In Portland at St. Stephens Church Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Loosley of Fort Klamath have an nounced the marriage of their daughter, Frances Dorothy, to Mr. Alan Gilbert Horton, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Horton of Mcdford, at an early morning mass at St. Stephens church in Portland on June the sixteenth the Reverend A. J. Carmody. The bride, given In mar riage by her father, was lovo ly In a gown of white satin and Illusion net, and she car ried a bouquet of whlto roses, larkspur, and bouvardia. Her fingertip veil fell from a coro net of seed pearls, Miss Carol Jane Loosley was her sister's only atten dant. She wore a dross of rose chiffon, with a matching Mary Stuurt cup. She carried a bouquet of blue and pink larkspur and swectpeas. Ted G. Schopff was best man. Miss Patricia Ncubcckcr of Seattle, was soloist for the wedding ceremony and Miss Eria Strobcr of Lcwlston play ed the organ. Following the ceremony, a wedding breakfast was held at tho Roosevelt hotel In Port land. Both Mr. and Mrs. Horton are graduates of Chiloquln high school. Mrs. Horton later attended Marylhurst college in Portland and Mr. Horton was a student at Santa Clara university. Mr. Horton who Is now In the army air corps, is station ed Irv Bakcrsfield, California, where Mrs. Horton plans to join him. Members of Sojourners will meet next Wednesdoy ofler noon at a quarter to two o'clock in the Wiltard hotel. This week another attrac tive Klamath Falls girl's name was added to the growing lis of brides-to-be when Mr. and Mrs. Carl Michelson of 1936 Fre mont street, announced the engagement of their daughter, Suzanne, to Robert H. Stewart of Minden, Nevada. The news Is of wide interest to the younger college set and especially to Oregon State people who are home for the summer. Miss Michelson was graduated a year ago from Klam- ath Union high school and at Engagement Announced Alice Mae CornfortK of San Francisco Will . Wed in Early August The engagement of Miss Alice Mae Cornforth of this ' city, was announced at a breakfast in the Hotel Calif ornian in San Francisco on June the twentieth. She will wed Mr. Berwyn Raymond Maxwell, chief petty officer of the United States naval re serve in a ceremony to be read in early August. The bride-elect has made her home in San Francisco for several years where she was a bookkeeper, prior to accept ing a position with the navy on Treasure Island. Before being called to act ive duty, Mr. Maxwell was employed in the office of the NewKall Land and Farming company in Fillmore, Califor nia. Among the guests present at the announcement breakfast were Mrs. Dolores Martin Marx, Mrs. Kay Kalcr, Miss Audrey Edwards, Miss Jean Hunger, and Miss Martha Robinson of Klamath Falls. ; Friends were greeting Cap tain and Mrs. Embert Fossum and daughter, Janet Martha, who are here for a time from Colorado. Captain Fossum has been stationed at the mountain infantry post at Camp Hale, Pando, Colorado, and will return there after a ten-day leave. Mrs. Fossum and Janet Martha have been in Denver, but plan to remain here for a time. They are guests of Mrs. John Fossum.. !' 1 4 'A I fit - n I tended Oregon State college one year. She is a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She is spending the summer here with her parents. Mr. Stewart is the son of Mrs. Grover X. Krick of Min den, Nevada, and is awaiting his call into the United States army. He was graduated from Oregon State college with the class of 1943, and was active in campus affairs. Mr. Stewart is a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He visited here briefly en route from Corvallis to his home in Minden this week. , As is the case with many a romance in these days when young men are called into the service, no definite date has been set for the wedding. GALLAGHERS CELEBRATE SILVER WEDDING ' Mr. and Mrs. John Hugh Gallagher celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding anniver sary on Friday, July the ninth, when a few intimate friends were invited in for an open house at the Gallagher home. A large wedding cake and a 1 white floral centerpiece cen tered the table. Mr. and Mrs. Gallagher have lived In Klamath Falls for the past fifteen years where Mr. Gallagher has been in business. They were mar ried in the Holy Rosary church in Portland. Mr. , and Mrs. Mitchell Til .lotson and the letter's sister, Mrs. Vera Stephenson of Or land, California, left Saturday for Lake o' the Woods where they will spend a fortnight's holiday, occupying the Rose Poole cabin on the east side ' of the lake. Bob Leonards Visit -Klamath Friends Former Klamath Residents Are Here After Wed f ding in Reno, Nevada, on June 30 Visiting here this weekend are Staff Sergeant and Mrs. Robert Owen Leonard, who were married Wednesday, June the thirtieth, at seven o'clock in the evening in Reno, Nevada. The bride is the former Patricia Wethered, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Wethered of 1232 East Twentieth street, Eugene. The new Mrs. Leonard chose a melon wool suit with faint plaid marking for her wedding costume and had matching accessories and a shoulder corsage. Both are well known here among the younger set. Mrs. Leonard was with the Klam- Mrs. Ray Honored Miscellaneous Shower Given for Bride of Mid-June A miscellaneous shower and one o'clock luncheon was giv en at the Charlie Reed home on the Merrill road in honor of Mrs. Lawrence Ray, the former Mary Alice Serruys, on Wednesday, June the thirtieth. Mrs. Ray is in San Diego with her husband who is with the marines so her gifts were sent to her. During the after noon guests embroidered their names on tea towels to send to the bride. . The rooms were decorated with a profusion of . spring flowers and they also center ed the table. Mrs". Read was assisted with the serving by Mrs. Charles Drew, Jr., and Mrs. Guy Barton. It is doubt ful if any meetings will be held this month due to the bond drive in which the BPW is in charge jointly with the Soroptimists, necessit a 1 1 n g numerous committee meetings. THE ENGAGEMENT of Miss Suzanne Michelson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Michelson of this city, was announced this past week. She will wed Robert H. Stewart of Minden, Nevada, but as yet no definite day has been set for the wedding. Poth young people were students this last year at Oregon State college. They will leave Sunday evening for Sacra mento where they will have a brief visit with Captain and Mrs. William H. Cummings, also former Klamath folks. They were guests at the Cum mings home on their way from Reno to Klamath Falls last week. Mrs. Cummings will be remembered as the former Eleanor Weimar. Mr. Leonard was a member . of the editorial staff of The Herald and News prior to go - ing into the armed forces. He . has been stationed with a mountain infantry division at Camp Hale, Pando, Colorado. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Leonard of Chicago. LUNCHEON GIVEN ON BIRTHDAYS : AT M'NEE HOME ' Honoring Mrs. Christine Metcalf and Miss Bobbie Ash Tbr on their birthdays, Mrs. ' W. D. McNee was hostess at a delightful noon luncheon on Wednesday at her home, 1923 Auburn street.
