OREGON Miss Serruys Weds Wednesday Klamath Young People Married Before Altar of Episcopal Church; Reception Held Later The altar of St. Paul's Episcopal church was decorated with white snapdragons for the four o'clock wedding last Wed nesday afternoon of Mary Alice Serruys, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Serruys, and Private Lawrence Edward Ray of the United States Marine corps, son of Mrs. J. Frank Adams of Merrill. Many lighted candles wero burning and tall baskets of white snapdragons and gladioli were placed at either side of the steps leading to the altar. The Rev. Frederick C. Wissen bach read the service. Just before the ceremony Mrs. Van Evans played soft organ music and the wed- ding party entered the church to the traditional strains of Lohengrin's march. Mr. Ser ruys gave his daughter in marriage. She wore a lovely gown of white shadow lace, fashioned with a high neck line, long bodice, sleeves puff ed at the shoulder and snug fitting to the wrist, with a full skirt of white marquisette which ended in a long train. Her veil, of white net, was caught at either side of the head by clusters of carnation hearts, and she carried a for mal arrangement of white carnations. Mrs. Allan Priest, sister of the groom, was matron of honor. She wore peach mar quisette of Victorian design, the deep square yoke and torso length bodice edged in niching and she carried sun glow roses. The bridesmaids, Mrs. John Thomas Ray, sister-in-law of the groom, and Miss Joanne Siemens, wore identical frocks of acqua blue organdie with long bodice lines, full, floor length skirts trimmed with bands of match ing material. Their flowers were formal bouquets of sal mon pink carnations. All three attendants wore head dresses of velvet ribbon and veiling. The groom wore the full dress uniform of the Marine corps. Mr. William King came from Portland to attend the groom and ushers were Mr. Richard Hibbe and Mr. Sam Ritchey. Immediately after the young couple left the church a reception was held -in tha Pelican party room. The bride's table held the lovely white and silver wedding cake and a silver coffee serv ice. The bride and groom cut their cake which was later served by an aunt of the bride, Mrs. Louis E. Serruys, and Mrs. Charlie Read. Pour ing were Mrs. Clyde Baker, Mrs. Marshall E. Cornett and Mrs, ;Franklin L. Weaver. At the! punch bowl were four young friends of the bride, Miss Frances Lee McMullen, Miss Nancy Adams, Miss Bar bara Moore and Miss Peggy Keating, and assisting about the room were Mrs. Brady Narey, Mrs. Leslie Rogers. Mrs. . Robert Burleigh, Mrs. Avis ; McConncll and Mrs. Lucile Warner. The wedding party received at one end of the room before a delightful arrangement of colorful columbine and iris. ' Also greeting guests were mothers of the two. Mrs. Ser ruys wore a black floor length costume suit with a small black hat and corsage of white gardenias and Mrs. Adams wore a long print frock with a black cartwheel hat and gardenia corsage. Mrs. Clara Shaw, grandmother of the groom, wore an afternoon frock of print blouse, long black skirt with a small pink hat and a shoulder cluster of pink roses. Pvt. and Mrs. Ray left for brief honeymoon in the Rogue River valley. For traveling, Mrs. Ray chose a soft green costume suit with a small brown hat and trim med with dusty pink flowers. Her corsage was a single pur ple orchid. They are expected home this weekend and Mr. and Mrs. Serruys will enter tain with a family dinner Sunday evening at their ranch home on the Merrill high way. Mrs. Ray is a graduate of St. Helen's hall, Portland. Pvt. Ray attended schools in this city and for the past one and one-half years has been in the service. Betrothal Told By Washington Parents Mildred Jones to Become Bride of Dr. John Davenport Merryman in Early August The month of June always brings romantic news, and an nouncement was made this week by Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Jones of Sprague, near Spokane. Washington, of the betrothal and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Mildred, to Dr. John Davenport Merryman, son of Dr. and Mrs. George Harris Mer ryman Sr., of 1131 Pacific Terrace, Klamath Falls. The wedding will take place about August the seventh in Madison, Wisconsin, where Dr. Merryman is completing his interneship at Wisconsin State General hospital. The young couple will reside in Madison until Dr. Merryman receives orders from the government to report for duty with the armed forces. Miss Jones, who has made her home in Portland for the past year, is a graduate of the .University of Washington at Seattle. She is expected here early in July for a brief visit at the Merryman home and a weekend stay at their Lake o' the Woods cabin. When Miss Jones leaves for the east she will be accom panied by Dr. and Mrs. Merry man. Also expected to attend the wedding is Dr. Merryman' sister, Mrs. Herbert G. Moul ton of New Vork City. Dr. Merryman attended the Klamath Falls schools, was graduated from Pomona col lege at Claremont, California, and the University of Oregon school of medicine at Port land. .He left in March for Madison to complete his work. King Jr. with Mrs. King and their young son, William the third, left Wednesday for Camp Adair, after spending the past ten days here as guests of Mr. King's brother-in-law and sis ter, Mr. and Mrs. John Cop page of Lowell street. The Business and Profes sional Women's club will meet at the home of Isabella Brix ner for a potluck supper on Monday, June the twenty-. first, at Half past six o'clock. 1 Venture Club Gives Tea Saturday Afte r n o o n Garden Party and Tea Given at Pool Home An event of last Saturday, June the twelfth, was a silver tea and garden party given by the girls of the Venture club. The tea and party were held on the lawn of the Rose Poole home on Conger ave nue. Tea was served, from half past two o'clock to half past five. Tables around the lawn were beautifully decorated with gay spring flowers. Pouring during the after noon were Mis Beverly Sie mens, Mrs. Catherine John son, Miss Jean Wiesendanger, Miss Virginia Ellen Smith, and Mrs. R. D. Shaw. NIECE OF KLAMATH WOMAN WEDS IN PORTLAND A wedding of interest to Klamath folk was that of Mar ian Wood, daughter of Mr. Berwick Wood and Mrs. Alice H. Wood of Portland, who was married to Ensign J. Pierre Kolisch, USNR, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kolisch of New York, on June the fifth, in the chapel of Trinity Episcopal church. The bride Is the niece of Mrs. Eward A. Geary of Lake shore drive and has visited here frequently at the Geary home. Miss Alice Geary was the little flower girl for her cousin, and wore a frock of ' pale pink tulle. Mrs. Geary presided at the tea table at the reception given at the Town club in Portland following the reception. COUPLE WED IN CEREMONY AT BROWN HOME Miss Nena May Ohles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ohles of Klamath , Falls, and Walter W. Sohra kofs were married in a cere mony read at the home of the Reverend Cecil C. Brown of the First Baptist church on Wednesday, June the six teenth, at a five o'clock cere mony. Mrs. M. W. Sohrakofs wai m the bride's only attendent and Mr. M. W. Sohrakofs was the best man. The bride wore a gray cos tume suit with blue acces sories with a corsage of gar denias and rosebuds. Her at tendant wore a powder blue suit with matching accessories and a corsage of red rosebuds. A reception was held later at the home of the bride's parents. Those who attended the wedding ceremony were Mrs. Charles Ohles, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lien, Mrs. Donald Parks, and Mrs. Irwin Morris.
