9 THE MILL CITY ENTERPRISE ON THE SCENIC NORTH SANTIAM HIGHWAY — GATEWAY TO THE HEART OF NATURE’S EMPIRE VOLI'ME XI NUMBER 5’ McCully Mt. Area Improved This Past Year By Eva Bressler LYONS—Recent improvements on McCullly Mountain located near Lyons were realized by folks living in that particular area, bringing their standard of living equal to that of their city cousins. A few years ago electricity was brought to McCullly Mountain by Benton-Lincoln Cooperative after much intensive work by a few public spirited citizens of this and the Jordan area. Three years ago a new road was completed from Weasel Flat School to the Mountain with farmers of this area assuming the responsibility of building by cash donations of the local people together with a lot of hard work with able assistance of the road supervisor, John Jungwirth. During the last year, intensive in terest and hard work was shouldered by Virgil Rogers of this community in obtaining a mail route for this area. After so many discouraging attempts and refusals by the U. S. Post Office department, the matter was taken to Washington, D. C. and with the help of Senator Wayne Morse, the project was approved within a short time the folks in this area are now enjoying the privilege of daily mail service. MILI CITY.
