The Atlantic express train going east on the New York Central <1 lie at St. Johnsville, N. Y. at midnight, was wrecked by a land slide at Fly Creek, several miles west of there. The train was fifteen minutes late and running at a high rate of speed when it dashed into tlie debris. The track on the south side is close to the river, and when the train struck the mass of earth, the engine and tender left the track and rolled over into tlie river. Engineer Edward Kenner of Albany, was killed, and Eugene Wylie, fireman, was badlv scalded and had a leg broken. The train consisted of nine coaches, and all but one left the track. The passengers wore badly shaken up and some of them slightly injured. The express ear did not leave the track but the next two care were thrown from the track into tlie river, and the fourth car was thrown on its side down an embankment. The engineer ami fireman went down with the engine. Tlie engineer whb penned fast in the wreck and was badly scalded. He was conscious fora few minutes only and directed that train No. 3, of the St. Louis express from the east be flagged to prevent fuither accidens. This was done, and what might have been a greater calamity was averted. Kenner died in half an hour with his wife's name on his lips. REV. E. .1. WHITNEY, of Clarkson. N.
