FO U R T H E B O N N E V I L L E CASCADE LOCKS (By Anna M. Haggblom) Birthday Party Miss Ruth Buche was happily sur prised for her birthday Sunday night by her fellow teachers at the lodge. The room was gayly decorated in festive colors. A lunch of dainty sandwiches, coffee, ice cream and wafers was served in front of the fireplace. Monday night Mrs. Warren David son served a delicious chicken din ner in honor of Miss Buche’s birth day. Miss Edna Merritt from Bonne ville was a guest. A pretty hand decorated cake was brought in with 16 candles. ♦ club. After the meeting the after noon was spent in wrapping Christ mas gifts for the home in Portland. Ivan Embree, Mrs. Harriett Waite, Mrs. George Haggblom, Joyce Cole, Sonny Morris, and the hostesses, Mrs. Charles Haggblom and Mrs. Karl Rosenback. ♦ Candy Party Miss Audrey Banks was hostess to a party at her home Saturday night. The diversion of the evening was playing games and making ta ffy and fudge candy. Delicious refreshments of cake and cocoa were served by the hostess. Those enjoying the evening were Shirley Woodward, Eileen Prohaska, Genevieve Wood ward, Donna Davidson, Bill Murray, Henry Brink, Clay W eaver and Law rence Brink and the hostess. Cascadia Re bekah Club Cascadia Rebekah Club held its regular meeting Wednesday with Mrs. Charles Haggblom and Mrs. Karl Rosenback as hostess. A delic ious lunch was served at 12:30 con sisting of potato salad, hot rolls, ol ives, baked ham and all the trim mings and cake and coffee. A sur prise birthday shower was given in honor of Mrs. George Haggblom’s birthday during the luncheon hour. Many useful gifts were received. A f ter lunch a short business meeting was held. It was decided the club would have a Christmas tree and grab bag at its next regular meeting ♦ o f December 22. Mrs. C. E. It was borrowed Saturday night while the V. L. Garner family were shopping at the store. Lee Bautelle, carpenter foreman of the bridge, visited his family in Ken newick, Wash., over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Miller enjoyed their visit Saturday evening with Thomas Allen Keeler. Farewell Party Mrs. Margaret Calandine was hos tess to a farewell party for Mr. and Mrs. Smock. Those enjoying the oc casion were Mr. and Mrs. Smock, Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Rankin and the hostess. ♦ Cobb Suffers Heart Attack G. A. Cobb of Oakland, Ore., a former resident of Cascade Locks, was stricken w-ith a heart attack while interviewing his lawyer in Portland and was rushed to his apartment in Portland. His wife and son were called to his bedside. Frank Chapin of Portland was a Cascade Locks visitor the first of the week. Miss Zulima Munkres left Sunday on the bus for her home in Bend, Ore., after spending some time with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Munkres. Frank Waite of Portland was transacting business in Cascade Locks over the week-end. Ed Haskins, employee of the state highway, spent the week-end with his wife in Portland. Mr. Jarvis and Mr. Wilson, real estate men of Seattle, Wash., were transacting business in Cascade Locks Monday. Mr. and Mrs. La Vern Rankin and Herman Cook of Stevenson were guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Rankin Sunday. Mrs. George Endicott of Portland visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Brolliar Monday, on her way to Hood River. Misses Ethel McRae, Martha W et zel, Ruth Buche, Marie Jeffries and Lillian McLeod were shopping and visiting in Portland Saturday. Leslie Allen of the Miller Apart ments left Sunday for Portland. Leslie has completed his work on the Bonneville Dam. Miss Audrey Titus of Bonneville, former resident of Cascade Locks, was a caller in the Locks Saturday. Mrs. Genevieve Woodward spent Thursday in Portland. Mrs. George Miller returned to her home in Cascade Locks after spend ing two weeks in Hillsboro, visiting her mother. We are glad Mrs. Mill er’s mother is much improved over what she was a few months ago.
