Hatch, of Portland, reported progress on the high school building and Engineer C. M. Hurlburt reported progress on the grading of the athletic field. Mr. Hatch also pre sented specifications for lockers, stage equipment, auditorium seats and elec tric light fixtures. Bids were called on the lockers for Monday night, Febru ary 21, and on the auditorium and stage equipment on February 28. 8upt. A. M. Cannon presented the specifications for the science depart ment consisting of three students’ chemistry tables, accommodating three classes with a total of 72 pupils and for two science instructors’ desks for the two lecpire rooms. Bids on this equipment, were called for Monday night, February 21. The chairman re ported that the city had practically completed obtaining the right of way for widening May street and the spe cial board committee was directed to meet with the city council and county court to the end that May street would be graded and the water main laid to the building. In the absence of a city sewer dis trict, the board directed the architect to bring in plans for septic tanka to take care of the high school sewage. Chairman K. W. Sinclair reported an interview with the underwriters’ bu reau for the Insurance for the new building and proposed an additional line of water pipe outside the building. The board granted the request of the county nurse, Miss Weaver, to bold a goitre clinic at the high school and junior high Tuesday morning, Febru ary 15, with the understanding that the affair must be Voluntary on the part of the pupils, with the consent of their parents. A motion, unanimously carried, put the entire teaching force under the protection of the state Industrial Acci dent Commission and all the expenses incidental thereto will be defrayed. The teachers now come under the Workmen's Compensation Aft. K. W. Sinclair resigned his position as chairman of the board in favor of A. 8. Keir. This is a customary pro cedure when two members have equal seniority.
