Organized Sunday School Class 'Ihe Sunday school class of Rev. N. Evans met at the home of Miss Nellie Homer Friday evening and organized by electing officers, ibe president of the class is Miss M;iud Pattee, secre tary, Miss Ionia MoGrath aud tress urer, Albert Lathrop. After the class meeting a pleasant social time was bad and refreshments were served.. Hood River Fruit Land Too Low H. 11. Crofts, who recently arrived here from Grand Junction, Colo., has bought Fred Larwood 's lesldence and two lots on tbe bill. Mr. Crofts states that tbe value'of fruit land at Hood River is entirely too low and says he expects to see it double in a comparatively short time. Fiuit land at Grand Junction he saya ban sold for as high as f i.OOOuu acre and he thinks that land here is much more valuable. Mr. Crofts also says that he knows ot a number ot fruit raisers at Grand Junction who are going to sell out aud invest in Hood River property. Eugene's Big Advertising Fund Eugene surprised tbe people of this entire country last year by raising a great advertising fund and paying a salary of 5,0UO annually for an ex pert. Up to last Satuiday night tbere bad been subscribed for the coming year, glll.GCL, to which will he added $1400, the total being more than a dollar and a half tor every man, wo man and child in tbe city, aud tbis will be used in advertising tbe re sources and advantage of Eugene and Lane County.
