MEDFORD MAIL TRIBUNE, MEDFORD, OREGOiN Exhibit To End The Rogue Valley Art Associ ation reminds residents that this is the last week to see the ex hibit of sculpture and paintings by Melvin Schuler. The show will continue through December 12 at the Rogue Gal lery, 220 West Main Street. The exhibit has attracted wide interest during the three weeks it has been on display, associa tion officials noted. The 17 oils and 24 pieces of sculpture were completed during sabbatical leave from Humboldt State Col lege where Mr. Schuler is a pro fessor of art. The large and vibrant paint ings are mainly abstractions of P"ometric or natural forms. Five have a figure or group of figures done in rich and subtle color against a brilliant white background. The sculpture is for the most part done in wood walnut, olive, rosewood and acacia. The show will be on display at the Oregon Ceramic Studio in Portland in February. Weavers Have Demonstration ASHLAND The Rogue Val ley Handweavers Guild met recently at the home of Miss Ruth Bebber, 361 Guthrie Street, to see a demonstration by Robin Groff of McMinnville. Mr. Groff, formerly of Santa Barbara, Calif., is editor of the magazine "Warp and Weft." He showed samples of hand weaving, including yardage, cur tains, place mats, bags and skirts, and also exhibited weav ing supplies and instruction books. Miss Irma Klinghammer pre sided over the meeting and the hostess was assisted by Mrs. Walter Arron when refresh ments were served. The bride is the former Miss Diana Mae Savage, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Wallace Savage, lSl Coolidge Street, Ashland. The bridegroom, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Lewis Casner, Project City, Calif., is an air man second class serving at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana. The wedding rites were read November 16 by Bishop William H. Davis of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Davis home at 1040 Clay Street, Ashland. E. Strecter, Ashiand, was installed president of the South ern Oregon Photographic As sociation during a banquet meeting of the group Decem ber 2 in Kim's Restaurant. Edward J. Klimko, retiring president, presented a gavel to the newly installed officer. In return Mr. Strceter gave Mr. Klimko a plaque depicting a gavel honoring his presidency. Miss June Hoefft, secretary; Lawrence Juttner, treasurer and Howard Lind, vice presi dent, were installed by Mayn- ard Legacy. Mrs. Howard Lind. Mrs. Strceter. He told of his (irst hobby which started with a 1901 Edison phonograph. Later he acquired an ABC Pro cess photography kit and began a hobby of photography which has continued for 18 years and has now been made his pro fession. I Miss June Hoefft received: both the color slide and black and white trophies for 1963. The winter exhibition theme for the group is "Outside at Night." The color pictures will be ex hibited and judged at the Feb ruary meeting and the black and white prints will be exhibit ed at the March meeting. The local members will be host group for the Southern Oregon Photographic Associa tion Wednesday, December 18 at 8 p.m., in Rogue Gallery, 220 West Main Street, Medford, when a reception and preview of a photographic salon print exhibition will be held. The ex hibit will go on public view December 19 and continue through January 3.
