OREGON Talent Junior High PTA Unit To Be Organized TALENT An organizational meeting for the purpose of form ins a Talent Junior High School Parent Teacher Association has been announced for Thursday, November 21 at 8 p.m., in the Junior High School combination room. Ernest R. James, District 4 superintendent made the an nouncement. This meeting will mark the first time a separate building PTA has been established in the Phoenix district. Until this time, PTA has been on the dis trict level with one unit serv ing all school and all children in grades one through 12. The organizational committee headed by Mrs. Sam James has expressed the opinion that a separate unit will serve the stu dents at this level more effec tively and will be of greater Interest and concern to parents and teachers. The committee's central idea is that the students' best inter ests demand a close working relationship between the two major influences in the student's life, his homo and his school, This relationship can be strengthened through a parent- teacher organization at the school level, they concluded. Parents of all children in the school who want to Join this new unit are invited to attend the organizational meeting. The committee has prepared a list of proposed bylaws which will be distributed and discussed. After the discussion the group will recess for refreshments and membership enrollment which will be followed by election of officers. 4 Holiday Dinner Set on Fr'day GOLD HILL - A holiday pot luck dinner which will observe both Thanksgiving and Christ mas will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, November 22 at Con cord Spiritualist Chapel for members and invited guests only. The Rev. Elvina Colburn, pas tor, has announced a full eve ning of entertainment, including an auction for adults and grab bag for the children; a candid camera and play back record ings, as well as a hat trimming contest for the men. Anniversary Celebrated ASHLAND Members of the Ashland Community Hospital Auxiliary recently celebrated the hospital's second anniver sary at an informal tea given in the Brainard room. Guests included P. M. Huntley, super intendent, hospital personnel and several persons interested in taking an active part in the work. Mrs. Clarence Litwiller, Mrs. Harry Skerry Jr., Mrs. Delbert Jones and Mrs. Huntley poured, The tea table, covered with a green lace cloth, was centered with tall yellow tapers and yellow chryanthemums arrang ed by Mrs. C. D. Fortmlller and Mrs. Robert VanVleet. Articles made by auxiliary members and tray favors made by various organizations were on display. Mrs. Parker Hess is president of the hospital auxiliary. 1 To Elect Officers Golden Link Class of First Baptist Church will elect offi cers at their Thursday, Novem ber 21 meeting in the home of Mrs. C. Carter were wed November 9 in 7 o'clock evening rites in St. Mark's Episcopal Church. The Rev. George R. V. Bolster per- f- -led the ceremony in the presence of about 20 guests, all members of the couple s fami lies. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold A. Travis, 1246 Second Avenue. Gold Hill. The bridegroom is a son of Mrs. Dale Ensminger, Oakridge, Ore., who with Mr. Ensminger came south for the ceremony. Mrs. Marvin Jacobsen, fcusan- ville, Calif., attended her sis ter and Patrick McCoy served as best man. The bride, given in marriage bv her father, wore a cham pagne colored brocade suit with pale pink orcnm corsage, tier sister was dressed in a pink suit and her corsage was oi pinic carnations. Pale vcllow and white chry santhemums decorated the church. The reception, given by the bride's parents, was held in the church guild hall. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Travis wore a rose lace dress and the bridegroom's mother chose blue lace for her frock. Both had corsages of pink roses. The couple made their wed ding trip to the coast. The bride is office manager for Mercy Flights, Inc., and the bridegroom is a language teach er at Hedrick Junior High School. They are living at 1084 West McAndrews Road. A recent rummage sale held by the chapter was termed suc cessful by Mrs. Ostmo, and she announced that another sale is being planned to be held in Medford. The chapter recently held a coffee for muscular dystrophy the sorority. For this project restaurant proprietors are ask ed to donate their coffee pro ceeds one morning in Novem ber between 9 and 10:30 a.m. During the recent meeting the educational program was given by Mrs. Mast and Mrs. Keith Krambeal on "Modes of Travel, Then and Now." The meeting was at the home of Mrs. Bates, South B Street, with Mrs. Cham berlain presiding. Two candidates were initiated into the Bethel at their recent meeting held at the temple. They were the Misses Michele Kennedy and Sharon Hanke. Barbara Jacobson, Sue Kaer, Marsha Svensen and Sara Myers gave reports on Friend ship night visitations to other bethels. Penny Roach reported on the Queen's Ball which was held October 19. A hay ride and attendance at a drive-in movie was planned tor November 16. The queen, Ada Harris an nounced December 8 as Go-To-Church Sunday and requested an Detnel members to meet at the First Presbyterian Church at 10:45 a.m. Presentation of awards were made by Miss Harris to Marilyn Couch, Margaret Fleet. Sue Griffin, Penney Hatzi and Katliy uiass, loo point pins; Sue Kaer, Mary Knox and Judy Chastain. 200 point pins; Gail Johnson, Theresa Patton and Karen Sven sen, 300 point pins; Gail John son, Penny Roach and Karen Svensen, 500 point pins. Jobie rings representing 1000 points were presented to Karen bvensen and Barbara Jacob- son. The initiates introduced their parents and relatives and Jobie pins were presented to Michele Kennedy by her father and to Sharon Hanke by her mother. Refreshments were served in the dining room by Judy and Jody Simmons, Miss Hatzi and Miss Roach assisted by their mothers. Flea Market Set By Group ASHLAND The second an nual Flea Market of Gamma Zcta Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi, will be Saturday, December 7, at the Ashland Armory. The project assists in support ing the Ashland YMCA. Different organizations and individuals may rent tables at the event for selling gifts, foods, candy, art, antiques, Christmas greenery and other small at tides. The Flea Market will be from 9:30 a.m. to 0:30 p.m. Benefit Club Thanksgiving Dinner Slated 1 Security Benefit Club mem bers made plans for a Thanks giving dinner to be served No vember 27 when they met last jweek in the Pythian Building.
