Ashland Woman To Be Honored ASHUND Mra. Mildred Klum, 94 Granite Street, is to be guest of honor November 22 at the annual Homecoming of the University of Hawaii. The invitation for the island trip was extended in grateful appre ciation to "Proc" (Otto) Klum's widow m recognition of the out standing contribution the ath letic director-coach made dur ing the 20's and 30's. The uni versity gymnasium was dedicat ed to him a few years ago. 'Mrs. Klum will fly to Hawaii by jet November 20 and will remain for two weeks visiting friends whom she knew while she and her husband were con nected with the university. McColIum (Anders photo) Newly weds Now Home Af ter California Trip Mr. and Mrs. Gerald D. Mc ColIum have returned from their wedding trip to San Francisco and are living at 392 O'Gara Street. The bride is the former Miss Farbara Morton, daughter of Mrs. Lorraine E. Smith, 701 Dakota Street, and the late Ar nold L. Morton. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. McColIum, 764 West McAndrews Road. The ceremony was performed in Medford Friends Church No vember 1 at 8 o'clock in the evening by the Rev. Bernard Andrews of First Baptist Church. Allen L. Morton, Sacramento, Calif., gave his sister in mar riage. The bride's satin gown was designed with lace trimmed bodice, and appliques of lace trimmed the skirt which formed a chapel train. Phone 772-8992 was the honor atendant. Brides maids were the Misses Betsy Beck and Deanna Cullop. Mrs. Calvin Rhodes, Central Point, was bridesmatron. The attendants' gowns were of crystaline in orange, gold and green and they carried bronze pompon chrysanthemums with ivy. David McCullum was best man for his brother and ushers were Lee Sanderson, Kenneth Mouiton, Koseburg; and Joe Frazier, Phoenix, a brother-in-law of the bridegroom. Baskets of bronze and gold pompon chrysanthemums decor ated the church and pews were marked with' orange bows. Clarence L. Smith sang the wedding songs. The wedding, and 'reception. given by the bride's mother, was attended by some 100 guests. Mrs. L. A. Wilcox Jr. assisted Mrs. Smith. The reception table was dec orated with white chrysanthe mums and candelabra. Punch was served by Mrs. George Chambers and .coffee was poured by Miss Glenda Glenn. Mrs. Larry Schleigh served the wedding cake, as sisted by Mrs. Walter Olson. Mrs. Lee Sanderson registered the guests and Mrs, Sam Soren son was at the gift table. The bride's mother wore a tur quoise knit suit with brown ac cessories and white orchid cor sage. The bridegroom's mother was dressed in a fur trimmed blue suit and black accessories. Her corsage was a pink orchid. For traveling the bride wore a white suit with red accessor ies. Both the bride and bridegroom attended Medford High School. The bride is a beautician em ployed at Fashion Flair Beauty Salon. The bridegroom is with the Schleigh Brothers Wrecking Company. Two Teds Planned In Portland PORTLAND Two teas for wives of chief state school of f rs will highi:jit the coming social week in Portland. Mrs. Leon P. Minear, wife of Oregon's superintendent of pub lic instruction, will preside at a tea in the Long Hut of the Kon Tiki Room of the Sheraton. Mo tor Inn on Monday, November 18. The event will honor the wives of the stale superintend ents of public instruction and commissioners of education dur ing the annual national meting of the Council of Chief State School Officers in Portland. Wives of the members of Oregon's Board of Education will assist Mrs. Minear. They include Mrs. Ronald Jones Brooks; Mrs. Francis Smith, Portland; Mrs. Thomas Scan Ion, Portland. Mrs. Harry Scott, Salem, and Mrs.- Eugene Fish er, Oakland. Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Smith will pour. About sixty-five guests have been invited. Wednesday, November 20 Mrs. Mark O. Hatfield and Mrs. Minear will be co-hostesses at a tea for approximately 150 guests who have been in vited to meet the wives of the Chief State School Officers in the "ivernor's Suite of the Hil ton Hotel. MEDFORD Episcopal Rites Held For Couple CENTRAL POINT The mar riage of Miss Cherron Louise Hopkins and Donald Ross Burd, an event of November 15, has been announced by the bride's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis L. Hopkins, 3775 Old Military Road, Central Point. with whom the bride has been making her home. She is a daughter of Lt. Col. and Mrs. Curtis E. Hopkins, Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota. " The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Burd, 1014 East Pine Street, Central Point. The double ring rites were read by the Rev. George R. V. Bolster at 6 o'clock in the eve ning in St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Mr. Hopkins gave his grand daughter in marriage. . The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond F. Britt of that city. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Martin R. Chris tensen, 125 Clover Lane, Med ford, who traveled to the coast for the. ceremony. Elder Paul A. Gordon offici ated for the 2 o'clock afternoon rites read in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Given in marriage by her grandfather, James Fesler, St. Helens, Ore., the bride wore a gown of lace over taffeta and her veil was shoulder length. She carried white carnations with garnet roses. Miss Donna Bennett, Coos Bay, a roommate of the bride at Milo Academy, was the honor attendant. Miss Patricia Adams, Paradise, Calif., a schoolmate, and Miss Janet Britt, a sister, were bridesmaids. Terl Britt, a niece was flower girl, and Bible boy was Kirk Fleetwood, a nephew. The attendants wore gowns of red taffeta. The honor attendant carried a bouquet of white car nations and the bridesmaids' flowers were of variegated car nations. Jerry McCammon, Oregon Stale University, a schoolmate of the bridegroom, was best man, and ushers were Patrick Armstead, Portland, also a schoolmate; Jarold Christensen, Sunnyvale, Calif., a brother of the bride, and Dclbcrt Cline, another schoolmate of the bridegroom. Candlelighters were Susan and Brad Grant. Cedar boughs with silver bells and red ribbons decorated the church. For her daughter's wedding and reception the bride's mother wore a light brown sheath frock and her corsage was of red carnations. The bride groom's mother chose a beige sheath dress and her carnation corsage was white. The couple made their wed ding trip to Los Angeles where they will live while the bride groom attends University of California, Los Angeles. ' Both the bride and bridegroom at tended Milo Academy. Californian Honored Guest Melvin Schulcr, Areata, Calif., was honored at a Small buffet dinner given Saturday evening by Mr. and Mrs. Alfred S. V. Carpenter at their home, Top sides, Old Stage Road. Mr. Schu ler, sculptor and artist, has a one-man show at Rogue Gallery. He is on the faculty of Humboldt State College, Eureka, Calif. The show opened last evening with a reception at the gallery in Mr. Schuler's honor and will remain open until December 12. Also guests at the dinner were Miss LesLee Launer and Lewis Quinby, seniors at Humboldt State College, who accompanied Mr. Schuler here for the show opening and reception. Following the event at the gal lery, Robertson Collins gave a small supper party at his home in Jacksonville for the visitors.
