President and Mrs. Eisen hower initiated a "UN Day Fam ily Meal" at the White House in 1050 with a menu chosen by Mrs. Eisenhower to suit the oc casion. The essence of the philosophy for a ."UN Day Family Meal" is that from time immemorial men have broken bread together as a token and pledge of friend ship and good will . , . and so it will continue to be. Through the serving of international dish es and menus throughout the year, families increase not only their knowledge of food, but guin a greater understanding and ap preciation of the cultures of oth er nationalities. Because our heritage comes from so many countries, eating "international ly probably comes more nat urally to Americans than to peo ple of other lands.
