Court and McAndresw Phone 772-2111 Shopping Center Discussed at Ad Group's Meeting Greer Drew, owner of Drew's Manstore in the Medford Shop ping Center, discussed the growth of the center and its value to the entire business market of the area at a meet ing of the Southern Oregon Ad club recently. Formerly a resident of Kla math Falls, Drew said he be came interested in the new shop ping center in 1958 whe nhe flin ned to open a store in Medford. Statistically, Drew stated, the Medford Shopping Center is classified as a regional busi ness center because it draws approximately 150.000 custom ers from the geographical area of southern Oregon and north ern California. The Medford Shopping Center will soon cover 240.000 square feet of land and is considered the largest such business center between Port land and Sacramento. Attributes Success Drew attributes the success of the shopping center to the fact that new businesses were established only as the public need indicated and that the choice of businesses resulted in a well balanced buying power offered by both local and na tional companies. The shopping center repre sents a $3 million investment, backed by the Equitable Life Insurance company, with an annual sales gross of about $12 million. Unusual in this type of business enterprise, the mer chants have realized a finan cial success from the first year and expect its continued growth. Drew said he believed that be ing close to the downtown shop ping location is good for both business areas, that the Med ford Shopping Center has serv ed as a compliment to the downtown stores, each stimu lating business of the other. Many new stores are planned in the near future, Drew said A Medford Shopping Center Merchants Association will be formed, allowing a wider de velopment of advertising promotion. public hearings on a zone I to the city property located at i a net bid of $2,016.48. change for properties located on i the northwest corner of Prune Award fuel oil contracts to the south side of Crater Lake !
