Humphrey, D-Minn., was expected to reemphasize to his Senate colleagues today the Democratic leaderships inten tion to pass both tax legislation and civil rights measures be fore Congress adjourns. Humphrey said the bills were Flames Destroy Plant at Newport NEWPORT, Ore. (UPD-Fire of undetermined origin destroy ed the Penter Fish Company plant here early Sunday. A spokesman at the Newport fire department described it as the worst blaze in the city's history. The Newport department re ceived the call shortly after 3 a.m. However, flames already had burned through most of the plant's interior when trucks ar rived. Firemen were hampered fty winds up to 35 miles per hour. Trucks from nearby Toledo and a Coast Guard fire boat also fought the blaze, which was confined to the one building. The plant was located on the Yaquina Bay waterfront.
