Humphrey To Push Rights, Tax Bills
WASHINGTON (UPI) Sen.
Hubert H. Humphrey, D-Minn.,
was expected to reemphasize to
his Senate colleagues today the
Democratic leaderships inten
tion to pass both tax legislation
and civil rights measures be
fore Congress adjourns.

NEWPORT, Ore. (UPD-Fire
of undetermined origin destroy
ed the Penter Fish Company
plant here early Sunday. A
spokesman at the Newport fire
department described it as the
worst blaze in the city's history.
The Newport department re
ceived the call shortly after 3
a.m. However, flames already
had burned through most of the
plant's interior when trucks ar
rived. Firemen were hampered
fty winds up to 35 miles per
hour.
Trucks from nearby Toledo
and a Coast Guard fire boat
also fought the blaze, which was
confined to the one building.
The plant was located on the
Yaquina Bay waterfront.
