The Look1 During Coming Season Will Be Two Fashions "The Look" for fall in fashion is really two looks, one sportive blouse and sleeveless vest, and among the indispensable finish and casual, the other sultry and '"ST e5 7. & C . i 1imio..., uC , boot-shoes, soft profile hats and sophisticated. It isn't a question of choosing between them, for designers have so planned things that both looks belong in a woman's itTnHlpAka an4 mmnlomanf Aaph other. The sportive look goes out mostly, though not exclu ': sively, by day, while the sultry . look makes its elegant appear- ance for late day and evening. Sportive look introduces a sep arates feeling into dresses and suits as well as sportswear. Its ultimate expression is in the jaunty suit with long-sleeved L . r t4 textured stockings. Fine Tailoring Fashion emphasis for the sportive is on fine tailoring and menswear fabrics such as her ringbones and pin stripes, used in contrast with very feminine fabrics velvet, for example. Coats go sportive in demi-fit styles, in capes and cape ef fects, in new versions of classic reefers and chesterfields, in shapes borrowed, variously, from bathrobes and raincoats. Popular and sportful sleeve treatment is the raglan. Sultry and sophisticated look is reflected by curve-conscious after-five fashions in jlegant fabrics. Supple crepes, lavish brocades and gleaming velvets appear among the fashion fa vorites. Many are enhanced by beading. The long dress for eve ning occasions, with accompany ing long coat, gets special at tention. Whether sportive or sophisti cated, one thing is outstanding about "The Look this season. It is definitely fall '63, new-looking and fresh, with fashion im pact women will appreciate. SPORT SHIRTS For cool days this knitted sport shirt, with contrasting stripes, combines comfort with smart appearance. CORSETRY COPIES FUR What's newest in pattern for fall foundations is fake furl Look-like leopard, mink and ocelot have been introduced to corsetry, and so has a lizard print. Modernistic designs and feminine florals provide a pretty alternative. Colors are newly subtle as well as bright, with a range of attractive beiges in skin-flattering tones. Country and city clothes are kissin' cousins this fall, as coun try clothes, with all their casual flavor and marvelous mobility, have taken fashion by storm. Expressing the insouciant look of town and country clothes to perfection is leather, smooth and suede. Following this fashion theory, the full-length leather coat takes an important place in the fall wardrobe. Worn belted or loose, it is designed for easy move ment. Style details are kept to a minimum perhaps contrast ing binding, novel buttons or un usual cut of a collar or neckline. For warmth without weight when the frost sets in, leather coats of all lengths fingertip, full or suburban offer shearling linings, many of which conven iently zip out. Leather Shift Last year's pet, the leather shift is back, sassier than ever, Fashion Centers Around Sportive Idea This Season Call it classic, call it casual, call it sportive, sportif, sporty, sportful whatever you call it, the look of fashion is "pour le sport" this season. Often based on the adding up of several parts, it's a look women have long been creating for themselves, with the help of sportswear and seperates. Thus, sportswear tor tne iook that's sportive comes strongly to the fore for fall, and the many women who have made this look their own simply be cause it is easy to wear and to vary, comfortable and dollar stretching, have the happy bonus of finding themselves right in the vanguard of fashion. For the look, the "sporuigni" is on little boy styling. One little boy who provides a lot of the inspiration is Dickens' and Broadway's Oliver. Knickers, vests, patch-sleeved jackets con tribute to this phase ot sportive, and more borrowing-from-the- boys takes place via extensive use of menswear fabrics, such as chalk stripes, herringbones, glen plaids. Like Oliver, fashionable wom en want more in this case, more ways to look sportive, and they get them. There's the ski wear look, no longer confined to the slopes but going everywhere in town and country. Uninhibited colors, furry and stretch fabrics, hood-collars reflect tne intiu ence. Layered look is still another expression of sportive and may be anything from two sweaters paired together to a complete series ot layers SKiri, Diouse, vest, jacket, coat, finished off with sporty accessories and boots or boot-shoes. Jumpers are one of the favorite layers, in figure-skimming versions. Generous helpings of colors and textures supply more and more fashion. It's "the more, the merrier" where colors are concerned three or more neutrals and brights in one outfit. in smooth leather and suede. Brushed with the shades of autumn deep browns and greens, orange, winey red this colorful favorite is often com bined with a jacket or coat of contrasting leather or fabric for a fashionable costume. Epitome of the sportive look is the casual leather suit com posed of easy A-line skirt with cropped or high-riding jacket, in a rainbow of colors and smooth or suede textures. Late- day leather suits retain sim plicity of line but take on the sparkle of jeweling or the soft ness of fur trim. In separates, tailored leather jackets and overblouses team jauntily with shifts, skirts and sweaters, whether cashmere, mohair, tweeds or knits. Leather Outfits Schussing into the ski and apres-ski category is an assort ment of smart leather outfits. Ski pants of smooth leather pair with smooth or suede parka or jacket, shearling lined. Apres- ski or at-home fashions show leather pants and long skirts partnered with tops of fabric or leather or combinations of both. Imaginatively printed or em bossed leathers make other fun toppings. For evening are be-furred or be-jeweled leather capes and coats. Bronze and gold smooth leather appears elegantly in full length gowns or pants and top ensembles for the hostess. Town of Industry Belies It's Name CHICAGO (UPI) Illinois industry is booming except in Industry, III. The town of Industry, 60 miles southwest of Peoria, has no in dustry at all. According to the annual state business census being conducted by Illinois Manufacturers direc tory, Industry is one of 450 Illi nois municipalities lacking a manufacturing or processing plant. On the other hand, says the 51-year-old state industry guide, more than 750 Illinois cities, towns and villages contain more than 22,300 factories and plants. How about Industry?
