Pretty, young town suit has flattering new collar and revers edged in self braid, two self buttons and pockets hidden in seam of the deep-cuffed hemline. Fashionable Autumn Is In Air for Younasters A fashionable autumn is in the air for young juniors. Borrowed from the boys for fall's casual sportive look are "manly" fabrics, skirts with suspender styling, vests, hack ing jackets, blazers, and the very new "game shirt" inspir ed by the English rugby uni form. The Oliver-look of little boy tailoring appears in long sleeved blouses, knickers in tweeds and wide-wale corduroy, and sleeveless jacket-suits. In young junior sportswear, it's smarter to mix than match for fall, and three's never a crowd in outfits that combine three fabrics or colors for fash ion's new layered look. Skirts are shaped for fall in easy A-lines, pleats, wrap arounds, suspender styles, pant skirts and culottes. Neckline News Sweaters make neckline news for fall's layered look. The turtle-neck, worn under a vest, is fashion's favorite, but also on hand for the sweater season are hooded sweaters, leather trimmed sweaters with patched sleeves and V-neck mohairs. Coats for young juniors are casual for everyday, elegantly shaped-in at front and falling free at back for dress. The cape coat is a fall favorite as are car coats and all-weather coats, often pile lined and hooded for school and sport. Neckline and sleeve interest is notable in fall coats. Young junior dresses come in simple, uncluttered shapes. The skimmy, a waistless dress that glides over the figure ending in an A-line skirt, is the fashion leader. Shift-shapes and the low slung overblouse dress with pleated skirt are other young junior favorites for school and dating. Hosiery Fashions Take New Strides The news in the fall legline comes from texture as hosiery fashions take new strides in knee-length and over-the-knee stockings all spelling sportive for town and country. Ribbing, diamond patterns, other textured effects star in stockings for daytime dressing as well as sports. Seams intro duce a new look in full length, patterned hosiery. Plain stretch types hold a new-classic place for casual wear. The stocking wardrobe will naturally continue to include conventional sheers and medium weights, and here the news is color, with pale tones giving way to high-spirited darker shades. For evening, sheers are jeweled, clocked, seamed. Focusing their attention on the two - button suit, the American Institute of Men's and Boy's Wear reports that this suit mod el, in an abundance of interpre tations, will be in the front line of fashion in light and bright colors and patterns, this season. Keyed to both "high style" and "conservative" models, the two button suit is due to regain the fashion leadership it held almost ten years ago. Lighter Look The new lighter and brighter look of clothing will carry over into the fall winter season with medium tones taking over from the formerly dominant darks. There will be some actually light colors worn during the cold sea son, and these will be led by the silver grays. Another important clothing de velopment for next fall and win ter is the return of figure fol lowing suit silhouettes. Intro duced almost two years ago as part of the British look, this silhouette traces the back line of the body as well as the side lines. Quite a few fashion lead ers will be moving this trend toward greater consumer ac ceptance. This, albeit to a lesser extent, will also be found in some of the tweedy, country type casuals such as the "Fri day" or "Saturday Suits." The "brighter" aspects of bus iness suits will be expressed by sprakingly colored iridescents in worsted fabrics as well as in blends of silk and worsted and mohair and worsted. The advancing two - button suit will be joined in the fall fashion parade by the three-button models in the traditional, natural - shoulder and the con ventional, middle - of - the -road categories. The one-button models continue to gather their special adherents. Herringbone Patterns The fal pattern story is led by the resurgence of the classic herringbones. Part of the de veloping "classic look," herring bones are followed by the classic clens. diagonals, crowfoots and barley-corns. Some muted strip ing effects and self - weaves will be important. The silvery grays headline the color story in suits for fall in Plural Approach Is Taken for Colors Two are better than one and three or more are best of all. is fashion's view of color this season. The plural approach to color finds hues by the threes, matching or contrasting, ap pearing in many costumes. If any one group of colors can be said to be the favorite, it's the red family, with the berry reds picked for special distinction and cranberry look ing particularly delectable. Vying with the reds are greens and blues ranging from light and bright to rich and deep. Browns are abundant, and greens and reds mingle with browns in earth tones. Spring-like pinks and purples provide a refreshing fall sur prise, while autumnal orange adds drama. White proves it's an all-year "color. In the midst of all the colors, the basic blacks appear with fresh fashion impact for fall. CHARMING REPTILES Reptile-charming is part of the art of fall fashion, as ac cessories utilize alligator and lizard, real or fake, for every thing from shoes and handbags to jewelry and little vests. the smooth worsteds, sharkskins and the lustrous mohair and silk blends. These tones are folowed closely by the blues, greens and some brown tones. There will, of course, continue to be the sta ple blacks and navys. Vests, that in some cases even went through the summer sea son, return for fall in both tra ditional and high style fields. u NEW SWEATER The Con tinental look shows up in this new zip-front sweater for Fall with its contrasting borders and elbow patches. Soft Silhouettes Add Touch To Autumn's Day wear in Hats f ashion goes to a woman's head for fall, in soft hat silhou ettes that add the perfect "fin ishing touches" to autumn's chic, casual daywear and ele gant styles for after-five. Millinery's soft touch Is in terpreted in felts, velours, furs, and fabrics in a variety of young yet sophisticated shapes to suit the mood of fall fashion. Women will find fall's softie hats per fect for town and travel. Felt is fashion's favorite fabric for fall's face - flattering hats. Designed in soft, slouchy silou ettes, felt hats are side flip-ups with chin straps, stitched slouch es, cloches, carefree, snappy brims and side dips with for ward tilts. In "Mannish" Mood Hats go country - casual to top off sporty daytime fashions. In a "mannish mood," but decided ly feminine, are tweed, leather, suede, reptile and felt in rustic pork - pies, riding and hunting caps and berets. Fall's 'muffled - up" look in scarved or bulky collared suits and coats is carried out in "mys terious" hats reminiscent of the Garbo era. Slouchy felts shield the face, as do caps with mys' tery visors, and hats swathed in scarves or buried in fur. Fall's "lady of mystery" will accent her cocktail dresses and theater suits with veiled whim sies. Fur Facinates Fashion is fascinated with fur, and real or frankly fake hats are both warm and fashionable for fall. This autumn, women can choose fur looks from an animal kingdom of minks, leo pards, beavers, Persian lambs and "off - beat" furs. Fashion has a feather in its aSery loot; cap tor tall! The leathery . is sleek and chic in slouchy daytime millinery, and opulent in feathered fantasies for after five. ; :;. Leather makes fall fashion headlines, in casual cloche, slouch or cap shapes.
