(Landis photo) Late Summer Ceremony A late summer wedding was that of Miss Carol Mae Clark and Dr. Royal Grover Aubrey. The rites were read at 8:30 o'clock in the evening of Satur day, August 31, in Central Church of Christ. The Rev. Fred 0. Sapp Jr., First Advent Christian church, asisted by John Heberling, min ister of the Central Church of Christ, performed the ceremony. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willard B Clark, 1679 Old Stage road, Medford, and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Aubrey, 202 South Oakdale avenue, Med ford. Given in marriage by her fa ther, the bride wore a Chantilly lace gown over satin. The bodice embroidered with seed pearls, was made with scalloped neck line. The skirt of tiers of ruf fled net was designed with chap el train of Chantilly lace over satin. The fingertip length veil of illusion was held by a caplet of lace embroidered with seed pearls. She carried a cascade bouquet of carnations and white rosebuds centered with an or chid. Sister Is Matron Mrs. Howard Watkins. a sis ter of the bride was matron of honor and Mrs. Larry Bucy, Wilder, Ida., a sister of the bridegroom, was bridesmatron. Miss Nancy Aubrey, a sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Jo- Ann Robertson, a cousin of the bride were bridesmaids. Ann Marie Clark, Phoenix, a niece of the bride, was flower girl, and Barto Gene Watkins, her nephew, carried the rings. The bride's attendants and the flower girl wore princess styled satin gowns with lace panels which accented the backs. All had lace sleeves and lace cum merbunds. The honor attendant was in deep purple and the others were in lavender. Their deep purple pillbox hats of lace over satin held short lavender veils. The attendants carried bouquets of orchid and white gladioli. Lyle Steers, Klamath Falls, a cousin of the bridegroom served as best man and ushers were James A. Clark and Vaughn W. Clark, brothers of the bride, and Jerry McCormack, Kent, Wash. Miss Pauline Teresi, a niece of the bridegroom, and Miss Connie Potter, Dahl Pine, Ore., lighted the candles. Jerry McCormack and the Rev. Mr. Sapp were soloists and Mrs. Melody Dunn was the musician. Reception Held Almost 200 guests attended the ceremony and reception which the bride's parents gave in the church banquet room. Mrs. L. K Morris decorated the reception table and arrangements of or chid and white gladioli were about the room. JUST ARRIVED! Mrs. Vaughn Clark, a sister-in-law of the bride, served coffee and Mrs. Donald Clark, another sister-in-law, who had decorated the wedding cake, served it as sisted by Mrs. Vernon Robert son, also an aunt of the bride. Presiding at the gift table was Miss Sharon Bauer, Springfield, assisted by Daniel Clark, a nep hew of the bride, and Greg Mil ler. For her daughter's wedding and reception the bride's mother wore an ice blue bro cade satin jacket dress and the bridegroom's mother was dres sed in a green brocade frock, also with jacket. The couple made their wed ding trip to Southern California, the Carlsbad cavern and Idaho. They plan to be in their new home at 1032 Gilman drive, Co lma, Calif., by September 15. For traveling the bride was at tired in a beige Irish linen suit with candy apple red accessor ies. Her corsage was from her bridal bouquet. The bride attended Medford High school and Berkshire Christian college, Lenox, Mass. She has been employed as a dental assistant by Dr. Norman T. Capsey. Dr. Aubrey attended schools in Cottage Grove, the San Jose Bible college, the University of Oregon and the University of Oregon medical school. He is a medical doctor serving with the Navy in San Francisco. To Be Honored The Rev. and Mrs. Harvey C. Coovert will be honored at a reception Sunday, September 15 in observance of their twenty fifth wedding anniversary. The event will be held in Zion Luth eran church Fellowship hall fol lowing the 11 a.m., church ser vice. The Rev. Mr. Coovert is min ister of the church. Members of the congregation and other friends are invited to attend. Hostess Gives Party Series During Season Mrs G. R. Carter, 821 East Jackson street, has been host ess during the summer for a series of parties. The first, a luncheon, hon ored her two step-grandsons, Gerald and Anthony Browne, who recently arrived from New York City where they had been living with their maternal grandmother. They have re turned to Oregon to be with their stepfather and their mother, Mr. and Mrs. Robert R. Carter, Talent. Six guests attended the luncheon. The other parties given by Mrs. Carter were afternoon events to honor her sister, Mrs. H. C. Cole who was here from California. The first entertained friends of Mrs. Cole from Eagle Point; eight guests were pres ent. Another was attended by 14 women in the Carter neigh borhood and from Rogue Val lay Manor. The third party was attended by friends to Mrs. Cole from Ashland. Ten were present. Mrs. Cole since has left for her home. Her visit here was the occasion for other events given by relatives and friends. Robert R. Carter's older son, Robert A. Carter, is a gradu ate student at Yale university law school in New Haven, Conn. He was gradusted from the uni versity in 1958, when he entered the Army. Later he was a re porter for the Journal-Courier in New Haven, Conn., for which he won a prize from the Con necticut State Medical society for newspaper medical writing. In a recent issue of "News week" he and three other men from the Yale law school were subjects for a story. They had been chosen as a debate team to appear before a trio of distin guished jurists from the U. S. Supreme Court. Robert R. Carter's younger son, William George Carter, Medford, will leave soon for Eugene where he is a student of the University of Oregon law school. Valley Group In Redding For Ceremony Several valley residents are in Redding, Calif., this week end to attend the wedding of Miss Katherine Diane Graf of that citv and Ronald Lawrence Reich, 527 Bush street, Central Point, which was scheduled for Saturday, September 7 at 8 o'clock in the Redding First Methodist church. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Graf of Redding and the bridegroom is a son of Mrs. Woodrow Keicn, formerly of Medford and Cen tral Point, and the late Mr. Reich. Mrs. Reich, who had just arrived in Central Point after seven months at Cape Cod, Mass., -and the bridegroom elect left Friday for Redding. Among others who planned to be there were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Reich, Dark Hollow road, uncle and aunt of the bride groom, and John Frazer, who was to serve as an usher, and Gordon Safely, best man. Mrs. Woodrow Reich has been a houseguest in the home of her mother, Mrs. Fannie E. Grant, Central Point. Schiiennan (Locke photo) Presbyterian Sei 'vice Marries Ashland Couple ASHLAND The wedding sen viced for Linda Ann Wright and Frederick M. Schuerman was read September 1 by the Rev. B. J. Holland in the First Pres byterian church. The 3 p.m. ceremony was attended by more than 90 guests. The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. William Wright, 595 Taylor stree, Ashland. Mr. Sch uerman is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schuerman of Portland, who were Ashland residents for many years. An empire style gown of white silk organza over taffeta was worn by the bride. It was made with three-tiered embroidered skirt and cummerbund, cap sleeves and scoop neckline. With it she wore an elbow length ma line veil held by a pearl fila gree crown and carried a cas cade bouquet of white stephano tis encircling an orchid corsage. She was given in marriage by her father. Three Attendants The three attendants, Miss Carol Linninger, Miss Linda Sue Crabill, Grants Pass, and Mrs. Robert Wright, the bride's sister-in-law, wore matching frocks of antique gold satin, sleeveless and with bell skirts. Their satin circlet hats and veils were de signed by the bride's mother and Mrs. Robert C. Snider. Each car ried a bouquet of white Fuji chrysantheums tied with gold steamers, Quinton Million of Portland was best man and ushers were Dennis Berry and Loy Kahler, both of Portland. The bride's three - year - old nephew, Kyle Wright, was ring bearer. For All Time to Come, a wedding song written and com posed by the late Jeanne Alden Joy of Ashland, was sung by Mrs. Snider, who also sang "The Lord's Prayer," accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Glenn Taylor. Lighted tapers in candelabra and tall baskets of white glad ioli decorated the church altar and the same gold and white motif was used in the Fireside room where the bride's parents were hosts for a reception. Cake Served Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Lawrence San Francisco, uncle and aunt of the. bride, cut and served the cake, while the bridegroom's sisters, Miss Sheila Schuerman and Mrs. Robert Walters, Port land, and Mrs. Jerry Johnson, the bride's cousin, served punch. Mrs. Jim Parsons and Mrs. K. A. Parsons, the bride's aunts, were in charge of the reception. Mrs. John H. McAvory assisted the bride and Miss Peggy Par sons, a cousin, and Miss Dian Murphy were in charge of the gifts. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Wright wore an embroid ered satin sheath of dusty rose with beige accessories and a cymbidium orchid. When the couple left for their honeymoon trip to Canada the new Mrs. Schuerman wore a navy blue figured sheath and full length navy coat. Her ac cessories were white. To Study Upon their return Mr. and Mrs. Schuerman will go to Cor- vallis where both will continue Nursing School To Graduate Local Women Two young Medford women will be graduated from the Port land Good Samaritan hospital school of nursing in ceremonies September 13 at 8 p m., in Trinity Episcopal church, Port land. They are Miss Sharon O'Con nors, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. O'Connors, Route 4, Box 369K, and Mrs. Grant Quinney Jr., the former Miss Marcia Barrell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Barrell, 101 Green way drive,. Mr. and Mrs. O'Connors and son, Harold Blane O'Connors, and Mr. and Mrs. Barrell, ac companied by Mrs. Grant Quin ney Sr., 1015 Winchester avenue, will travel north to attend the ceremonies. Miss O'Connor will return to Medford with her family. She is scheduled to join the nursing staff at Rogue Valley Memorial hospital on September 18. Mr. and Mrs. Quinney Jr., whose marriage was an event of last June in Medford, will leave for .Provo, Utah, where he will be a student at the Brig ham Young university. Women Visit Rogue Valley Visitors in the Rogue valley last week were Miss Gladys Everett and Mrs. Genevieve Forsythe, both Portland. Miss Everett, a lawyer, has served as circuit judge pro tern in Portland and is on the Presi dent's Status of Women com mittee. Mrs. Forsythe is in charge of adoptions for the Ore gon Welfare commission. Ihe two women attended four performances of the Oregon Shakespearean f e s t i v al. One evening they were dinner guests of Judge and Mrs. Edward Kel ly, Medford. They were registered at the Mark Antony hotel in Ashland. Peter son, Beaverton, Ore., have an nounced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Lynn Peterson, to Thomas Todd Kersten, son of Mrs. Margaret Kersten, 135 Vancouver avenue, Medford. Miss Peterson, who will be a sophomore at Lewis and Clark college, Portland, has spent the summer with friends and rela tives in Medford. Mr. Kersten has completed three years at Southern Oregon college and now is employed by Sun Life Assurance company of Canada. No wedding date has been set. Lynn Peterson Philharmonic Group Singers Are Needed Plans of the Southern Phil harmonic society for the 1963-64 season include performances of Gilbert and Sullivan's "Pina fore," and "Pirates of Pen zance," and two matinee per formances in March of Hansel and Gretel with dialogue for children. Huberty, came here from Spokane, Wash. Mr. Mills is with the Pacific Northwest company, and was transferred here by the firm. The Mills and Mrs. Huberty are living at 1545 Old Stage road.
