Nichol is to speak on shrubs "off the benten track" for the horticulture program. Mrs. R. D. Abel's subject will concern herbs. The club is conducting a drive for new members. Theme for the year is "Beautify the Little Corners." Mrs. C. L. Miller is club president. She was dressed in a mint green nylon sheath frock over taffeta with overskirt. Her bouquet was of pink car nations and white stoiek. William J. Reaves, Shady Cove, was best man. Awards Received By Auxiliary At a recent meeting of the American Legion auxiliary, delegates to the department convention at Pendleton spoke on convention activities and sessions. Those attending from Med ford were Mrs. Walter Col lins, Mrs. Edward McGinty, Mrs. H. C. Goldsmith and Mrs. Earl Bigalow. Ten awards were reported as received by the unit, three of which were traveling tro phies. One was given for the best narrative report on all around Poppy program cover ing poppy sales, poppy post ers, Miss Junior Poppy, pop py corsage, educational pub licity, window display and emphasizing each facet of the Poppy program. The second was a memorial trophy for the most outstand ing Americanism program for the year and the last was for the best report of activities of the past presidents' commit tee, A permanent trophy, a si 1 ver tray, was won for the best j all-around report of unit ac-, tivilics for the year. O. N. Poling re turned to her home in Med tori Thursday after visiting relatives end friends in the Portland area. She was accompanied south by a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. F. R. Lawrence, Bremerton, Wash. Mr. Law rence is e son of Mrs. Walter Grant, Centre! Point. While In the valley the Lawrences visited her sisters, Mrs. Mildred DeWitt and Mrs. Lucian Van Gordon. The Van Gordons had re cently returned from Lake Tahoe where they had spent part of their vacation. They also visited in the Robert Al der home in Eugene. Mrs. Al der is the former Judith Van Gordon. While in Portland Mrs. Pol ing was honored at a luncheon at Willamette Manor given by Mrs. James H. Edgar, former ly of Ashland. Other guests were Miss Edith Bork and Miss Edith Strange, also formerly of Ashland. Following her return she was visited by her nephew and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Higby, of Phillipsburg, Kan. Among the other local relatives visited by the Hig bvs were Mrs. Bessie E. Ynune. another aunt, and Warren and Don Poling, Mrs. Jack Florcy, Mrs. S. S. Stev ens, Mrs. DeWitt and Mrs. Van Gordon, all cousins.
