The Rev. Gerald Nelson officiated at the double ring rites. t5 The bridegroom's parents are Mrs. O. L. Brusletten, Beaverton, and Vernon Whit tenburg, Winchester. (Landii photo) California Ceremony Held Mr. and Mrs. Walter Witt ke, whose marriage In Carmel, Calif., was an event of mid summer, are living at 9900 Monroe avenue extension, Ap tos, Calif. The bride is the former Miss Elizabeth G a I Lockwood, Santa Barbara, Calif., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert James Lockwood, 423 Highland drive, Medford, who went south for the wed ding ceremony. The bridegroom is a son of Dr. Anna Turner, Santa Barbara, Calif. The bride attended Medford High school and San Diego State college. The bridegroom received his education In Ger man and Belgian schools and now is an electronics techni cian with the Sylvania Elec tronics firm in Santa Cruz. Dr. K. Fillmore Grey per formed the 3 o'clock after noon rites July 12 in the Car mel Methodist church. Mr. Lockwood gave h i I daughter in marriage. The bride's long satin gown over taffeta was designed with a basque bodice and A-line skirt. The back was accented with a bow which held a pan el of hemline length. Her silk illusion veil fell from a tiara of starched lace trimmed with dewdrop pearls and she car ried a bouquet of gardenias and stephanotis. Her only or nament was a diamond pen dant which had belonged to her maternal grandmother, the late Mrs. E. G. Sawyer1 of Medford. ! Mrs. Leonard Glcesing, Car mel, the honor attendant, wore a white silk sheath dress with a crushed red silk belt I and her flowers were red and white carnations. Mr. Glcesing was the best man. The bride's mother was dressed in pale pink crepe de Chine wilh while lace lint and Dr. Turner's frock was of pale pink silk. Both had white accessories and white carnation corsages. About 30 guests attended the wedding and champagne reception given by the bride's parents at the Mark Thomas hotel In Monterey. The couple made their wed ding trip to Lake Tahoe. Family To Visit t-rom England Talent Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Conner, 235 Gibson street, have received the news that their son-in-law and daugh ler, Sgt. and Mrs. Harold Brown and children, Mnr lene, Virginia, Richard. Clif ford and Bcrnice, are to ar rive Wednesday from Eng land. They have lived in England for the past three and one half years while Sergeant Brown was stationed there. church. Jeffrey Foehm, Sea side, Phi Delta Theta frater nity brother of the bride groom, was soloist. Wean Irish Linen Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor length gown of wnilo In-h linen with Irish lace accents on the slim skirt. The bodice was fashioned with a square neckline. A satin and pearl circlet held her shoulder length veil and she carried a bouquet of white rosebuds. Miss Donna Elizabeth Pyle, Portland, Alpha Chi Omega sorority sister of the bride, was maid of honor. The other attendants were Miss Marilyn Elaine Lea, her sister, and Mrs. Frank Lagesen, Portland. They wore peppermint pink linen frocks with rose em broidered cummerbunds and carried arm bouquets of deep red roses. Their headdresses were circlets of matching linen embroidered with roses. Candlelighters were Mrs. Rodger Bloedcl, Stayton, sor ority sister of the bride, and Mrs. Robert Elden, Lakcvicw. They wore pink linen .'rocks and had wrist corsages of pink carnations and fern Jerry Allen Whittenburg, Portland, served as best man for his brother. Charles Stev en Bally, Sacramento, Calif., nd Raymond Torgesun, Co:- vallis, fraternity brothers of the bridegroom, Frank How ard Lagcscn, Portland, and Larry Paul Lea, brother of the bride, seated the guests. Mothers Wore Silk For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Lea chose a pale beige silk ensemble with green silk hat and bone white acces sories. Her corsage was a green cymbidium orchid. Mr.-. Bruslcttcn wore a grey-green silk suit with matching ac cessories and spider chrysan themum corsage. A reception followed in the garden and at the poolside at the Lea's home. Mrs. Reese Alexander and Mrs. Stuart McQueen cut and served the wedding cake. Mrs. John Welch, Portland, poured cof fee and Mrs. Ronald G. Haw Icy, Grants Pass and Mrs. Norman Mulonc, Beaverton, presided at the punch bowls. Bags of rice and bridegroom's cake were passed by Laurie McQueen and Robin Bruslct tcn, Beaverton, sister of the bridegroom. Miss Nancy Adams, Hayward, Calif., was in charge of the guest book. Greeting guests were Miss Kay Bishop, Washnugal, Wash,, sorority sister of the bride. Travel in Canada The couple traveled to Vic toria, British Columbia, on their wedding trip, the bride wearing a turquoise linen en semble with bone and tur quoise colored accessories. They will make their home at 5023 Northeast Hoyl street. Portland, after September 1. The bride altcnded Medford High school and received ner bachelor of science and mas ter of arts degrees at Ore gon State university. She is teacher of homemaking 'n trie Reynolds school district. Mr. Whittenburg attended Beav erton High school, Portland State college and Oregon Stele university and is a pharniaci.it with Pay Less Drug Store. He was a member of the var sity basketball team at Port land Slate college. The evening prior to the wedding the bride's parents were hosts at a rehearsal din ner held at North's Chuck Wagon restaurant. Prior to the wedding the bride was honored al two showers. They were given by Miss Coralen Richardson, Portland, and Mrs. Stuart V. McQueen, Medford. The bride- groom-clcct was honored at bachelor party given by Wil liam Hniley, Beaverton, and Brian Williamson, Portland. Women Return From Canada Mrs. L. A. Brennesholtz, iMactronn lane, aid Mrs. Ralph Krows. 312 South Ivy street, returned last week after being away for over two weeks on a lour in Canada. They were accompanied from here by Mrs. A. J. Mon crieff, Seattle, who had been in Medford as a housegurst of Mrs. Krows. In Hood Ri ver they joined Mrs. Irene Wilson, a sister of Mrs. Bren nesholtz, and the four con tinued on the trip. The travelers stopped at Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper National park and Calgary, Alberta They returned bv way of Glacier National park. Showers Honor Bride-Elect From Talent Talent Miss Linda Tomp kins, whose marriage to Al len Raduski was planned for August 24, in West Main Church of Christ, has been honored at several pre-wed-ding events. In mid-August Mrs. Robert Jacobs entertained at a per sonal shower in the bride elect's honor. The event was held in the home of Mrs. Leo Jacobs, 2740 Ruth drive, Med ford. The refreshment table was centered with a white cake decorated with pink hearts, a wedding bell and bride and bridegroom fig urines. Nine guests attended. I Miss Tompkins next was honored at a miscellaneous shower given by Mrs. Jack Fowler at her home, 5747 South Pacific highway, Med ford. Decorations were bells, balloons and streamers. After games the 10 guests were served refreshments. Women of the staff at First Federal Savings and Loan as sociation, Medford, where the bride-elect is employed, enter tained August 21 at dinner and a shower in Rogue Valley Country club. Attending were Miss Jeral- dyn Jerome, Miss Rilla Kay Den Herder, Mrs. Douglas Harsh, Mrs. Blair Crosby, Mrs. John Myers, Mrs. John Tompkins, mother of the bride-elect, and the honored guest. The bride-elect's parents live at 215 North Second street, Talent. Mr. Raduski is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Vance Gage, 104 New street, Talent. Summer Visitor To Seattle Mrs. Bruce B. Samson, who has been visiting her mother, Mrs. Moore Hamilton, and her brother, Robert Hamilton, 43 Rose avenue, for the past few weeks left Thursday for Se attle to join her husband, Lieutenant Samson, a reserve pilot in the Navy. He arrived in Seattle from a tour with the Navy in southern Call fornia. Lieutenant Samson, who was graduated from the Uni versity of Oregon school of law in June, has accepted a position as a law clerk in the office of Federal Judge Wil liam East, in Portland. Judge East will preside on the Federal bench in Phoenix, beginning September 3 for five weeks and the Samsons will leave for Phoenix this week. They will return to Portland to live at the close of the five-week session of court. Gold Hill Visitor Leaves for Home Gold Hill - Mrs. Karl John slon, who had been a guest in the home of her sister, Mrs. George Dorman since June, left last week for her home in Dcs Moines, Iowa. Enroute east she planned to stop in El Monte, Calif., to visit Mr. and Mrs. Robert Burnett and family. During her stay in southern Oregon, Mrs. Johnston also visited her nieces and their families, Mrs. Albert Gascon, Gold Hill and Mrs. Lloyd Dusenberry, Sams Valley. Returns From Coast Trip Prospect - Mrs. Zella Tullis has returned from a week's vacation trip to the coast. While away she was a guest of Mr. and Mrs. William Grenbemmer, former Medford residents. Group Home From Hawaii Mr. and Mrs. Alan Jewett, and daughters, Sandra and Shari, 6 South Groveland avenue, returned last week from a week's trip to Hawaii. They were guests at the Waikik-i Surf hotel in Hono lulu. Among the activities in which they participated was a luau at the Hilton Hawaiian village. Tours and cruises which the group made were to Mt. Tantalus; a perfume factory; Pearl Harbor and the Arizona monument; Ula Mau village, the Waikiki aquarium and zoo; a Kodak show which fea tured Hawaiian hula and Ta- hitian dancers, and a show at the International Market place. The Jcwclts also made a tour of the island of Oahu and watched the pineapple harvest. Miss Shari Jewell stayed in Portland to spend some time wilh her sister who now resides there. She is a student at Portland State college and had just completed the sum mer session before making the trip. School Lunch Workshop Set Here Monday The Medford schools will host t h e Annual School Lunch workshop for Jack son, Josephine and Klamath counties at Hoover Elemen tary school, 2323 Siskiyou boulevard, Monday, August 26. Mrs. Virginia Wail, school lunch coordinator for the Medford schools, is general chairman assisted by mem bers of the Medford School Food Service association. Registration and coffee hour will be held from 8 to 9 a.m. Dennis Patch, supervisor of the Oregon School Lunch program, and Miss Janet But tcrworth, consultant for the Oregon School Lunch pro gram, will attend. Time and motion studies and food dem onstrations will highlight the morning session. Miss Bulterworth, as presi dent of the Oregon School Food Service association, will review plans for the American School Food Serv ice association meeting in Portland In August 1964. . 1 Events Honor Valley Guest Mrs. Edmund Maulz, Ft. Worth, Tex., is o leave today after being a houscguest for the past ten days in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Keat ing, 148 East Valley View road, Ashland. The visitor is well-known in the valley from many visits here and her arrival was the occasion for several events in her honor. Mrs. George M. Roberts 1815 Crown avenue, was host ess for an afternoon parly On Thursday Mrs. Gain Rob inson gave a luncheon and bridge in her home at 1018 South Oakdale avenue. The Kcatings entertained tor Mrs. Mautz al luncheon in the Colony club, Friday, and Saturday evening Mrs. E. H Hanlcy and Mrs. Hanlcy Hcf fcrnan, Ross lane, were hos tesses for a supper party. Methodist Wedding Held Ashland News of interest in southern Oregon is the marriage of Miss Coralen Ann Richardson and Frank Howard Lagesen, which was an event of August 10 in Portland. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Rich ardson, Portland, and the bridegroom, a graduate of Medford High school, is a I dine son of Mr. and Mrs. Haakon ! Mrs. M. Lageson, 945 Harmony lane, Ashland. The Rev. Stanley Andrews performed the ceremony at 8 o'clock in the evening in the Portland First Methodist church. Mr. Richardson escorted his daughter to the altar and gave her in marriage. She wore a brocade satin prin cess-styled gown with jacket and train. A headpiece of flowers and seed pearls held her elbow length veil and she carried a bouquet of stepha notis, roses and ivy. with a handkerchief, a gift of her aunt, Mrs. W. A. Davenport, opokane. Seven Attendants Miss Gail Holstcn, Seattle, a cousin of the bride, was the honor attendant. Brides matrons were Mrs. Gary Cur tis, Mrs. Robert Hormel and Mrs. Jerry Hendricks, all Portland, and Mrs. Fred Cast Jr., Eugene. Bridesmaids were Miss Sonya Lea, Med ford, and Miss Monica Setz iol, Portland. Their turquoise blue silk linen frocks with white lace trimming were similar in style to the gown worn by the bride. Their pillbox hats matched their gowns and they carried bouquets of white roses and carnations. Candlelighters were Randi Lou Sypher, a cousin of the bride, and Joan West, both Portland. James Allan Cooksey, Yuma, Ariz., formerly of Medford, was best man. Ush ers were Gary Schaffer, Med ford; Fred Murschall, Grants Pass, and Mr. Hormel, Larry Stein, Jerry Stein, James Whittenburg. all Portland, and Dcrral Ross, also a for mer Medford resident now of Portland. All while flowers includ ing orchids, gladioli, roses and carnations, wilh ivy dec orated the church. The champagne reception was given by the bride's par ents in the Pompeiian room in the Congress hotel. Aboul 350 guests had attended the wedding and some 300 were at the reception. Trina and Douglas Her man, El Paso. Tex., niece and nephew of the bridegroom, and Donald Lavcnthal, New York City, a cousin of the bride, passed pieces nf the bridegroom's cake and packets of rice. Out-of-Town Guests Other out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Her man, brother-in-law and sis ter of the bridegroom, El Paso; Mrs. Cooksey, Yuma, Ariz.; Mrs. Murschall, Grants Pass; Mrs. Schaffer, Mrs. Bertha Brewold and Mrs. Na Ramirez, all Medford; Phil Groves, Klamath Falls: Mrs. Chris Bcrtclsen, Seattle; Mr. Davenport and Mr. and Mrs. Ray L. Cain, Spokane, Wash., and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Cain, Bremer ton, Wash. Several pre-wedding events were given in honor of the bride-elect and included events in Grants Pass, Eu gene and Portland. The rehearsal dinner, giv en by the bridegroom's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Haakon Lagesen, Ashland, was held in the Washington hotel, Portland, the evening prior to the wedding. The bride was graduated from Portland State college in 1963 and is employed as a teacher by the Portland Public school system. The bridegroom, who also was graduated last spring from the same college, is a junior accountant with the Yergen and Meyer Certified Public Accountant firm. The couple made their wedding trip to Canada. They will live in Portland. Spend Week Hornbrook - Mr. and Mrs. James Gaut and their grand daughter, Carol Jean Bowen, all Fallon, Nev., spent last week here as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wayne. Over night guests at the Wayne home on Monday were Mr. and Mrs. Wally Fakindeny and son, Paul, Riverside, ; Calif. Pre-Wedding Events Given Miss Claudia Hoover, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claud W. Hoover, Vilas road, whose marriage to Rob ert E. Allen was planned for Saturday, August 24 in First Presbyterian church, was honored at two recent pre wedding events. Miss Pamela Watson and her mother, Mrs. S. Glen Watson. 215 Renault avenue, entertained in their home. At the evening party, the bride elect was presented miscella neous gifts.
