VISITS CARRIER Dr. Elliott D. Becken, assistant Medford school superintendent, talks with Navy Capt. L. E. Harris on the flight deck of the attack aircraft carrier USS Midway operating off the California coast. Becken was aboard the carrier from July 8 through 12 as one of 12 men who were guests of the Secretary of the Navy. Becken boarded the ship at Alameda, Calif. Cruises of this type are operated on a no-cost-to-the government basis to make citizens aware of naval sea and air power.
