Both Mr. and Mrs. Quaken bush are longtime residents of the valley. They both came here with their families in 1906 from Wisconsin and both attended Talent schools. They were married July 3, 1913, in Talent. Mrs. Quackenbush is the former Dorothy Spitzer and for many years her father, Joseph Spitzer, operated the Talent Grocery store. Mr. yuacKcnbush is a son of Mrs. William J. Quacken bush, and the late Mr. Quack. enbush, a valley orchardist. Earlier in the day of the open house, the couple honored his mother in observance of her ninety-fifth birthday. They, with other relatives and friends called on her at nursing home in Central Point where she now lives. Workshop ic To Be Foreign Aid The assets and limitations of foreign aid legislation now before congressional commit. tecs will be discussed at the League of Women Voters workshop Tuesday, Julv 16. The session is the second in a scries of four meetings the non-partisan voters group is holding this month to study proposed legislation for eco nomic aid abroad. Other ses sions are sot for Tuesdays July 23 and 30. All are from 10 a.m. to noon In the Public Library of Mcdford and Jackson County. , Last Tuesday the group dis cussed the proposed Mutual Security Act for 1964, which is now before committees. Mis Clara Hlnsey summarized major aims of the proposed act and Mrs. F. W. Bogard, study chairman, reviewed the League of Women Voters' position on foreign economic aid. The national group's cri teria for "sound and effective" aid calls for "long-range plan ning, self-help by the recipi ent countries, improved coor dination, staffing and admin istration, and adequate fi nancing of aid. .- . Leaders Named ' Other League members leading Tuesday's discussion were Mrs, Victor King, who summarized the relation of the united Nations, to the pro posed legislation, and Mrs. Duntmr Carpenter, who spoke on the Alliance for Progress aspects. Mrs. L. C. Jensen was session moderator. Next Tuesday's session will Include a review of League background studies and a dls cusion of the Clay committee's report on U. S. foreign aid programs. , All women interested in the non-partisan study of govern ment are invited to participate in the League, Mrs. Ogden Kellogg, president, stressed. Harold W. McDonald in the presence of 75 guests on July. 3. The bride, given in mar riage by her father, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph F. Mallery, Route 1. box 370, Central Point. Mr. Goin, of Route 1, Box 348A, is the son of Mrs. Chester Lassen, Olympia, Wash., and the late Ray F. Goin. For the double ring rites, the bride wore a floor length satin and lace gown with a long veil held by a small lace cap. She earned wnite roses on a white Bible. Mr. Bates, Ashland, was best matron of honor, wore a pink taffeta dress with white ac cessories. ' The bridesmaid, Miss Jane Grubbs, wore a green rayon dress with white accessories. Vicky Atkins,. Citrus Heights, Calif., was flower girl and ring bearer -was Grant Mallery, brother ot the bride. The flower girl wore a yellow dress. Joe Bate, Ashland, was best man, and William Goin, Phoenix, brother of the bride groom, served as usher. Mrs. Harold McDonald played the wedding music and Frank Grimm, Gold Hill, was soloist. The bride's mother chose a green dress and the bride groom's mother, a blue suit. Both -wore white accessories. At the reception held in the Phoenix Community hall, Mrs. William Goin and Mrs. Dan Goin, both sisters-in-law of the bridegroom, cut and served the cake made by Mr'. William Goin. Later that day a dinner was given for the couple by Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bates at their home in Ashland. The bride was graduated from Crater High school, and is self-employed in leather garment work. The bride groom attended schools in Glendale, Ore., and is em ployed at Double Dee Lumber company, Central Point. After a trip to the Oreijpn coast, the couple will be at home in Central Point.
