4 C 1 v? i , , , , J ii . Mr. and Mrs. John Edmond DeMerare Navy Couple Wed in Cave Junction Rites Cave Junction - Mr. and Mrs. John Edmond DeMeyere will make their home in Mt. View, Calif., following their return from a wedding trip to the Oregon coast. Their wedding was an event of July 6 at the Cave Junc tion Community church at 8 o'clock In the evening. The Rev. Gene Denning officiated at the double ring rites. The bride Is the former Betty Lou Carter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer L. Car ter. She is an aviation store keeper airman in the Navy WAVES. Mr. DeMeyere, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hale, Highland, Mich., is an aviation metalsmlth second class in the Navy. Both are stationed t Moffett Field, Calif. (, White Shasta daisies, pink roses and greenery decorated the church for the wedding attended by 90 relatives and friends. Mrs. Walter Eichler played the organ wedding music and accompanied Lyle Smith, uncle of the bride, soloist. Wears While Lee The bride wore a floor length gown of white lace over slipper satin. It was de signed with fitted bodice with a pleated neckline band which formed cap sleeves, and full tiered skirt with a short train. Her fingertip length veil was held by a lace and satin rosette and she carried a nosegay bouquet of peace and fashion roses. Mr. Carter escorted his daughter to the altar and gave her in mar Wage. JULY 14. 1963 They wore pink chiffon frocks on the same style as the bride's and carried nosegay bouquets of pink roses. Their colonial hats were of pink carnations and net. ' Kim Carter was flower girl for her sister. She wore a pink taffeta and white lace frock with pink net and car- nation hut. Candlcllghters were Jean and Craig Smith, cousins of the bride. Jean wore a green dress with pink flowers in her hair. They car ried pink tapers with pink rosebuds, Bertll P. E. Elllasson. Oak land, Calif., served as best man and seating the guests were David Denning, Dan De- Merssemah and William Min- near. Ring bearer was Lyle Carter, brother of the bride. Pink and Silver Following the ceremony a reception was held at the church. Pink roses in silver bowls and pink candles In sil ver candelabra decorated the serving tnbles. Mrs. Robert Robin and Mrs. William How land cut and served the wed ding cake. Mrs. Fay Arrants presided at the punch bowl and Mrs. Llllle Martin poured coffee. Mrs. Max McNaught, Mrs. C. O. Overholscr, Jef ferson, Ore., and Mrs. Smith, Klamath Falls, were at the gift table. The bride attended Illinois Valley High school. Mr. De Meyere attended Highland, Mich., High school. Among the out of town guests were Mrs. Mabel Jack son, Portland, and Mr. and Mrs. Homer M. Smith, Grants Pass, grandparents of the bride; Mrs. Elllasson. W. Rinker, 2100 Val ley View road, became the bride of William Richard Laton in a double ring cere mony held June 29 at First Presbyterian cnurcn. The Rev. B. J. Holland of ficiated at the 7 o'clock eve ning rites attended by SO rel atives and friends. Mrs. Ken neth Thompson, 2215 High way 68, Ashland, is the bride groom's mother. Mr. Rinker escorted his daughter to the altar and gave her In marriage. The bride wore a ballerina length frock of white organza and lace over satin. It was embroidered with seed pearls and her elbow length veil was held by a pearl crown. She carried a bouquet of white rosebuds. Miss Gloria Quackenbush, Talent, was maid of honor. She wore a pink chiffon frock and carried pink rosebuds. Eric Rinker, brother of the bride, was best man. Albert Panhellenic Events Announced Rogue valley Panhellenic council members met for luncheon July 10 at the Rogue Valley Country club for the purpose of planning a style show and evening dessert par ty. The event will honor young women Interested In rushing activities upon enter ing college in the fall. The meeting was called by com mittee chairman, Mrs. Monty Penweli. The dessert party will be held at the home of Mrs. Floyd H. Baker, 1917 East Main street, on Tuesday, Au gust 6, at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Jean Hart will present tne tiyie show, and rushing activities will be explained. , Lists are being compiled and invitations . are being mailed to graduates of Med ford, St. Mary's, Crater, Eagle Point, Ashland and Phoenix High schools. The evening of July 2 the brldc-elect was honored at B bridal shower at the home of Mrs. Deaton with Mrs. Mc- Naught and Mrs. Martin as cohostesscs. Miss Susan Williams and Miss Lu cille Thompson served the cake and punch. Miss Carol McCammon, Salem, was in charge of the guest book and Miss Meryle Clark, Burbank, Calif., wbs at the gift table. For traveling to southern California on their wedding trip, the bride wore a tur quoise raw silk suit and white accessories. Her corsage was of pink rosebuds. The bride Is a graduate of Southern Oregon college and is a second and third grade teacher in the Eugene public schools. The bridegroom, a graduate of Crater High school, also attended South ern Oregon college and the University of Oregon. Among the out of town guests who attended were Mrs. Edna Keeler, Klamath Falls, grandmother of the bridegroom; Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Harris, Klamath Falls, aunt and uncle, of the bride groom; Mrs. Virginia Smith and daughters, Judy and Pat, Salem, and Mr. and Mrs. Dun aid K. Ford, Grants Pass. . ' " Aviatrix Is Subject Of Program ' The program of the South ern Oregon Philatelic society at the meeting on Thursday, July 11, was given by Clyde Smith of Ashland, telling nf his meeting with Amelia Ear- hart during his years as a mall carrier and a member of the West Coast Air Mail society at-Oakland, Calif. He exhibited photos of her. her plane, and of her husband. He also showed clippings tak en from the Oakland papers at the time of her flight from Honolulu to San Francicso and others. For many years, Mr. Smith fought to have a stamp Issued honoring this women aviator without success, as did many of the stamp societies he be longed to. Finally oh Julyf 24,' 1D63, an 8 cent airmail stamp will be Issued to her honor, 26 years after her death. 1 During his talk Mr. Smith enumerated many of her ex ploits the first woman to ever fly the Atlantic, the first woman solo' flyer across the Atlantic, the first woman to solo from Honolulu to the States, and many others. Before the program the meeting guests attended an in door picnic, under the super vision of Mrs. Mabel Houck, refreshment chairman and her committee. Guests at the pic nic were Karen Nygren, Jerry Rich, jHmle Rich, Mrs. Wil liam L. White, Earl Chachere, Leslie Chachere, and Ralph Moore. During the business meet ing Mrs. Moore was elected Club secretary. A stamp auc tion was conducted by Mr. White. It was announced by Dr. W. B. Giles that the com mittee on SOPEX '63 would meet every other Monday night to conduct business in regard to the exhibition which will be held on September 21 and 22. Plans have been made to have some exhibits of spe cial interest from the United Nations and from Sues. The executive board meet ing will be held on Monday, July 15, at the home of Mrs. A. Sterton, 39 Summit avenue. The next meeting of the club will be on August 1. Relatives Are July Visitors Mrs. John M. Parsons, nadale, Va., is visiting father, Seth M. Bullis, An- j her and her aunt, Miss Helen Bullis, at 15 Florence avenue. I She Is accompanied by her daughters, Carolyn and Mary, and her son, Robert, and his friend, Glenn Furbish.
