Couple Tell Wedding Plans Wedding plans have been announced for Miss Dolores Carlene Barrel, Eugene, and Ervin Eugene Tipping of Port land, whose marriage is plan ned for Saturday, August 3 at 8 o'clock in the evening in Friendly Street Church of God, Eugene. The bride-elect, a daughter of Mrs. Laude A. Barrell, Eugene, taught American his tory and world history in the Medford High School from September, 1960 to June, 1963. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Tipping, Webster City, Iowa. He was employed with Copco division of Pacific Power and Light company in Medford before being transferred to Portland. WE WILL BE Engagement Announced Rogue River - Mr. and Mrs. Keith Palmerton, 375 Fielder lane, announce the engagement of their daugh ter, Miss Fayetta Louise Pal merton, to Arvid Peter Lew ison, son of Mr. and Mrs. Helmer Lewison, of Owaton na, Minn. Miss Palmerton, a graduate of Rogue River High school, is a junior at Southern Ore gon college. She is a member of Sigma Tau Sigma and the forensic team. Mr. Lewison was graduated from Owatonna High school and served in the Navy. He will attend an art advertising school in Portland in the fall. No date has been set for the wedding. Miss Fayetta Palmerton Georgia Relatives Guests in Prospect Prospect - Recent visitors from Macon, Ga., at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Deloy Gillespie were Mrs. Gillespie's parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Hardin and her brother, Jim mie, and sister, Claudia. Accompanying them waa s Mrs. Gillespie's aunt, Mrs. Betty Farr and cousin, Jan nice, also from Macon. Late Summer Rites Planned Ashland - A late summer wedding is planned by Miss Katherine Sanderson of Ten afly, N. J., and Walter F. Zwick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Irving A. Zwick, 3 Hillcrest street, Ashland. The engage ment was announced recently by Mr. and Mrs. Russell M. Sanderson, parents of the bride-to-be. Miss Sanderson was gradu ated last month from Smith college. Mr. Zwick will re ceive his degree next year from Dartmouth college. t Local Man Returns From Ohio Visit Paul R. Smith, 3411 Ma drona lane, returned recently from a ten day visit with his father in Toledo, Ohio. . Mr. Smith's father, who will be 83 next month, had not seen his son since 1959. ' Mr. Gray, a graduate of Mission Bay High school, San Diego, is employed at Queen of the .Valley hospital, West Covina. Miss Mason and her fiance, accompanied by his parents and brother, Larry Gifford. were recent houseguests at the Mason home. I Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Garth Johnson (Houitn photo) Episcopal Rites Held When Miss Nancy Anne Ticknor, Woodburn, became the bride of Gerald Garth Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Goldenpenny, 15 Van couver "avenue, she not only had her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold W. Ticknor, at the ceremony, but also her American Field Service mother, Mrs. Otto Schait, with whom she lived for a year in Zurich, Switzerland. The wedding was held June 29 at 2 o'clock in the after noon at St. Edward's Epis copal church In Silverton. The Rev. Everett Hall, Woodburn, officiated at the double ring rites attended by more than 300 guests. Mrs. Don Miller, Corvallis, played the organ wedding music and accompanied the Woodburn High school girls' trio, Miss Dora Ann Ostrom, Miss Lavonne Widmcr, and Miss Sandi Bcdwcll. Soloist was Professor Donald Gleck ler of Willamette university. Pirik and white gladioli dec orated the church. Wean Silk Organia Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor length gown of white silk nylon organza over taffeta. It was fashioned with fitted bodice accented with beaded sequins, scoop neckline and three-quarter length sleeves. The bodice and a front panel in the full skirt were of em broidery. The skirt formed a chapel train. Her French silk Illusion veil was held by a crown of seed pearls and crystals and she carried a bouquet of baby pink elf roses and stephanotis. Her heirloom point lace hand kerchief, which belonged to her great grandmother, had been carried by her mother at her wedding. Miss Shirley Timian, Cor vallis, was maid of honor. The other attendants were Mrs. John Ticknor, sister-in- law of the bride, and Mrs. Paul Nagel, both Portland, Miss Marlcne Grasscns, Hono lulu, Hawaii, cousin of the bride, and Miss Sandra Hunt, Woodburn. They wore pink embroid ered batiste sheath dresses with headdresses of pink roses and tulle and matching acces sories. They carried nosegay bouquets of pink and white daisies. Niece Is Flower Girl Miss Nikki Messer, Med ford, niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl. She wore a pink embroidered batiste frock and carried a white basket of pink rosebuds. Kent Parson, Salem, served as best man. Groomsmen were John Ticknor, Portland, bro ther of the bride; Terry Gray, Salem; Ronald Little, Madras, and Clinton Peterson, Maple- ton, . Acolytes were Douglas Aug ustus and Tom Wadsworth. For her daughter's wedding and reception which followed at St.' Mary's Parish hall in Woodburn, Mrs. Ticknor chose a pink embroidered silk sheath dress with matching accessories. Mrs. Goldenpenny wore a lavender brocade sheath dress with matching accessories. Their corsages were pink roses. The couple traveled to San Francisco on their wedding trip, the bride wearing a blue knit suit with matching hat, black patent leather acces , series, and a white orchid corsage. The bride is a graduate of ; Woodburn High school and at tended Oregon State univer I sity. She is employed as a OREGON bookkeeper at the Bank of Oregon. The bridegroom was graduated from Medford High school and Willamette univer sity where he was affiliated with Phi Delta Theta fratern ity. He is music instructor at the Woodburn Junior and Senior High schools. Among the out of town guests were Mr. Goldenpenny, Medford; Miss Heidi Schait, Zurich, Switzerland; Miss Blanche Brattin, Arlington, Va.; Mr. Foster, San Fran cisco; and William Wadley, Yakima, Wash., uncle of the bride. The evening prior to the wedding Miss Dorothy John son, Arlington, Va., was hostess for the rehearsal din ner held at the Marion hotel in Salem. It was attended by 42 relatives and friends. Dur ing the event the Woodburn High school girls' trio also sang; they are students of Mr. Johnson. Philip Hansen To Give Show Ashland Philip Hanson, well known West coast actor. will present a one man show, ine Kebels" Tuesday, July 16, at 2 p.m. in Churchill hall auditorium on the South ern Oregon college campus. The first half o the Han son show is devoted to the patriots, who created Ameri cas form of government. "They are called patriots now," Mr. Hanson says, "but they were rebels In 1776." Mr. Hanson's performance of famous historic speeches includes Patrick Henry's fiery "Give me liberty, or give me death, and the com ments of John Adams, Thom- Jcffcrson, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Paine. The humor expressed by famous patriots will also be featured in "The Rebels" to gether with Longfellow's well known poem, "Paul Re vere s Ride."
