Dale Franklin of Franklin's Transfer and Storage, de nies this, slating that not only was proper notifica tion given by registered mail and publication, but that the owner was present in town at th lime of th sale. The Mail Tribune re grets the publication of the erroneous letter. God Counts His People To the Editor: In our Amer ican way of life, the privilege of being counted in our churches is a wonderful thing, s freedom that we Christians can give thanks for. This freedom is not the came in many countries, es pecially Communist countries, and certain restrictions deny the Christian worship of God and Jesus Christ. The Christians in the United States are aware of the Satan ic movements of decisions to eliminate Godly doctrine that has earmarked us in the U.S., as leaning to God and resits Christ, is ' being removed by atheists and agnostics pressing for legality to bear in their favor. So then Christianity takes its place of being ruled out of gains made by atheists and others of that similtude that will move into the space vacated by conditions left open. Will the fathers of our government like this? Will further encroachments by this same group change the Godly part of our American life? Also the growing movement of printshop religion, door bell ringers circulating cheap copy, finding and pressing new re cruits into this type of a lead er movement that in nowise is the will of God, but a means of denying and attempting to destroy Christendom, to use their own jargon. The people on earth belong to God, and the means of their salvation comes by Jesus Christ, to be redeemed by His blood, who died for all to pay the price of redemption, leaving the way of coming to God clear if people will just accept God's grace offer. So isn't it much better to accept God's offer and His plan, instead of going down the drain? Oscar Jacobson 3395 New Ray rd. Central Point, Ore. Questions To the Editor: Gosh Folks, why all the "pessimism?" Did you get outta bed on the wrong side, and where did you find all the big words to use? Is the war talk and the price of sweets getting your goats? "Cheer up, the worst is yet to come" (unquote). I heard that somewhere; it's no thought of mine. I'm going to whistle and hum (I can't call it "sing ing") as long as I've breath to blow up my new air mattress. You go fishing, too. It's the real way of vacationing. I love the way some of you darlings spell my name. Pearl Spackman, Jacksonville, Ore. Talk Turkey To the Editor: When Ken nedy and Khrushchev get theyah telephone line con nected, they can spend theyah time talking cold turkey ovah a hot wiyah. As always, we'll furnish the turkey and pay all the telephone bills. Everett Acklin Ashland, Ore. Saxon To the Editor: On page 2A, column 4, Tuesday's Mai( Tribune, the Old Timers club who will lead the July 4 pa rade at Ashland in a restored 1915 "Sexton" car. We never heard of one, al though there was a car called a Saxon about that era and year of vintage. An Old Rcsidenter, Name on File, Medford Woman's Dilemma To the Editor: And God said unto the woman, in sor row thou shall bring forth children and thy desire shall be to thy husband and he shall rule over thee. (Gen. 4:16.) So, according to nature's (God's) law, woman was as signed to obey her husband and, when this law is follow ed, the marriage can be a suc cess, if the man can rule the roost and the woman can obey. Occasionally, perhaps one in 20 marriages, the woman is the boss, which shows a reversal of the law. In certain social branches, science, arts and inventions, the woman lags far behind the man, and the reason for it is that very decree God made when he created man and woman and consigned her to the kitchen and the cookstove. Man develops his talents and brain power at the rate and along the lines of work he follows. He begets part of his skill and training to his offspring. That is usually, father to son, mother to daughter. In the old country where I grew up just before the turn of the century, it was common usage among craftsmen that the son follow in his father's footsteps. This custom had been followed for hundreds of years and during the guilds in medieval times. However this has changed since the machines came into use. But it does not alter the fact that during the million or more years since man's creation the male has devel oped a greater capacity to do creative work entirely dif ferent from woman's work. This is not in any way derogatory against her. It is just God s law. He made it so, A woman who is a comfort to her mate is an invaluable prize, a wonderful master piece of God's creation. i The woman in these mod- em times who is married to a good provider is under a great handicap. She is not 1 supposed to work. Her kitch en and housework, if she is I capable, takes a couple of hours a day. And a law says "An idle mind is the Devil's workshop." How to solve the dilemma? Try physical exercise, read and get wise, try the simple life. John E. Ring, 1049 West 11th st., Medford Right of Privacy To the Editor: I noticed an item in this (Thursday) eve ning's paper referring to a re port given to the Medford City Police by myself concerning a sum of money taken from my'wallet. After completely losing my temper, I called the police sta tion and was informed by a very polite and pleasant po licewoman that they have no control over what any paper chooses to print about their activities. This is something called "Freedom of the Press" which usually means only, the loss in privacy of the individual. No wonder the image the public holds of the policeman is someone called to herald a thing of violence. The press is denying us the right to call on our police for the little every day things. Mrs. Ann Hamilton 905 Grants St. Medford Gold Ownership To the Editor: Recently I wrote a letter asking why the secrecy about a Federal Court ruling legalizing the private Poets' Corner Conducted by Arnold Eugene Jenny On the Grasshopper and Cricket The poetry of earth is never dead; When all the birds are faint with the hot sun, And hide in cooling trees, a voice will run From hedge to hedge about the new-mown mead. That is the grasshopper's he takes the lead In summer luxury he has never done With his delights, for when tired out with fun, He rests at ease beneath some pleasant weed. The poetry of earth is ceasing never: On a lone winter evening, when the frost Has wrought a silence, from the stove there shrills The cricket's song, in warmth increasing ever, And seems to one, in drowsiness half-lost, The grasshopper's among some grassy hills. John Keats O To John Keats "Keen fitful gusts are whispering" once again I sit and hear the quickened step of Night Slip softly through my door. My lamp burns bright, But shadows drift across my back, for when I read, I seek the silent path that then Keats walked with Petrarch by his side. Her light Glows faintly in the sky, and Laura's knight Returns. Now Milton stalks from darkened den, His spirit set as Aeginctan stone, And seeks to light my way and lead me out, But whispering gusts become the only sound To reach my ears again I am alone. ownership of gold in this country. You stated you had not heard about it-nor had the U.S. Secret Service office in Portland. May I suggest that for ver ification of my letter, you con tact Judge Mathcs of the Fed eral Court of the southern dis trict of Calif., Los Angeles, who rendered this decision on August 16, 1962. It is interesting to note that Bobby Kennedy's Justice De partment began an appeal of this decision and then dropped the appeal. It would still be Interesting to know-why the silence? M. J. Olscn Rt. 4, Box 325 Medford O Editor's note: See comment in editorial column. A 5 What hour, what place, upon what lonely route win our paths cross, Prometheus Unbound? Lloyd B. Halverson ( Medford o Incompatibility We're cabined here within our innate selves Two beings Isolate as magnet's poles Close locked with atom's charge through double helves, Our bodies' beings and our bodies' souls. Or as two posts built into fence we share A common rail which makes us what we are, Two points in space with simple duties there, To stand, decay, at last let fall the bar. For we to one another cannot tell, Though linked within these bonds, our souls' desire, And we, like magnet's poles, like posts, must dwell Within our selves, possess no mutual fire. W. Arthur Boggs Oswego, Ore. From the author's "Odysseus and Other Poems," by per mission. Originally published in Blue Guitar. O A Rose Without Thorn Science and man have found a rose Without a thorn; Perfection rare it seems to be. This flower newborn. For me, life's lesson from that rose Has passed away; God has not meant that we should be Forever gay.
