JULY 7, 1SS3 , ' - ''I Mrs. Richard Arthur Soranson (Dart photo) Miss Pumfrey Bride Of Richard Sorenson At home in Beaverton, Ore., are Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ar thur Sorenson, who have re turned from a wedding trip to Canada. Their wedding was held recently at Mount Ta b o r Presbyterian church, Portland. Mrs. Sorenson is the for mer Virginia Marie Pumfrey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas B. Pumfrey, Portland. Mr. Sorenson's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Ray Sorenson, 16 North Barneburg avenue. Dr. Robert K. Russell of ficiated at the two o'clock afternoon rites held June 8. Green, lavender and blue flowers decorated the church. The bride attended Frank lin High school and is a grad uate of the University of Ore gon where she was affiliated with Kappa Alpha Theta sor ority. She is an elementary French teacher with the Bea verton School district. Mr. Sorenson, a graduate of Medford High school and the University of Oregon, is employed by the United States National bank. He is affiliated with Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity of which he was president. The bride wore a while peau de soie gown for her wedding fashioned with scoop neckline, elbow length sleeves and Alencon lace appliques on the skirt. Her veil was fingertip length and she car ried a bouquet of stephanotis and butterfly orchids. Mrs. Charles Albert Hoff, Portland, was matron of hon or. Other attendants were Mrs. James Nichols Anderson, Portland, Mrs. Richard Carvil Matthews, Portland, and Miss Janice Nakata, San Francis co. They wore frocks of pale turquoise and carried bou quets of blue, lavender and green flowers. James Nichols Anderson Portland, served as best man Seating the guests were Charles Albert Hoff, Port land, Norman Green, Sacra mento, Calif., and David Sor enson, Medford, brother of the bridegroom. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Laurelhurst club. Assisting with the serving were the Misses Ann Strachan, Bonnie Bachelder, Liz Dezendorf, all Portland, and Miss Dianne Greenshiclds, Palo Alto, Cal if., all sorority sisters of the bride; Miss Jan Hansen, Portland, and Mrs. Larry Spriggs, Beaverton. Mrs. Gerald Matioda, Port land, was in charge of the guest book. The evening prior to the wedding a rehearsal dinner was held by the parents of the bridegroom aboard the River Queen, centennial fer ry on the Willamette river. Anniversary Observed At Open House Air. and Mrs. Dan Haas were honored June 29 at an open house which observed their twenty-fifth wedding an-niversary. The event, In the form of a surprise, was given by their children, Victor, Charles, Jer ome, Mrs. Leonard Settel and Mrs. Charles Johnson. About 60 guests called on the honored couple during the afternoon event which was held in their home at 1006 Niantic street. Decorations for the occas ion were pink gladioli. The family members pre sented the couple a silver tea set. Mrs. Max Weston baked and decorated the wedding cake. The couple was married July 3, 1938 in Roseburg, Ore. They have resided here since that time. For the open house Mrs. Haas wore a chocolate brown dress and her corsage was of pink rosebuds. Bob Wright, class of 1956. is chairman of the event at which alumni of the golden anniversary class will be guests of honor. A 7:30 p.m. dinner is planned with part of the ticket price to pay as sociation dues. Lake Creek Women Set Coffee Event Lake Creek - The members of Lake Creek Home Exten sion unit plan a kaffeeklatsch for Wednesday, July 10 at 1 p.m., in the home of Mrs. Fred Osterman. .
