Estes, 109 Foss road, Tal ent, were honored at an open house Sunday, June 30, in eel' cbration of their golden wed' dine anniversary. The event was held at their home. Hosts for the open house were their daughter and son' in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Sommer, Talent. Arrangements of gold flow ers and candles decorated the home. Among the gifts was a gold money tree. An anniversary cake was made, decorated and served by Mrs. Leon Lockwood, Tal ent. Serving coffee was Mrs. Leroy Welch, Central Point, and presiding at the punch bowl was Mrs. George Cluck, Roseburg, a close friend of the family. Miss Linda Sommer, a granddaughter, and Mrs. Dean Sommer, a granddaughter-ln-law, were in charge of the gifts and Mrs. Everett Culver, Talent, was In charge of the guest book. Among the guests were the honored couple's great-grand son, Gary Sommer and their grandson, Dean Sommer. Olh er guests included a brother and sister-in-law of Mrs. Estes, Mr. and Mrs. Arlct J. Smith, two nieces and husbitnds, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stevens and Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Smith, all of Giendale, Ore., and a broth' er and sister-in-law of Mr Estes, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Estes. utner out of town guests were Mr. Cluck. Rosebura. and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hoae- iana, Klamath Falls. Mrs. Hoagland is a niece of Mrs. Estes. . For the event Mrs. Estes wore an aquamarine and white nylon frock over taffeta and a corsage of a gold cym- Diaium orcnid. Mrs. Estes, the former Alta Smith, became the bride of Archie Estes on July 2, 1813 in Jacksonville. They were married on Mrs: Estes' birth day, and have lived the past 35 years in the Talent area, having moved here from Gold Hill. Gerald Mattern, Grants Pass, was best man and ushers were Frank A. Terry, Butte Falls, and Eugene Henshaw, Portland. The ring bearer was the bride s nephew, Bruce Marsh Mrs. Richard Lindner was the soloist accompanied by Mrs. William Burton. . At i the reception, Mrs. Charles Terry poured the cof- fcet and punch and Mrs. Douglas Fuller cut and served the cake. Mrs. Frank Terry and Mrs. Paul Methner were at the gift table and Miss Millie Baue, Mrs. Richard Humphrey, and Mrs. Robert Huntley registered the guests. After a trip to Vancouver, B. C, the couple will make their home in Butte Falls. The bride is a graduate of Beaverton High school and the bridegroom was graduated from Butte Falls High school cently in Beaverton when Miss Diana Jean McDonald became the bride of Bruce Edward Pingle Jr. The two o'clock afternoon wedding was performed by the Rev. G. H. Wright in the Southminster United Presby tcrian church, June 30. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Sluyter of that city and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Pingle, Butte Falls, are the parents of the bridegroom. Mr. Sluyter escorted his stepdaughter to the altar and gave her in marriage. The bride wore a ballerina length white organza dress over taffeta accented with em broidery down the front. It was fashioned with three quarter length sleeves and scoop neck. Her shoulder veil was held by a pearl crown and she carried a bouquet of roses and stephanotis. Her sister, Miss Laurie Mc Donald, was maid of honor, and another sister, Miss Su san Sluyter, was junior brides- He is employed by Mcdford maid. Imu ik l tliil'ikitAiE Central Point - Miss Sharon Louise Thompson became the bride of Donald Ray Pfaff in a candlelight ceremony in the Central Point Community Bi ble church, June 28, at eight o'clock In the evening. The Rev. Paul O. Kroon officiated at the double ring rites attended by about 250 relatives and friends. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell D. Thompson, Route 1, Box 13. Mr. Pfaff is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pfaff, 647 Laurel street. Miss Darlene Thompson, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Mrs. William Jeskey and Mrs. Paul Evers were bridesmatrons and Miss Carol Wilcox was bridesmaid. Douglas Pfaff, twin brother of the bridegroom, was best man, and groomsmen were Dennis Pfaff, another brother, Ray Konopasek, a cousin, and Jerry Anderson. Ushers were William Jeskey, William and Jeffrey Anhorn, his cousins, and Paul Evers. Candlelighters were Miss Pamela Martin and Miss Jo anne Hill. Mr. Thompson escorted his daughter to the altar and she was given in marriage by her parents. The bride wore a floor length gown of brocad ed satin fashioned with a sweetheart neckline, fitted bodice and chapel train. Her shoulder length veil of nylon Illusion was held by a rose of brocaded satin and trimmed with seed pearls. She wore a diamond and pearl necklace, a gift from the bridegroom. The bridal bouquet was a cas cade of white carnations en circling a white orchid. The bride's attendants wore street length dresses of match ing pink brocaded satin fash ioned with fitted bodices, sweetheart necklines, and short sleeves. Their head pieces were fashioned as the bride's with float veils. The maid of honor carried a colo nial nosegay of white carna tions and the other attendants carried pink carnations. The candlelighters' dresses were Identical to the bridesmaids and they wore pink flower wristlets. Baskets of white gladioli decorated the church and lighted candles and white bows with pink gladioli mark ed the pew ends. Organist was Mrs. Kroon and soloists were Jerry Hold ridge, Mcdford and Miss Dora Mueda, Sacramento, Calif. The bride's mother wore a blue silk print dress with blue mohair jacket, matching feath er hat and white accessories. Mrs. Pfaff chose a beige linen dress with matching accesso ries. Both had white orchid corsages. The bride's parents were j hosts for the reception in the church s youth fellowship hall following the ceremony. The hall was decorated with white bells and doves, and pink and white streamers. The wedding cake, baked and decorated by Mrs. Ralph Burkhart, was cut and served by Mrs. Roycc M. Smith, Ventura, Calif., an aunt of the bride, assisted by Mrs. Wilson Smith, Mcdford. Presiding at the punch bowl was another aunt of the bride. Mrs. Lester Eyres, Monterey Park, Calif., and pouring cof fee was Mis. Frank Konopa sek, Mcdford, an aunt of the bridegroom. Miss Cheryl Pfaff, sister of the bride groom, and Miss Betty Mc Ivor were at the gift table. Miss Pfaff was in charge of the guest book. Miss Janet, Pfaff, another sister of the bridegroom, distributed wed ding programs. Mrs. Gladys Long and Mrs. John Champ assisted at the reception and Mrs. Lester Wil cox decorated the church. Ricky and Darrell S 11 1 1 h. cousins of the bride, distribut ed packages of rice. The newlyweds traveled to San Francisco and Los Ange les on their wedding trip and will return July 8. The bride's traveling attire was a checked navy blue and white raw silk suit with white accessories. She wore a white orchid cor sage. Among out of town guests attending were the bride's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Percy A. Scobie, Eagle Point; Mr. and Mrs. Royce M, Smith and Robert, David, Ricky and Darrell, Ventura, Calif., uncle, aunt and cousins of the bride; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Evrps' Monterey Park, Calif., uncle and aunt of the bride; Mrs. aiewan Kienards, Ferndale, Calif., and James Keeney, Sah Francisco. The bride is a sraduatp nf Crater High school and is em ployed by School District 6 as a secretary. The bridegroom was graduated from Crater High school and is employed by Carolina-Pacific Plywood as a tape machine operator. The couple will reside in Central Point. The evening prior to the wedding Mr. and Mrs. Pfaff were hosts for a buffet supper preceding the wedding re hearsal. Some 32 persons attended. Auxiliary Activities Are Listed Officers of the auxiliary to I man; Mrs. Mary Parker, leg-jgaret Eal Crater Lake post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, who had not previously been installed, took their officers during the July 2 meeting of the group. In cluded were Mrs. Ray Law less, assistant conductress, and Mrs. Lulu Sturgill and Mrs. Anna Lund, flag and banner bearers. Named as chairman for the post were Mrs. Russell John son for Civil defense; Mrs. Jack Brummond, essay chair- islative chairman; Mrs. Ivan Lusk for the Veterans Domi ciliary, and Mrs. O. O. De Barry, publicity, scrap book and cancer chairman. Other chairmen are Mrs. Ralph Pittock, entertainment; Mrs. Fred Lawrence, poppy chairman; and Mrs. Russell Zundel, her assistant; Mrs. Lester Carl, sewing chairman, and Mrs. Edith Helm, her assistant; Mrs. Richard Schulz, rehabilitation, and Mrs. Mar- Senior Activities Are Announced Members of the Senior Ac tivity Center art classes and o r c h e stra participated in events at the recent Rogue River Rooster crow contest activities. More than 25 paint ings, as well as mosaic and copper work also were shown in the art exhibit. The paint ing class and orchestra mem bers received plaques from the committee. The composite paint i n g, 'Mirage" done by members of the center, will be on exhibit during the Southern Oregon Society of Artists Greenwich Village show Saturday, July 13 in Medford Library park. Ash land will show colored slides at the Monday, July 8 meet ing of the Arm Chair Travel group, at l p.m. The scenes were taken by Mr. and Mrs. Strothers on a coast to coast motor trip from which they have recently returned. Slides of rocks shown last week by Chester Fitch are to be shown again and art class members at the center Dlan to use some as subjects for abstract paintings. The orchestra members will meet this week on Thursday. New Haven, Conn., left last week for Portland after vis iting his mother, Mrs. G. R. Carter, 821 East Jackson street, and his brother, Rob ert R. Carter, Talent. After visiting friends in Portland they will continue to New Haven. which are scheduled for the summer are asked to watch for announcements for the resumption of these activities. Center committee members are interested in locating volunteers to lead the senior center singing group so that weekly Sunday sessions may get under way. Eakin, youth program. Mrs. Lawrence also heads tha membership committee. Reports of the recent forty second annual department convention in Mc Minnvilla were given by Mrs, Ramsey and Mrs. Ben Allison. There will be a hospital day for auxiliary member's at tha Domiciliary, Friday, July 12, followed by a cookout at tho picnic area, July 25. The next business meeting will be held August 20 and regular meet ings will resume in the fall. Mrs. John E. Clay and Mrs. Arthur Davies, Jacksonville, joined the group.
