JUNE II. 1M Mr. end Mrs. James Don Price Price-McCulley Service Held in Montague Church Montague Miss Sheron Rose McCuIley became the bride of James Don Price in a double-ring ceremony read June 1 at 7:30 o'clock in the evening at the First Southern Baptist church in Montague. The Rev. Elmer Adams offi ciated. The bride is the daughter ot Mr. and Mrs. Willie Mc CuIley, Montague. The bride groom is a resident of Horn brook. Miss Rose Ann Tanner, Montague, was the brides maid. Michael O'Connor, uncle of the bride from Dana, served as best man. Ushers were Nathan M c C u 11 e y, brother of the bride, and James Winkle. The bride, given in mar riage by her father, wore a street length dress of white Chantilly lace over taffeta with a wide chiffon cummer bund. Her short veil was held from a velvet band and she carried a white carna tion nosegay. Her single pearl necklace was the "something borrowed", it be ing a prized possession of her maternal grandmother, Mrs. lone Graham, Hornbrook. The bridesmaid wore a light blue organza frock over taffeta with a hat to match and carried pink carnations. Baskets of mixed garden flowers in shades of blue, pink and white decorated the church. Mrs. William Bert ram was the pianist and Mrs. Eddy Conner the soloist. The reception given by the bride's parents was held in the church rooms, decorated In white and pink. Mrs. H. V. Russell cut and served the cake, assisted by Miss Mary Schalz. Punch was poured by Miss Diane Aubrey and Miss Betty Offield. For her daughter's wedding the bride's mother wore a light pink suit with a print blouse and a pink flower hat. Her rosebud corsage was in a deeper shade of pink. For a bit of gaiety the bride was taken for a ride in a garden cart pushed by her bridegroom along the streets of Montague, before they de parted for Hornbrook where they are making their home. The bridegroom is employed in Yreka. Out-of-town guests includ ed Mr. and Mrs. Jack O'Con nor, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Spalding and family, Allen Spalding, Dale Spalding and Dale Knapp all of Dana; Mr. and Mrs. Adrian McCuIley, Fall River Mills; Mrs. Leo nard Amore, Castella; Mrs. Michael Schalz and daughter Mary, Fort Jones; and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bradley and family. Gazelle. Eurekans Visit In Hornbrook Hornbrook Mr. and Mrs. Frank Burkhart and two of their three children spent four days here this week as guests of her mother, Mrs. George Sloan. The Burkharts arrived on Monday from Stockton, Calif., where they had been visiting Mrs. Burk hart s twin sister and her fam- ily, Mr. . and Mrs. Vincent Balbt and two children. They left Thursday to return to their home in Eureka, Calif. Marriage Of Interest n Valley Of interest here is news of the marriage of Miss Janice Darragh and Gregory Moore which was an event ot June 8 in Burlingame, Calif. The 12 o'clock noon nuptial mass was celebrated and the wed ding ceremony performed by the Rev. James Ward at St. Catherine's church. The bride is a daughter ot Mr. and Mrs. John Darragh, Burlingame, and the bride groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Moore, 1449 Jas per street, Medford. Miss Molly Buckley, Port land, was the maid of honor. Miss Sue Schechtel, Oswego, and Miss Lorene Deans, Wood land, Wash., were brides maids. Junior bridesmaid was Shelley Moore, sister of the bridegroom. Michael Moore, brother of the bridegroom, served as best man, and Jack Darragh, a brother of the bride, and Ron Spocone, were ushers. Mr. Darragh escorted his daughter to the altar. Her lone gown was of silk organza appliqued with lilies of the valley at the hemline, and de signed with scoop neckline and short sleeves. She car ried lilies of the valley. The attendants wore sheath dresses of yellow chiffon over taffeta and their headpieces were crowns of daisies with clusters of ivy. They carried baskets of daisies. The bride's parents gave a garden reception at Stanford Newman center. The couple will live in Portland where the bride is a teacher in the Portland Public school system. The bridegroom is associated with the United States National bank. Both the bride and bride groom attended the Univer sity of Portland. Jo, . lS"Cv Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Moore (Matchetie-Heritaga) Newlyweds Return Home From California Trip Hornbrook Couple Leaves for Trip Hornbrook Visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bear and son, Leonard, are Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Campbell and three sons of Sepul' tda, Calif. On Monday, Mr. and Mrs. Bear left with their house-trailer for a three-months tour ot the middle west and on into east ern Canada. They plan to attend the Wally Byam Caravan club's sixth international rally to be held at Bemidjl, Minn., June 30 through July 5. Aust- bo, whose marriage was a re cent event in Meeker chapel of First Methodist church, traveled to San Francisco and the Monterey peninsula in California for their wedding trip. They now are living at 1116 South Holly street. The bride, the former Julia E. Sanford, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orner Haugen, 1796 Thomas road. The bride groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Olav G. Austbo ot Red wood Falls, Minn., who came west for the ceremony. Dr. George Roseberry read the 2 o'clock afternoon rites May 18. Mrs. Bobbie L. Bills was the honor attendant. Allen Prigge came from Eu gene to act as best man, and Howard Haugen, a brother of the' bride, and Craig Smith, seated the guests. Wears Blue Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a light blue silk jacket dress with three-auarter length sleeves Her head piece was a bow of matching material which held her short white tulle veil. She carried a cascade bouquet of white carnations with a white orchid. The matron of honor wore a light pink frock which was Cebu Swamp Session Held In Grants Pass A number of Medford per sons were in Grants Pass to to attend a recent meeting of Cebu swamp, Military Order of Lizards, United Spanish War Veterans held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Florenz Breltemeyer. Among those from here were Mr. and Mrs. James VanderStecn, Mrs. Bertha Nelson, Mrs. Polly Offutt, Mrs. Arthur Gillmore and daughter, Carol; Mrs. Harry Barneburg and Mrs. Don An derson. Mrs. Vandcrsteen, g i 1 a monster for the swamp, pre sided. Mrs. Breitemeycr, grand gila monster, spoke of the coming state convocation to be held in Eugene. Guests included Mrs. Harry Williams, Portland, depart ment secretary, who was in troduced and presented a cor sage by Mrs. Anderson. Mrs. Henry Aliche, Saudi Arabia; Derwood Falrchild. Rogue River camp; Tom Thomas, Renne Grosh, Rob- ! ert Carter and Mr. Breitemey cr also were introduced as guests. Those who have birth days in June were honored including Mrs. Walter Sweet land, Mrs. Barneburg, Mrs. Williams and Mr. Thomas. Mrs. Effie Scarles, Grants Pass, a member of Rogue River auxiliary, was initiated into the swamp. Members voted to form a kitchen band, for which Mrs. Offutt will be conductor. The next meeting of the wamp will be held in July in the home of Mrs. Ander son, 803 Pine street, Medford. Teacher Is Guest In Prospect Home Prospect-Clarence Neville a teacher at Hood River, ii a guest at the home of his par (:iu, Mr. and Mrs. David Neville. He plans to be here for two weeks and will leave tor Corvallis to attend the summer session at Oregon State university. Mr. and Mrs. Kermll Neville and daughter, Jo Anna, Roscburg, were week end guests at the David Nevilles. Some 100 guests attended the ceremony and about 73 attended the reception given by the bride's parents in the church reception room. Mrs. Robert Hostetter served the coffee while Mrs. Verne Wilson cut and served the cake assisted by Mrs. Jerry Hall, a s 1 s t e r of the bridegroom from South St. Paul, Minn. Mrs. Donald Stratford presided at the punch bowl and Miss Joann Davenport had charge of the guest book. The bride attended Everett Junior college, Everett, Wash and the bridegroom attended the University of Minnesota He is employed by the depart' ment of interior as a forester for the bureau ot land man' agement. Haugen and son, Rob ert Haugen, Seattle, relatives of the bride, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Moore and son, John Moore, Vancouver, Wash., Mrs. Abble Robbins, formerly of Redwood Falls, Minn., also was a guest. Newlyweds Now Home After Trip Mr. and Mrs. Richard D. Moore will be at home June 16 at 473 North Ross lane. following their return from a wedding trip to San Francis co and Lake Tahoe. Mrs. Moore is the former Winifred M. Weixel. 437 North Ross lane, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rickard, Hope, N.D. She is the owner and operator of the Country House ot Beauty in Medford. Mr. Moore, 210 West Third street. Is a son ot Mr. and Mrs. Paul C. Moore, Wellsville, Ohio. He is an accountant with Lewis Accounting here. Eston Catlett officiated at the June 7 wedding held at the Church of Christ, Court street, at eight o'clock in the evening. Some 20 relatives and friends attended. The bride wore a pale green raw silk sheath dress with matching picture hat and tangerine colored acces sories. She carried a single long stemmed yellow rose. Mrs. William Totten attend ed the bride. She wore a printed jersey sheath dress and carried - a nosegay of green carnations. Donald Ha gle served as best man. For traveling the bride wore a cocoa brown two piece suit with tangerine accessor ies. The bride attended Hope, N.D., High school and the New York Halrdrcssing Acad emy In Fargo, N.D. Mr. Moore attended Wellsville, Ohio, schools. Representative To Be Honored The Eleanor R o o s v 1 1 League will hold summer social evening and "welcome home" party tor State Repre sentative and Mrs. James A. Redden at the home ot Mr, and Mrs. Mark Norton, Hil singer road, Phoenix Thurs day, June 20. The event will be at 7:30 p.m. according to Mrs. Frank Christian, president. Members of the league and their husbands and friends are invited to attend and par ticipate in the evning s fes tivities, she said. Guests are kked to bring a potluck dish and supper will be served buffet style. Reports and sidelights on the recently concluded legis lative assembly will be given by both Mr. and Mrs. Red' den and the evening will be devoted to "visiting and Inv promptu entertainment" she xplalned. The visitors left Wednesday to re turn to Idaho. Gold Hill Plans were made by Amethyst Rebekali lodge members during the last session to attend Friendship night at Ruth Rebekah lodge In Jacksonville Monday, June 17. Reports In conjunction with fund raising events for which all profits went to the IOOF building fund were made by Mrs. Raymond Thompson and Mrs. Paul Mo Hoy. Mrs. Thompson raid a benefit dance on June 1 resulted in $70.71 and Mrs. Molloy said $120 was raised by a rummage sale. Mrs. McLean, who recently attended the Rebekah assem bly ot Oregon at The Dalles with the noble grand, Mrs. Al bert Gascon, gave a report. Mrs. Raymond Thompson also attended assembly. Next meeting of local lodge will be held at the home ot Mrs. Raymond Thompson, Wednesday, June 19 at 8 p. m. This will be the tlnal meeting until September Mra. Eighty-Fourth Birthday Observed in Hornbrook Hornbrook One ot Horn- brook's elder residents, Mrs. ZeU Elmore, observed her 84th birthday recently at a gathering of relatives and friends at a lawn party at the home here of a sot. and daugh ter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ar don Burns. Guests were a sister, Mrs. Evva Gandy ot Eugene, Ore., Mrs. Myrtle Grubb, also Eugene, who is a tormer Hornbrook school teacher; Mr. and Mrs. Harry dejarnett. Talent, Ore.; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Greene and daughters Linda and Lydia, Ashland, Ore.; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Spearln and two sons, Ander son, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dilley and four sons, Yreka; and another son rnd daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Burns, Hornbrook. Another sister ot Mrs. El more and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Eston Henderson of Orovllle, Calif., called on her. Is Oreooniaa The former ZeU Tyrrell was born near Butte Falls, Ore. on May 28, 1879. She has lived In the Hornbrook area since she was a small child, Her first husband, Scott Burns, and her father were killed when a train struck their horse and buggy at a railroad crossing near their ranch home north of Horn brook when her son Floyd was 14 months old. Three years later she was married to Archie Elmore, who died several years ago. Since then, Mrs. Elmore has lived alone in their home. She plants and tends her own vegetable gar den and cans the produce. She also raises her own chickens, but had to relinquish her two milk goats when they became too friendly and frisky. Her hobbles are playing her old-fashioned square piano. singing, and on occasion, writ ing poetry. She Is an elocu tlonlst ot the old school, and her recitations are always the highlights of local church pro grams. She is a member of the Hornbrook Methodist church, and of Its Christian Women Community Fellowship. Sojourners Club Conducts Nominations Medford Sojourners Club nominated officers at a meet ing held last week in the Girls Community club. A new member at the meeting wa Mrs. John Watson.
