PEO Convention To Draw Many From Medford A large delegation of PEO bisterhood members from this rea will be in Portland June 17 through 19 to attend the annual state convention of the ..aicriiooa to be held on the campus of Lewis and Clark college. Included will be three state officers, Mrs. E. L. OREGON s Linda Colleen Hadden Happy Camp Pair Engaged Happy Camp-Mr. and Mrs. Aral Hadden, Happy Camp, have announced the engage ment of their daughter, Lin da Colleen, to Frank Rose, also Happy Camp. ; Mr. Rose is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Thom as, Happy Camp. Miss Hadden was graduat ed from Happy Camp High school in the recent ceremo nies for the class of 1963, and her fiance was graduated with the class of 1962. A late summer wedding is planned by the couple; the ceremony will be held . in Happy Camp. Mr. and Mn. Curtis Val Womtlsdorf (Knacktiedi photo) Miss Aeschliman Bride Of Curtis Womelsdorf Miss Karen Joann Aeschli man became the bride of Cur tis Vale Womelsdorf in 3 o'clock afternoon rites read June 8 in the Medford First Church of Nazarene. The Rev. Harold Sanner performed the ceremony. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Aeschli man, 429 Benson street, and the bridegroom's parents are Mrs. Evelyn Womelsdorf, Dia mond lake, and Russell Wom elsdorf, Ridgeficld, Wash. The bridegroom's parents and his sister had been mar ried in the same church. Miss Barbara Aeschliman was maid of honor for her sister and bridesmaids were the Misses Willajo Mills, Jo ann Holmes and Laurene Kel low. Terry Minter, a niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl. The bridegroom's brother, John Womelsdorf, served as best man. Seating the guests were Jerry Gaines and Terry Simmons, cousins of the bridegroom, and Clarence Johnson, his uncle. The skirt was styled of lace and net with tiered front. Her bouquet was a white orchid with yellow roses. A pill box hat held her elbow length veil. The attendants wore match ing pale lavender satin sheath dresses with lavender chiffon overskirts, and their veils wete similar to that worn by the bride. They carried rings of marguerite daisies. The church was decorated with yellow and white gladio lus and white bows marked the pew end. Wedding songs were sung by Mrs. Millie Lin dell and Melvin Johnson. The reception, given by the bride's parents, was held in the church annex. Mrs. Melvin Johnson had charge of ar rangements and wedding cake had been made by the bride's mother. Mrs. W. O. Beard cut and served the cake and Mrs. Gail Corbett poured the coffee. Mrs. Melvin Johnson presided at the punch bowl while Miss Deena Beard registered the guests. In charge of the gift table were Mrs. Clarence Johnson and Miss Donna Johnson. For her daughter's wedding and reception, Mrs. Aeschli man wore a blue lace frock with matching hat and white accessories. The bridegroom's mother was dressed in beige lace with brown accessories. Both wore corsages of Cecile Brunner roses. 100 si Reception About 100 guests attended the reception and some 150 were at the wedding cere mony. The couple made a wedding trip to Crescent City and San Francisco, Calif. They are to return this week and will live at 4523 Table Rock road. The bride, before her mar riage, was employed at Rogue Valley Manor, and also was a dental assistant for Dr. F. L. Mellish. She attended Med ford High school and South ern Oregon college. The bride groom attended both Medford and Crater High schools. He is employed by Cascade Wood products. The bride's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. O. G. Dohe trav eled from Omaha, Nebr., to attend the wedding and her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Gail Corbett, and family, were here from Los Angeles. . Nile Socio Plans Made Final plans have been com pleted for the first social luncheon in this area for members of Zulcima temple, Daughters of the Nile, set for Monday, June 17. The no hostess event is to be held in the Medford hotel at 12:30 p. m. Cards will be played during the afternoon. Members from Ashland, Grants Pass and Medford are expected to attend. It is the plan that :uch events will be held each month beginning in the fall and this possibility will be discussed during the Monday meeting. Those who attend should take their own cards. Roberts-Byrd Ceremony Held in Ashland Church SUNDAY. JUNE It. 1983 Ashland-Miss Joan Cynthia Byrd became the bride of Claude Harrison Roberts ' in a double ring ceremony read June 1 in the Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. E. E. Crawford performed the rites at 1:30 o'clock in the after noon. About 250 guests at tended. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allen R. Byrd, 782 Park street, Ashland, and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Rob erts, Glide, Ore. Mrs. William C. Willits, Mc Kinleyvillc, Calif., a sister of the bride, was matron of hon or. Cousins of the bride, Miss Viola Hartwell and Miss Mar cia Riddle, both Ashland, were bridesmaids. Junior bridesmaid was Miss Nancy Byrd, another sister. Miss Becky Fowler, and Noble Fowler, both of Colton, Calif., and both cousins of the bride, carried the rings. Dean Simpson, Glide, was best man, and groomsmen were Charles Wilde and Rollo Damewood, both Glide. Steven Roberts, a brother of the bridegroom, was junior groomsman. Six Ushers Ushers were Mr. Willits; James Arnold, Medford; Ed ward Richardson, Madras, Ore.; Albert Hartwell, Ash land; Brian Laurence, Win ston, Ore.; and Raymond Se balla. Myrtle Creek. Candlclighters were Miss Cookie Coon, Myrtle Creek, and Miss Karen Zimmerman, Dixonville, Ore. Mr. Byrd escorted his daughter to the altar and gave her in marriage. The bride's full length grown was of Chantilly lace over satin with tiers of tulle and lace. Her full veil was held by a crown of lace and pearis and she carried an heirloom handker chief, a gift from the bride groom's grandmother. The bridal bouquet was of white roses centered with a white orchid. The matron of honor wore a lavender cniiton gown over taffeta and her bouquet was of white carnations. The bridemaids' gowns were of yellow chiffon over taffeta and they carried bouquets of white carnations. The Junior bridesmaid wore a matching dress and carried a similar bouauet. Miss Fowler wore a white silk lace dress over yellow taffeta. The candelighters Grandmother At Graduation Mrs. Vern D. Brophy, Haw thorne Gardens, has return ed home after having been in Omaha. Neb., to visit her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Squires and their daughters, Stepnanie and Molly. While there Mrs. Bropny attended the graduation cere monies of West Side High school: SteDhanie was a mem ber of the class. The gradu ate, who spent last summer in Indonesia as an American Field service exchange stu dent, will spend the summer in Mayaguez, Puerto mco. She was selected by the Epis copal church for a student project sponsored by the church and supervised by one of the church's order for women. Miss Squires plans to major in languages at college and will study Spanish while in Puerto Rico. Mr. and Mrs. Squires and their daughters will leave Omaha soon to live in Indian Student Will Study in Japan Grants Pass - Miss Kocne Rasanen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Weikko M- Rasanen, 320 Union avenue, Grants Pass, is one of the nine Antloch college students who is spend ing the next year In study at Waseda university, Tokyo, Japan. A graduate of Grants Pass High school, Miss Rasanen en tered Antioch in 1961. She tentatively plans to major in the field of sociology. Under the liberal arts col lege's cooperative plan of education, which requires that all students regularly supple ment their on-campus study with off-campus work experi ence, Miss Rasanen has work ed at several cooperative Jobs, including for the Presi dent's committee on Juvenile delinquency and youth crime, Washington, D.C. wore gowns of mint green taffeta. All had carnation cor sages. Miss Sue Mittag was vocal ist. Flower Cirli The flower girls, Susan Wil lits, McKinleyville, a niece of the bride, and Betsy Roberts, Glide, a sister of the bride groom, wore pink chiffon dresses over taffeta and their corsages were of pink rose buds. The bride's mother wore a pink lace dress over dark pink taffeta and the bridegroom's mother was dressed in pink and white. Both had pink rosebud corsages. At the reception which fol lowed the ceremony, Mrs. John Richardson, Lakeview, Mrs. N. C. Fowler, Colton, and Mrs. Clarence Hartwell, Ashland, aunts of the bride, served the wedding cake. Mrs. John Arnold, Medford; and Mrs. Harold Riddle, Ash land, also aunts, had charge of the reception. The candelighters served the punch and coffee, and in charge of the guest book were the Misses Dolly and Bonnie Byrd, Ashland, and Greg and Miss Patty Byrd, Tahoe City, Calif., all cousins of the bride. Teacher To Travel In Spain Dick Carter, Medford, for eign language Instructor at Hedrick Junior High school, left Friday for Portland where he will Join other teachers who have been se lected for a language and cul ture tour of Spain. From Portland the group will travel to Vancouver, B.C., Canada and they then will continue, by train, to Montreal where they are to enplane for London, England. The tour calls for a five- day stopover In London be fore they arrive in Madrid, Spain. Mr. Carter will enroll in the Eurocenter Language institute where he will study Spanish, with the possibility that he also will study the Russian language. The course will be held through the month of July. For the first two weeks in August the group is free I to disperse and travel wherev er they wish to ao, Mr. Car ter has planned to be on the Mediterranean coast near Va lencia. As a group, they will meet again In London on August 20 and make the return trip over the Bame route. Adarel Events Set c 3 Jacksonville - Two sessions are planned this week for members of Adarel chapter. Order of the Eastern Star. The first will be the last regu lar meeting of the lodge be fore their summer recess, Thursday, June 20 at 8 p.m. in the Jacksonville Masonic temple. Mr. and Mrs. Don C. Shores, worthy patron and matron will preside. The other event Is to be open installation ceremonies which are planned for Satur day, June 22, also in the tem ple. Mrs. Helen Buffington Is to be installed worthy matron and Orval Shores, worthy pa tron. During the Thursday meet ing reports on a grand chap ter meeting are to be given.
