The cou ple with their two sons, David and Robert, will live in Port land where Mr. Nicolettl has been transferred by the Rock Island lines which he repre sents. ' Recent events which honor ed Mrs. Nicolettl have been bridge luncheons. Mrs. Wal ter B. Hlnkle entertained at her home, 2437 ''Capital ave nue. Mrs. Fred T. Burich was hostess at her home, 2302 Hill crest road, when a handker chief shower also was given in Mrs. Nlcoletti's honor, and Mr. and Mrs. David B. Lowry and Mrs. Paul Haviland enter tained at tha Lowry home, Colvcr road. Mr. and Mrs. Haviland also were hosts tor a dinner and evening of bridge for couples which honored Mr. and Mrs. Nicolettl. Other events are planned before the family departs. Local Students On Europe Tour . Miss Jacquallne Garrett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geary Garrett, Coker Butte road, Medford, and Miss De anna Hull, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence D. Hull, Route 2, Central Point, left Friday from Seattle tor a two month tour of Europe. They departed this week end from New York City for their first stop, Lisbon, Portu gal. The Itinerary includes 13 countries. The young women are with a group of students from Seat tle university, sponsors of the lour. On their return they plan a stopover of several days in New York City. From there they will continue to St. ! Loula, Mo., to visit Miss Hull's sister. Miss Reglna Hull. The ' travelers expect to return I home about August 25. Couple Moves To Estate Home Mr. and Mrs. Earl B. Day, who have made their home on Blue Moon ranch, Central Point, tor the past several years, have left the ranch to reside in a home on the lake shore of Table Rock estates They plan to build a residence near that of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs John S. Day, Gold Rev, lo cated on a hilltop of the estates. Mr. Day is a former Jack' son county Judge, Central Point Group Returns Central Point-Mr. and Mrs Jlmmle Ross and Mr. and Mrs. John Davis, both of Windsor way, Central Point, have returned from a week's trip to California. The group spent three days in San Francisco where they attended a performance of "Under the Yum Yum Tree," and attended other theatrical I events. From the Bay City they traveled to Lake Tahoe where they spent another three days before arriving home the end of the week. Mr. andMrs E. R. Music, Route 4, Box 399-DI, Medford, announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Louise Music, to Jerry Edwin Arm strong, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Armstrong, Central Point. Miss Music is a 1983 gradu ate of Medford High school and is employed by Gressett's cleaners, Medford. Her fiance recently completed four years with the United States Air Force and is employed by Medco Plywood company, Medford. The wedding Is planned for late September. Englishwoman Valley Visitor Mrs. E. Garnett of Leek, Staffordshire, England, who has been visiting her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Donald S. Rlchardspn and family In Portland for several weeks, arrived here Friday and Is a guest ot Mrs. E. P. Leavitt, Old Stage road. Mrs. Garnett will also visit Mr. and Mrs. J. Thm aitonrianU' organdy anum uore desisned the same as the bride's gown, the honor attendant wearing pink with matching veiled hat and carry- Ign melon colored satin rose buds with ivy, and the brides maids wearing melon color with matching hats and carry ing bouquets of pink satin rosebuds with ivy. Pew ends were marked with melon colored ribbons and the chapel was decorated with pink carnations and Ivy. Douglas Dammrose furn ished a solo and he and James Hoduffer sang a duet. A reception given by the bride'a parents followed the ceremony. Guests attending from Med ford included Frank Van Dyke, the bridegroom's fa ther, and Mrs. Van Dyke, Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Goodwin ana Mr. and Mrs. John B. Delleu- back. The bride's traveling sun was white which she wore with moss green accessories. Her corsage, a gift from the bridegroom, was of pink car nations and rosebuds with ivy. Live at School The couple is to return from their trip June 20 when they will live at Hawthorne hall at the University ot Ore gon. The bride and bridegroom both attended the University of Oregon. The bride Is head resident of Walton dormitor ies and the bridegroom is a research assistant in physics at the university, while work ing toward his doctor of philosophy degree. He also has attended California Insti tute of Technology, Pasadena and holds his masters degree from the university. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Dammrose wore a toast silk jacket dress with beige accessories and her corsage was of Talisman roses.- The bridegroom' mother was dressed in a Kelly green silk sheath frock with white ac cessories. She wore a light pink rosebud corsage. Couple Visits Ashland Family Ashland - Mr. and Mrs. John P. Dinwiddle were guests last week of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Keating at their Valley View home. They left Thursday .for Berkeley, Calif., u,hii- Mr Dinwiddie will enter the University of Cali fornia Monday. Mrs Dinwiddle, the former Gerda Kretzchmar, was mar ried to Mr. Dinwiddie in Lu- beck, Germany, while he was stationed In the Baltic area with tha United States army. The old seaport has been home of the Kretzchmars for many years. Mr. Dinwiddle, who Is the son of Mrs. Keating, com pleted two yean at Tulane university before entering the army. He spent 3Vi years In Germany. He plans to con tinue his musical education at the University of California and return again to Germany for advanced study. Engaged Pair Visitors Here; Parties Given Gary Winetrout and his fiancee, Miss Sueann Jenkins of Mesa, Ariz., left last week to return to Arizona after spending 10 days here with Mr. Wlnetrout's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Graff Jr., 2196 West Hillside drive. Both young people are stu dents at Arizona State univer sity, Tempe. While here the two stu dents, whose engagement and approaching marriage was re cently announced, were hon ored at a number of parties. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Baker were hosts for a dinner in their honor. Mr. Winetrout's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Winetrout, with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Rodger Sterton, also hosted a dinner for the visit ors. Mrs. O. J. Halboth hon ored Miss Jenkins at a luncheon. The wedding Is set for Au gust 24 in Arizona. Miss Jen kins Is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Everett C. Jenkins. Mesa. Mrs. Graff and her two youngest sons, Gregory and Jeflory Graff, plan to leave tomorrow for Orange, Calif., to visit Mrs. Graft's mother and brother. An older son, Jerry Winetrout, left last week for the University of California, Los Angeles, to at tend summer session. He was enrolled at the University of Oregon last school year in pre-law. . Dinner Given As Farewell Mr. and Mrs. Alfred S. V. Carpenter were hosts June 13 In their Topsides orchard home on Old Stage road at a dinner which was a fare well event honoring Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Eden and Mr. and Mrs. V. P. Nicolettl. " V' . Mrs. Robert D. Swanberg Betrothal News Is Received Mr. and Mrs. Ralph E. Chase, Cusick, Wash., have announced the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Miss Joyce Marjorie Chase, to Kenneth E. McKim, a lieutenant in the Air Force, and son of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. McKim, 3653 South Pacific highway, Phoenix. Miss Chase is a graduate of the Deaconess hospital school of nursing at Whit worth college, Spokane, Wash. Lieutenant McKim has at tended the University of Ore gon and Oregon State univer sity. He received his com mission in the Air Force in 1961 and now is stationed at Ellsworth Air Force base, South Dakota. After their August wedding in Cusick, the couple plan to live In Rapid City, S.D. Kessels Visit Ashland Home Ashland - Arriving Thurs day for a short visit in Ash land at the home of Mrs. Elizabeth Sommer, 163 Oak street, were her niece and family, Dr. and Mrs. John Kesscl and sons John and Tommy, who are driving from Seattle to Washington, D.C., where Dr. Kessel is .- under special assignment by the National Central Committee ot the Republican party. He has been on the faculty of the University of Washington. Other week end guests are Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wagner of San Mateo, Calif, and Bar clay Leeds, Los Angeles, who are also visiting with their aunt, Mrs. Mabel Kinney, 596 Park street. Sponsor Honored Mrs. O. A. Eden, 211 Gen essee street, who with Mr. Eden will leave the end of this month for Portland where they will live, was hon ored at a tea given recently by Beta Sigma Phi sorority chapter members ia Girls Community club. Mrs. Eden has been spon sor of the Alapha Beta chap ter for 16 years. Other chap ters represented were Xi Beta Kappa and Xi Mu. The group presented the honored guest an inscribed silver com pote. Mrs. Shephen Nye, Mrs, Raymond Reter, Mrs. Iriving Thompson, Mrs. Richard Card and Mrs. Willard Chinn pre sided at the tea table. Mr. and Mrs. Eden have been honored at several social events and others are plan ned before their departure from the valley. Father of Bride Performs Rites The father of the bride and a brother officiated ' at the wedding June 14 in Tacoma, Wash., when Miss Helen L. Simon became the bride of Robert D. Swanberg. The bride is the daughter of the Rev. John E. Simon, minister of St. Peter's Lu theran church, and Mrs. Si mon. Mr. Swanberg's father is John M. Swanberg, Seattle. The newlyweds, both teach ers this year in the Yelm, Wash., schools, chose Tacoma for their wedding so the cere mony could be attended by their students. The bride, a graduate of Hood River High school and the University of Oregon, teaches music and drama, Mr. Swanberg, who attended West Seattle High school and the University of Washington, is a teacher of German. He will be with the Olympia city schools this fall. The eight o'clock evening ceremony, held at the Good Shepherd Lutheran church, was attended by 250 relatives and friends. Bride Chooses Music . For her wedding music the bride chose Purcell's "Trum pet Voluntary" and the "Wed ding March" from "Midsum mer Night's Dream" by Men delssohn. Miss Carolyn Moell-. ring, Seattle, was organist, and Michael Murphy, Yelrh, Wash., a music student of the bride, was soloist. He sang "O Perfect Love" and Helnrich Schutz' "Whither Thou Go-est."- , The Rev. Mr. Simon, assist ed by his son, John M. Simon, seminary student, officiated at the wedding. The bride's father also gave her in marriage. The bride wore a floor length gown of imported Chantilly lace and miramist taffeta fashioned with eblow length sleeves, portrait neck line accented with Venetian lace applique, and bouffant skirt with taffeta panels. The skirt formed a chapel train. Her silk illusion veil was held by an open crown of pearlized orange blossoms and she car ried a bouquet of white roses and carnations. Attendants in White Mrs. Paul Fratzke, Seattle, was matron of honor and oth er attendants were Mrs. Ted Brown, Hood River, and Miss Elsie Sherman, Yelm. Miss Cindy Erickson, Yelm, was flower girl and candlclighters were Patricia Mosman, Yelm and Linda Morris, Tacoma; Their frocks were of white) miramist taffeta with bell skirts and they carried white; carnations with blue ribbon. John K. Swanberg, Seattle,' served as best man for his brother and seating the guests were Gilbert Penrose, Seat tie; William Ward, Tumwater, Wash.; Elmer Erickson, Yelm, and William Simon, Penrose, Colo., brother of the bride. Jeffrey Swanberg Seattle, nephew of the bridegroom, was ring bearer. Acolyte was Thomas E. Simon, another brother of the bride. White summer flowers dec orated the church for thai ' ceremony. Following the wedding at reception was held at tha church. The couple are traveling in; Canada on their wedding trip, the bride left wearing a pow der blue suit with white rosa corsage and patent leather ac cessories. They will mak their home in Lacey, Wash., after June 21. . . Travelers . To Return' Mr. and Mrs. J. Curtis Don ahue, 1687 Spring street, ara expected home today attef spending the past two weeks traveling in the Eastern states. The Donahues were in New York City and Washing ton, D.C., and then went south to visit friends in Cape Cam averal. i The travelers first motored south to San Jose, Calif:, where they were guests of their son-in-law and daugh ter,' Mr. and Mrs. Donald C. Green. They attended gradua tion ceremonies at San Josa State college, Mr. Green hav ing been a member of the) class. He plans to enter tha University of C a 1 i f o r nia, Berkeley, in the fall to study law. The Donahues continued east from San Jose by plane and in New York City were guests of their daughter, Miss Patricia Donahue, a hostess for Trans-World airlines.
