The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Victor E. Gardener, Eagle Point, and the bride groom, who has been making his home at Hillcrest orchard here, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Howland Par sons, Seattle. The marriage ceremony took place at St. Mark's Epis copal church at four o'clock in the afternoon with the Rev. George R. V. Bolster officiat ing. Only relatives and close friends were present, and about 125 guests attended the reception which followed at Hillcrest orchard. Mr. Gardener gave h i s daughter in marriage, and her only attendant was her sister, Mrs. Ycsh Paul Puri, Imper ial Valley, Calif. John K. Woodruff, Scattlj, was best man for Mr. Parsons, and ushers were Arthur A. Kkcrson and Hugh Nichols. Eagle Point, ob served their fiftieth wedding anniversary at dinner parly given Sunday, May 26, in their honor by the couple's son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Robert Humphrey, Route 2, Box B83H, Central Point. All five of the couple's chil dren were present for the oc casion and also attending were 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The couple's children are James Waddell, Ashland, Mrs. Evelyn Cowden, and C. W. Waddell Jr., both Eagle Point, and Glenn Waddell, Medford. Also at the event were wives of the sons. Phyllis Tosh Honored Guest; Rites June 29 Miss Phyllis Tosh, bride elect of Ralph Lester, was honored recently at a mis cellaneous shower held at the home of Mr, and Mrs. Donald Tosh, 2772 Tnble Rock road Hostesses assisting Mrs. Tosh, were Mrs. John Bracham, Mrs. Patrick Maluney and Miss Susan Bearham. Miss Tosh Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Tosh, 1916 Grandview avenue, and the bridegroom-elect is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Les ter, Medford. The wedding is sel for June 29. In charge of the guest book was Miss Sandra Waddell, a granddaughter. Mrs. William Sheppard, Shady Cove, baked and dec orated the wedding cake which centered the refresh ment tablo. The crocheted cloth which covered the table, made by Mrs. Robert Humph rey, first had been used sev eral years ago for the fiftieth wedding anniversary of Mr. Humphrey's parents, M r s. Robert Humphrey, Medford, and the late Mr. Humphrey. The cloth also has been used for family wedding receptions. The heirloom crystal can dlesticks used had belonged to Mrs. Waddcll's mother, the late Mrs. Lloyd Briscoe of San Diego. Also used for the decorations were silver can dlesticks which had been a gift to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Humphrey on their twenty fifth wedding anniversary. The Humphrey home was decorated with bouquets ot trts and yellow roses, and ye! low roses also decorated the patio where the anniversary dinner was served. Mr. and Mrs. Waddell were married May 21), 1913 In Boulder, Colo., where Mr Waddell was engaged in min ing. They moved Utor to San Diego, Calif., and In 1925 came to the Rogue valley. Mr. Waddell furmed near Eagle Point until his retirement when the couple moved to town. Miss Jantzer To Graduate Portland - Helen Lucille Jantzer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Burrlll, P.O. Box 240, Prospect, Ore., will re ceive a bachelor of science degree in nursing at the Uni versity of Oregon School of Nursing commencement exer cises Thursday, June 6, at 8 p.m. In the University of Ore gon Medical sc'iool auditori um. Dr. Arthur S. Flemmlng, president. University of Ore gon, will deliver the princi pal address. Miss Jean E. Boyle, director of the School of Nursing, will present can didates for their degrees. One hundred seven barcalureate and fifteen master of science degrees in nursing will be conferred by Dr. rclmmtng. Bebbers Here Ashland - Dr. and Mrs. Chester F. Bcbber of Albu querque, N M , arrived last week to attend the gradua tion of their son William from Southern Oregon college. They are guests at the home of their daughter, Dr. Ruth Bobber, 361 Guthrie street. train. The bodice was de signed with sweetheart neck line and her double veil was held by a circlet of satin. She carried white roses and ivy. Mrs. Puri wore a gown of gold and champagne brocade made princess style with street-length full skirt. She carried gardenias and wore these flowers on her hair. Mrs. Marguerite Conrad played a program of Bach music for the ceremony. White stock and chrysanthe mumr decorated the church. Pouring for the reception were the bridegroom's aunt, Mrs. John S. Day, Mrs. James C. Luce, Eagle Point, Mrs. Harley Nelson and Mrs. L. Calvin Smith. Mrs. Ralph Matthews and Miss Marjorie Sandfort cut and served the wedding cake and serving punch were Mrs. Malzie Daily and Mrs. Margaret Philips. Mrs. Timothy Tucker and Mrs. Bruce M Donald, sisters of the bridegroom from Seattle, took charge of the guest book and gifts. Miss Sandfort took charge of the flowers for the recep tion. Bouquets of garden blos soms were arranged through out the rooms, small white carnations topped the wed ding cake and sliver candela bra held white tapers. The Gardeners are long-time Eagle Point resi dents. Mr. Parsons Is a graduate of Lakeside school, Seattle, and Washington State univer sity, Pullman. He is a grand son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Reginald S. Parsons of Med ford and Seattle. Medford Woman Arrives Home Mrs. L. E. Bean, 608 Fran- quctte street, has returned after being away since mid April. From here she travel ed to Eureka, Calif., to spend Easter with a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Dl Loreto and fam ily. Mrs. Bean then continued to Arizona, Texas, Florida and New York. In New Rochelle, N.Y. she was a guest of an aunt, Mrs. Retlie Clark. At New Haven, Conn., she visited a grandson, Robert Jennings, a student ai Yale university. Miss Carole Lee IVest Bride of Edzvard Forbes Eagle Point - Miss Carole Lee West became the bride of Edward Gordon Forbes in 7 o'clock evening rites May 26 in the New Age church Eagle Point. The Rev. D. E. Millard officiated. The bride, a 1959 graduate of Eagle Point High school, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester West, 124 Ajnx avenue, White City. The bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clifton A. Forbes came from their home in Battle Ground Wash., to attend the ceremony. Among the guests at the wedding riles were other rela lives and friends from Call fornia and Oregon cities. Miss Ellen Callaghan was maid of honor, and Larry H. Green, Roscburg, was best man. Mr. West gave his daughter In marriage. Wsari Lac The bride's gown was of lace and net over taffeta styled with a long train. Her elbow length veil was held by a tiara trimmed with bril liant ornaments. She carried a bouquet of pink rosebuds and white chrysanthemums. Miss Callaghan s sheath dress of orchid lace over taf feta was worn with a match ing hat. Her bouquet was of orchid colored chrysanthe mums, s Music was furnished by Mrs. Genevieve McCorkle and Mrs. Millard on the organ and piano, and the Rev. Mr. Mil lard sang. About 50 guests attended the wedding ceremony and reception. Special guests were the bride's grandmother, Mrs. Edward McCann, and a grent aunt, Mrs. Marvin Jones, both of Portland; and her grand father, Alfred West, Seaside. Mrs. T. A. Bedingfield, an aunt of the bri-'e, served the wedding cake for the recep tion and Mrs. Robert Burton, a cousin, poured punch. Mrs. Jones served the- coffee and registering the guests was Miss Joan Callaghan. Travel North The- couple left for their wedding trip to Seattle, Wash., and other northern points. They will live in San Diego, Calif., where the bride groom is associated with CIBA, a drug firm. The bride's traveling attire was a white sheath suit dress with white accessories. The bride continued her education for three years at the University of Oregon after graduating from Eagle Point High school. For the past several months she ha been employed in the offices of Lea Motor company, Med ford. The bridegroom attended Oregon schools and was grad uated in 1962 from the Uni versity of Oregon. He served with the Army from 1958 to 1961. and during that time he attended Monterey, Calif language school and served overseas for 18 months. Other out-of-town guests in cluded the bride's brother, Wallace Dale West, who was on leave from the Army after completing basic training at Ft. Old Timers, students gradu ating before 1910, are asked to send their reservations for meals and dormitory rooms as soon as possible and address them to Dale Truax, alumni secretary, Southern Oregon college, Ashland, Ore. Some of the activities at the reunion will be a reception at the home of the president, Dr. Elmo N. Stevenson; a Satur day breakfast; registration in Britt student center; lunch eon meeting with a prelimi nary business meeting follow ing; tours of Ashland and the campus; banquet with a busi ness meeting, committee re ports, and election of officers following; and a Sunday morning breakfast. Speakers will be Dr. Her man Scullen, Old Timers president; Lloyd Stratton, Old Timers vice president; Mrs. Alice Willits, Old Timers sec retary; Dr. Stevenson; Dr. El liott MacCracken, chairman of the college science-mathematics division, and James Long, student body president. Ladies of Elks The last meeting of the sea son for the Ladies of Elks will be held Tuesday, June 4, at 1 p.m. in ihe downstairs lounge of the Elks temple. Hostesses for the salad luncheon will be Mrs. J. W. Bates, Mrs. Harold B. Looper and Mrs. Bert L. Cook. Cards will be played in the after noon. Meetings will resume the first Tuesday in October. The couple left for Virginia City and Carson City, Nev., before traveling to the Bay city and northern California.
