The single ring ceremony was per formed at 8 o'clock in the evening. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Horace L. Root, 102S Ellendale drive, Med ford, and is a 1062 Phoenix High school graduate. The bridegroom's parents are Mrs. John Fundcrburg of Hilt, Calif., and Coy Harper, Sheridan. Ark. Miss Elva Root, sister of the bride, was her only attend ant, and the bride's father served as best man. The bride wore a white lace street length dress and a short veil. WEDDING.... r . . . i -Ti It Miff with pearls, and held a shoul der length veil. She wore a heart-shaped opal pendant, a gift from the bridegroom. Her bouquet, which was also heart-shaped, was of white hyacinths and red rosebuds. The honor attendant wore a white chiffon dress with a red lined lace bolero jacket. Her nosegay was heart shaped, of red and white car nations. The ring bearer wore a red velvet dress and red shoes. She carried a white satin pil low with a wedding band be longing to the bridegroom s mother. Both the ring bearer and the honor attendant wore red velvet pillboxes with brief red veils. The chapel was decorated with altar baskets of white stock and red tulips. Mrs. Leslie Boardnmn pro vided the organ music, and Mrs. D. G. MacDougall was soloist. For her daughter's wed ding, Mrs. Franklin wore a gray silk sheath dress and print satin pillbox hat. Mrs. Foreman wore a red nylon lace dress with a white pill box, and both wore corsages of white hyacinth petals. Reception at Church The reception was held in the parlors of the church. Table decorations were red hearts and white candles, with red carnations surround ing the cake. Mrs. Verne Shangle served the cuke, and Miss Marlys Franklin, sister of the bride, poured coffee. The punch was poured by Mrs. Edgar Sims, aunt of the bride. Miss Judith Franklin, n cousin, was at the guest bonk, and Miss Susan Vox was in charge of the gift table. Both the bride and bride groom have attended Medford schools. The bride is a stu dent at Medford High school, and the bridegroom was grad uated from that school in 1062. MEDFORD Gallery Events Are Announced Three events are on the cal endar in coming days for members of Rogue Valley Art association and others inter ested in the current show at Rogue gallery, 220 West Main street. Tuesday, February 26, as sociation members are invited to hear Lloyd Halverson, art dealer and collector, speak concerning works from his collection on display at the gallery. The topic is "The Role of the Collector" and the talk is planned for 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, Mr. Halverson will speak on the same subject at the gal lery for members of Xi Mu chapter. Beta Sigma Phi. As sociation members unable to attend the Tuesday night lec ture may attend Wednesday evening. On Sunday, March 3, the collector will lead a gallery tour and speak concerning the historical background of the works. The tour wiT begin at 3 p.m. and the public is in vited to attend. In the show are works by several world-known masters. Included are paintings and drawings by Van Dyke, Goya Poussin, Modigliani, Turner and others. The Halverson collection is said by some au thorities to be the most val uable private art collection in Oregon and association offi cers have stated that the feel most fortunate to be able to have the exhibit open to the public. Miss Pamela Belies, South ern Oregon college student from Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii, hat baen selected as princess lor the annual skiesta, a win' ter sports carnival sponsored by the college. The event will be March 1-2 at the Mt. Shas ta Ski bowl. Medical Auxiliary Plans Benefit Luncheon, Show March and April usually means a quickening of social activity in the Rogue Valley, even though it is the Lenten season. Among coming events is a pre-Eastcr luncheon and style show planned by the auxil iary to the Jackson County Medical society on Monday, April 1. It will be held at Rogue Valley Country club. Luncheon will be served al noon, and spring fashions will be modeled by auxiliary mem bers and their children. Cards will be available to guests who wish to piny bridge or canasta during the afternoon. Reservations may be made by calling Mrs. Charles Mc- Adnms, 773-63:16. Mrs. Donald McGcary and Mrs. John Watson are co chairmen of the benefit lun cheon, and proceeds will be given to the auxiliary fund for the post-graduate educa tion of registered nurses. Benning, Ga., to make their home after being guests the past week of Lieutenant Gee's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John T. Gee, 2618 Syringa drive, Med ford. The couple's wedding was an event of February 4 in Peace Lutheran church, Seattle. The bride, the former Miss Karen Louise Nelson, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ken neth J. Nelson, Seattle. The bridegroom attended Medford High school and both attended Washington State university, where the bridegroom recent ly was graduated as a second lieutenant in the Army after completion of advanced ROTC training. Of the seven men commis sioned at the time, Lieutenant Gee was one of three desig nated as a distinguished mili tary graduate because of his outstanding scholastic and military work. He completed his work in pre-law and was graduated from the university at the same time. The bride also attended Whitman college. The wedding ceremony was performed at 7:30 o'clock in the evening by the Rev. John F. Paulson. About 75 guests attended the ceremony and about 65 attended the recep tion. Miss Paula Kay Nelson was honor attendant for her sister, and the bridegroom's sister, nursing techniques in Los An geles. The auxiliary raises money within its own group to award a $200 scholarship annually to a worthy nursing student, and to donHte to the AMA-Ed-ucation and Research founda tion, which assists medical schools in their educational programs and administers a student loan program for medical students. Parents Visit Newlywed Pair Prospect Mr. and Mrs. Press Wilson have returned from Jordan Valley where they visited their son-in-law and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Payne. Mrs. Payne is the former Miss Donna Wil son. The couple's marriage was an event of last December. Both attended Prospect school, t lie bridegroom gradu atmg last spring. Mrs. Payne is completing high school in Jordan Valley. OREGON Benning Debbie Gee, was candlelight- er. Best man was James lun- ston, Medford. Ushers were Virgil Taylor, Anacortes, Wash,. Lewis Nelson, a bro ther of the bride, and Ron Scott, both of Seattle. The bride s gown was fashioned with a full length bell skirt and brush train. The bodice was trimmed with lace and pearl ap plique and designed with a high neckline. The bridal bou quet was of yellow baby rose buds with stepnanotis. Her short veil was held from a pearl crown. The honor attendant s gown was of yellow organza with bell skirt and scoop neckline and she carried white flowers The candlelighter also wore a yellow organza frock, trim med with white lace and her wristlet was of yellow rose buds. The church was decorated with yellow and white flowers. The reception was held in the home of the bride s par ents on Marine View drive in Seattle. The couple traveled to Hood's canal for their wed ding trip. Lieutenant Gee is to report for duty in Ft. Benning on March 11. Local Woman On World Tour Miss Marie Eicher, 18 Hawthorne avenue, sailed from San Francisco Saturday, February 23, aboard the SS Monroe, passenger freighter of the American President Lines, on a round-the-world cruise. She plans to return to New York City in May. Miss Eicher will visit Jap an, Okinawa, Hong Kong, British Crown Colony; Viet nam, Singapore, Malaya, In dia, Pakistan, Egypt. Italy, and France prior to her re turn. She plans to take several side trips by plane from Yoko hama. Hong Kong, Bombay, and Suez, reluming to the ship at a later port. Miss Eicher left Medford Wednesday for San Francisco where she visited relatives prior to sailing. Return Mr. and Mrs. Frank C. Bash have returned to their home on Bundy avenue after a trip east. Mr. Bash made the trip on business, and Mrs. Bash spent her lime with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Frank N. Bash, and their year -old daughter. Katie Green Bank, West Va. The young Mr. Bash is one of nine scientists on the staff of the national radio astronomy ob servatory at Green Bank. Medford Couple To Wed; Bride-Elect Is Vocalist Mr. and Mrs. John Thrun, 121 Kenwood avenue, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Fran ces Lorraine Thrun, to Arthur Olaf Aos, 225 i South Holly street, Medford. Mr. Aos is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Trygve Aos, Everett, Wash., and is employed as loading and shipping foreman at Fir Ply corporation. White City. He is an active mem ber of both the Loyal Order of the Moose and Fraternal Order of Eagles lodges. Miss Thrun, known in the Rogue Valley for her singing, recently returned to Med ford from Portland where she had been employed the past year as a bookkeeper by Ore gon Pacific Forest Products corporation. While there she was a member of the Port land Symphonic choir and sang in the chorus for a pro duction of the opera, "Aida." Previously she had been em ployed by the W. H. Daugh- erty Lumber company, the Medford Corporation and Jor gensen's Dairy. The wedding has been set for May 11 at the Sacred Heart Catholic church. Musician Gives Concerts Abroad Ashland Miss Betsy Dean, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Graham M. Dean, Porterville, Calif., writes that she has given concerts this winter in West Berlin, Amsterdam and Copenhagen and will later ap pear in Zurich. The former Ashland musician, a flutist, has been living abroad for the past several years and is now residing in London. Until 1960 the Deans were owners and publishers of the Ashland Daily Tidings and Siskiyou (Yreka) Daily News. They presently own the Por terville Evening Recorder, as well as other dailies in New Mexico. 1 Grandmothers Give Party- Central Point - The annual sweetheart's dinner for grand fathers was given by Crater chapter, of Grandmother Clubs of America, at the Central Point Grange hall February 18. The president, Mrs. Richard Larson, was given a birthday cake. Pictures of a trip to Wash ington, D. C. were shown by Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hover.
