l ' c& fl Medfordtribunb Medford Junior Service league had a double purpose in sponsoring a bfnefit card parly Wednesday' afternoon they called attention to the tenth anniversary of the kindergarten for hard-of-hearing children which the group operates, and added to the treasury. It takes a large amount of money to keep the kindergarten going. Co-chairmen of the party were Mrs. H. L. Boehnke (at left) and Mrs. Don McNeil. Mrs. Russell Jamison, Mrs. Jack Edson and Mrs. Robert B. Webber were sub-chairmen. Webber, Mrs. Warren Holbrook, Central Point, and .AIrs. E. Q. Davis. Mrs. Webber was one of the committee chairmen for the event, a benefit given by Medford Junior Service league. Decorations were in the birthday parly theme and brightly colored balloons of odd shapes decorated the walls and fireplace of the room. Medford League of Women Voters sponsored a coffee at the home of Mrs. Dunbar Carpenter, Foothills road, Monday evening for prospective members. Mrs. L. Houston Valentine, Jacksonville (right), membership chairman of the group, is shown here with Mrs. Thomas Upton (at left) and Mrs. Robert V. Walker. The league, nationally known for its influence and power, carries on a program designed to interest women in government on the local, state and national level and to train them for participation in government. Both Mrs. Upton and Mrs. Walker plan to become members. Three newcomers to the city were among guests at a benefit party given Wednesday afternoon by Medford Junior Service League. Mrs. W. M. Parkinson (at left) and her husband came to Oregon a year and a half ago after living in Nigeria, Africa, where Mr. Parkinson was a consulting engineer; Mrs. Robert DeYoung (center) and her huband came here last September from Gresham, Ore., and Mrs. Richard Saul and Mr. Saul came to Medford more than a year ago from Oswego, Ore.. I 'iHi An orientation meeting of Medford League of Women Voters held Monday evening at the Dunbar Carpenter home at tracted a large group of women. Among those attending were (left to right) Mrs. Robert I. Bulger, Mrs. Ted Hornecker and Mrs. Thomas P. Gass. Mrs. Bulger, who lived in the midwest and the Bay area of California before coming to Med ford, plans to become a member; she points out that a national organization with branches in most cities has many ad vantages for those who may move from city to city. Mrs. Dunbar Carpenter (at right) a former president of the Medford league of Women Voters, opened her home on Foothills road Monday evening for a coffee and orientation program to interest prospective members. Among her guests were (at left) Mrs. Richard Geary, who came to Medford from Klamath Falls where her husband's family it well known, and Mrs. Loren L. Sawyer, 1 wife of the district judge.
