The annual event was held Saturday, February 36, in the Caesar room of the Mark Antony hotel. :The 1963 sorority queen was elected during the even ing by" husbands and escorts of members from the three chapter princesses named sev eral weeks earlier. In addi tion to Mrs. Anderson of Alpha Sigma chapter, Mrs. Jim Conklin was chosen prin ces of Gamma Zeta chapter, end Mrs. Leo Zupan was Xi Alpha Kappa princess. Mrs. Jack Williams, 1962 queen, assisted by Mrs. Gene Litwiller, a princess of last year, conducted the corona tion. Mrs. Martel Peters, mist ress of ceremonies, sang a queen's song for which she had composed words as in troduction to the queen's waltz. Room and table decorations Betrothal Is Announced Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gurncy, 1416 Whitman street, Med ford, announce the engage ment of their daughter, Miss La Mora Gurney, to Lloyd A. Dunham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dunham, 381 Savage Creek road, Grants Pass. Miss Dunham, who attend ed Medford High school through her sophomore year. when her family moved to Oceanside, Calif., is a 1062 graduate of Oceanside High school. She now is a student at Medford School of Beauty. The bridegroom elect is a 1960 Rogue River High school graduate and now is employed at Van Ply com pany in Grants Pass. The couple has set June 30 as their wedding date. SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 24. 1963 j,' f followed a valentine motif of liearls and cupids and the royal throne had for back ground an enormous red heart. Pictures of the royal court were displayed against another large heart. Mrs. Anderson wore an azure organza frock in baller ina length. Mrs. Conklin's gown was of floral blue and Mrs. Zupan wore a shell pink net. To each was given the sil ver bracelet emblem signify ing her royal status. Beta Sigma Phi council of Ashland sponsors the annual Valentine dinner dance. Music for dancing was fur nished by a three-piece or chestra composed of Frank Koch, Carroll Anderson and Mrs. Peters. Visitors Talent Recent valley vis itors were Mr. and Mrs. Wes ley Bolliger and their three children from San Mateo, Calif. They were guests of Mr. Bolliger's mother, Mrs. Violet M. Bolliger, Talent. T2a h- in 617 Eit Mein, Medford Phone 772-8992 Eagle Point Sorority Sets Events Eagle Point- The second spring rush function, a model business meeting of Beta Nu chapter, Epsilon Sigma Alpha. was held at the Brownsboro Road home of Mrs. Edward Chamberlain. Hostess was her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Richard Chamberlain. The guests were Mrs. Don Id Bergman, Mrs. -Geyle Doyle, Mrs. Steven Wisely, Mrs. A. E. Mitchell and Mrs. Keith Krambeal. A preferential tea and pledge ceremony is planned for Wednesday, February 27, at the Richard Chamberlain home. The state second vice president, Mrs. Willie Fischer, Medford, will assist with the ceremony. Slogans for a March 16 cleanup day in Eagle Point were submitted to the poster chairman, Mrs. Robert Kim mel. The chairman, Mrs. Vern Steward has set the hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the cleanup and slated there are no restrictions on the kind of debris which will be picked up. Five trucks and a city dump truck will be in use. A potluck dinner at the home of Mrs. Leif Ostmo will be held for workers at 5 p.m. Anyone desiring additional in formation may telephone the route chairman, Mrs. Keith Sherer, at 446-3573. By secret vote, the Beta Nu outstanding girl was selected at the meeting. Mrs. Leif Ost mo and Mrs. James Anderson, pledges, will have a trophy engraved and the winner will be announced at district ball to be held in Grants Pass on March 9. Refreshments in the Valen tines day theme were served by the hostess. The meeting was adjourned and members then spent an hour preparing for the mailing of Easter seal material. AAUW Groups Slate Sessions The Antique Interest group sponsored by the American Association of University Wo men will meet February 26 at 8 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Duane Richardson, 749 West Fourteenth street. Mrs. Grace Flint of Flint's Antiques in Ashland will speak on an tique china. The Book Review Interest group will meet at the home of Mrs. Richard Gilkey, 424 Willamette avenue, Wednes day, February 27, at 1:30 p.m. Play reading will be the pro gram for the afternoon. Nuptial Mass Is Read For Couple in Yreka Mr, and Mrs. Celin Lee Granger Methodist Chapel Scene Of Marriage Ceremony Miss Lorraine Lpp Hamntnn became the bride of Calvin Lee uranger in 8 o clock eve ning rues read February 15 in the Meeker Memorial chapel of the First Methodist church. The Rev. Gerald Nel son officiated. The bride and bridegroom are senior students at Med ford High school. Their par ents are Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hampton, 961 Lozier lane, and Mrs. Logan Granger, 2303 Spring street, and the late Mr. Granger. Miss Pamela Kay Hampton was honor attendant for her sister and candlelighters were Helen and Deborah Chavis, nieces of the bride. The bridegroom's brother, Lavern Granger, was best man and- another brother. Gary Granger, and William Owens were the ushers. The bride's father gave her in marriage. Her gown was of Chantilly lace over satin, the bodice designed with long sleeves and trimmed with se quins. Red and White Decor The honor attendant wore a red frock with white an gora trimming and she car ried red and white carnations. Red snaDdracnns with while chrysanthemums decorated the church Scottish Rite Women To Meet on Monday Scottish Rite Women's club will meet Monday, February 25, at 8 p.m. at the Medford Masonic temple. Following the business session Mrs. J. B. Lynch, Mrs. Carl Oestreich and Mrs. Ross Gilkison will serve refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. Don Marshall were hosts for the wedding reception held in their home at 523 Clover lane. Mrs. Mar shall is a sister of the bride groom. About 85 guests at tended the wedding and about 65 were at the reception. Father John Carroll officiated at the 12 o'clock double-ring rites in the presence of approximately 125 relatives and friends. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Andrew Soule, Little Shasta, and the late Andrew Soule, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Robustellini Sr., Montague. Baskets of white stock and chrysanthemums, and lighted white tapers flanked the altar, and arrangements of the same flowers were on the altar. Alan Soule, Crescent City, escorted his sister down the aisle. The bride was gowned in white Chantilly lace over taffeta, the floor-length full skirt being designed with a chapel length train with a bustle bow at the back of the waist. The Sabrina neckline of the fitted bodice was trim med with sequins and seed pearls. The bride's elbow length veil of illusion net was edged in lace and held by a half halo crown cf sequins and pearls. Her only jewelry was a pearl necklace, gift of the bride groom. For some thing old, she carried a hand kerchief that had belonged in her great-grandmother, Mrs. Charles Rigdon, and her flow ers were a cascade bouquet of white roses. Miss Jane Mathews. Yreka. and Miss Nancy Robustellini, sister of the bridegroom. served as maid of honor and bridesmaid. They wore identi cal pink brocade street-length dresses, fashioned with bell shaped skirts, fitted bodices, and three-quarter length sleeves. They wore matching shoes, and pink whimsy veils in their hair. Each carried a Colonial bouquet of pale yel low carnations. Best man was Robert Pastcga, Weed, cousin of the bridegroom, and guests were seated by David and Phillip Kooustcllini, brothers of the bridegroom. Guesls gathered at the Yre- ka Elks club for the wedding reception which followed Im mediately after the ceremony. The wedding cake was baked by Mrs. Walter Planka, Yre. ka, and decorated by her daughter, Jeanlne, as a gift to the couple. It was cut and served by Mrs. Robert Wil son, a life-long friend of the bride, and Mrs. Oliver Cooley, a cousin. Punch was poured by Mrs. Louise Faso letti, Yreka, and Mrs. Alan carnation corsage. The bride groom s mother wore an aft ernoon frock of green print, complemented with bone- white accessories and a cor sage of white carnations. For the honeymoon trip to Southern California the new Mrs. Robustellini changed to an apricot sheath dress with matching full length coat, bone accessories and a rose corsage The bride, granddaughter of a Little Shasta Valley pioneer couple, Mr. and Mrs, Andrew Soule, was born in Yreka and was graduated in 1961 from Yreka High school She is employed at the Yreka branch of the Bank of Ameri ca, and will continue her work at the bank until she joins her husband at a later date at an United States Air Force base. Her husband, also a native of Yreka, was grad uated from Yreka High school in 1958, and entered the Air Force In January, 1962. He Is an airman second class and was stationed at Kccslcr Air Force base at Biloxi, Miss., until his recent transfer to Vandenberg A.F.B. 1963Easter Seal Heads Announced Volunteer committee lead ers for various phases of the 1963 Easter Seal campaign were announced the end of the week by Mrs. Leland A. Carpenter, chairman of the appeal in Jackson county. Ihe committee will spear head the appeal for crippled children sponsored by the Oregon Society for Crippled Children and Adults begin ning March 7 and continuing through Easter Sunday, April 14. The committee is made up of Mrs. Richard L. Chamber lain, chairman for the publici ty; Mrs. Kenneth M. Oliver, lily sale chairman; Mrs. Ar thur Pollard, coin cards; Mrs. R. M. Huflcling and Mrs. James Riesteau, coin contain ers. The society Is an affiliate of the National Society for Crippled Children and Adults, which has almost 1400 affili ates throughout the nation. Each year Easter seals provide rehabilitation care to a quar ter million crippled children and adults regardless of cause of crippling, race, religion, national background or eco nomic status.
