MEDFORD, OREGON Linda Lea Setchell JVed To John Daniel Hopkins Ashland A candlelight ceremony performed Decem ber 1 in the Congregational church married Linda Lea Setchell to John Daniel Hop kins. The 8 o'clock double ring service was read by the Rev. Paul E. Otte. The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. John E. Setchell and Mr. Hopkins is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hopkins, all of Ashland. The bride and bridegroom are graduates of Ashland high school and both are of southern Oregon pio neer families. : For her wedding the bride wore a floor length white Washed Out? The skirt was fashioned with lace panels and the tight fitting bodice with long sleeves and scalloped neckline was also of lace. The ruffled tulle under skirt featured lace flowers accented with sequins and seed pearls. A tiny pearl and sequin coronet held her half' veil of illusion net and she carried a bouquet of stopha notis and snowflake chysan. themums centered by white orchids. She was given in marriage by her father. Attendants In Pink Bridal attendants were Mrs. Robert E. Miller Jr. of Corvallis, matron-of-h onor, gowned in pink lace over tat feta, and the bridesmaids, Miss Mary Cobb and Miss Ester Aguilcra, Ashland wearing matching frocks of pink chiffon over taffeta Their feather hats were pink, their accessories were white and the bouquets, which had been made by Mrs. John Bowman, were of pink and white carnations and chrysan themums. Miss Mary Setchell sister of the bride, wore a blue lace frock and match ing flowered headpiece for her candlelighting dull-v Robert E. Miller Ji. was best man and ushers were Leslie Hopkins, the bride grooms brother, and John A, Bowman. Michael Rush was the soloist accompanied by Miss Margaret Ramsey, who played the organ wedding music. A sliver and white motif prevailed In the church deco. rations of tall baskets of white chrysanthemums on either side of the altar and lighted white tapers. Reception At Hall A reception was given by the bride's parents in the Bellvlew Grange hall where guests were served wedding cake by Mrs. Harold Bonn. Mrs. William Cobb presided at the punch bowl and Miss Kay Lamlca was in charge of the guest book. Dancing fol lowed to the music of Mac McQulre and The Country Boys. For their honeymoon to southern California, Nevada, and Arizona Mrs. Hopkins wore a beige sheath with white accessories and the orchid corsage from her bouquet. Mr. and Mrs. Hopkins are now at home at 800 Buck- horn Springs road. Mr. Hop kins is secretary-treasurer of Topklns Ranch, Inc., being associated with his father and brother in the corporation. ft is m. 1 A V hi X . ' ' 1 Installation Conducted Mr. and Mrs. John Daniel Hopkins Ashland Schools List Schedule of Programs Ashland For the third year Ashland elementary schools presented a combined Christmas program. The an nual caroling festival was held Thursday evening in the junior high school auditorium and was attended by a capac ity crowd. Choruses from the Bell vlew, Briscoe, Lincoln and Walker schools sang tradition al hymns and folk songs of this and other lands. The ad vanced elementary orchestra and band each played a num ber and the audience Joined the children in singing several familiar hymns. The hour-long service was uninterrupted by applause until its conclusion. The sig nificance was heightened by Richard Graham's reading of the Christmas story as re corded In St. Luke. School music faculty mem bers who directed the Thurs day night program were Miss Audrey Brlst, Miss Linda Bruno, Mrs. Virginia Cecil, Mrs. Charlsia Schall, Frank Kenney, Raoul Maddox, Ber nard Windt and Everett Win ter. Mrs. J. W. McCoy accom panied some of the choruses. Other school programs are to be given during this week beginning with the senior high school performance Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the high school gymnasium, followed Thurs day at 7:30 p.m. by the junior high Christmas program. The various choruses have appeared before several clubs and church groups and Fri day afternoon the Lincoln children traveled to the Rogue Valley Manor after having sung at noon before the Sor optimist club. Next Tuesday the same singers are to give a program for the Kiwanis club and on December 10 the Briscoe chorus will go to the Veterans Administration Domiciliary, White City, to present a program for the vet erans. , Installation of officers and a gift exchange are on the program for Electa Social club women Friday, Decem ber 21 at 12:30 p.m., In Girls Community program. A des sert luncheon will be served. Mrs. Ina M. Huson, presi dent, will preside for the meeting and Mrs. Lena Hyde and her committee has charge of the luncheon. Mrs. Esther Coleman will be Installed president; Mrs. Ryde, vice president, and Mrs. Carrie Walters, secretary treasurer. Gifts are not to exceed one dollar. All Order of the Eastern Star members not now affili ated in the valley are invited. Daughters Plan Annual Election Elta Dueul Hubbs tent, Daughters of Union Veterans, will meet Wednesday, Decem ber 19, at 1 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Bessie Gott, 542 South Ivy street. Officers will be elected. Members are to take mate rials to pack boxes for shut ins as well as articles to be sent to Fairview Home in Salem. Geo.
